  • i wish my band director let us play songs like this

  • this an awesome core-style song

  • Screw the one person who disliked this.

  • lololololol a little drum solo at the end =D

  • i love this show i did it as an 8th grader

  • to slow... just to slow.... pump it up about 3 notices and thats how i love it... But that trumpet solo/ soli gets me every time

  • is awesome. :) my honors band rocked the socks off of the 7th graders with this piece.

  • Weplayed this ong in my Eighth grade symphonic class. I think thaat was the easiest song all year, but we all loved it either way! :D

  • My band played this arrangement in our show in 2010. I LOVED it!!!!! It was so fun to march to because the drill was BEAST!!!

  • aztec fire is the shit my favorite song in marching band and i hated...... hated marching band

  • I like the high G around measure 13. Good improv. The trumpet solo is also cool. We ended up using the Marching Arrangment. Mainly due to the lack of french horn.

  • Im so upset were playing this for a PARADE it is not a march at all. Shure its good for a field show but not a parade.

  • My school band have this score, but we never play it.... Cause for juniors, it's hard....

    And I love this song!!!!!!!!!

  • @Elise5545

    Same here c/o 2002

  • SDSU Marching Aztecs plays this and it sounds absolutely amazing!

  • this song is sooooo good. our band plays and outstanding preformance. and im happy cus i get to have a really good close up, im flag. but they give out solos to the trumpets who play amazingly

  • we play this song

  • My junior high band played this last year for our half time show. It was awesome.

  • I can't get this outta ma head!!! : D playing this in a parade next year! can't wait!

  • i played this in my 6th grade band and we got straght ones(highest score) at our performence

  • I LOVE this song so much!!!! The Falcon Band plays it, too.

  • @smashfans123 you mean five oaks? play there too

  • @hiflipper84 ok if thats the case try playing it while marchingits hard to keep the sound from flying all over the place

  • i love conducting this song and i learned the trumpet solo on alto sax! yee!

  • im playing this song too!

  • ha ha I'm playing this song right now in my Marching band! and we sound great!!! it's such a great song...

  • we did this song in band, the hardest part for me was not the notes, it was honestly the rhythm. im first chair trumpet, and it confused me a bit

  • nvr mind about the whole genetailia thing " im pretty much pro at this song fo sho my bro ho yo

  • penis

  • My band plays this but we skip from 0:42 to 1:24

  • aw man. that skips the best part..i had to play the solo xD

  • There's a solo? Cool... er, well not for us anyway. We lost at the Black Walnut Festival to Ripley because they played the whole song. Dunno why we skipped it.

  • Comment removed

  • yeh. the part yall skipped is the solo :3

  • Fingures. I could probably play it though. I looked at it and it didn't seem out of my range. I can reach from low F# (below is pedal tones) to high C (above is pedal tones) which is about the max range for trumpets.

  • yeah it was really easy

highest note i can play is a (well..we call it super g..) its the g above high c

  • The one just above the staff? Yeah it's pretty hard to get sometimes. How long have you played? I'm a freshman and I played for a bit over 5 years

  • ill message you xD

  • Ok. I'll be a while though I need to do stuff.

  • Sorry man but there's plenty of real notes above high C on trumpet. You might argue that notes above DOUBLE high C don't have enough harmonics to be 'real notes' but they are used once in a while. The Incredibles soundtrack has a double high D in one of the tunes. That said, if you can play up to a high G or double A or so, you can play lead on most tunes.

  • I didn't say it was impossible to play above it, I'm just saying I can't play pedal tones well. I'd need a mute or pillow or something infront of my trumpet to play that high.

  • My band plays this in the stands at football games, the snare part is crazy.

  • @imsocutewithnips SDSU marching aztecs?

  • i liked this one when we played in like 2 yrs back for marchin band my freshman year. was fun.

  • lol i played this with vallhalla and steel canyon

    WE ROCKED!!!!!

my middle school is the best in the district

  • This is the easy arrangement for high school bands. Does anyone have the professional recording of the moch more intricate collegiate version??

  • I didn't know there was a harder version but ill keep an eye open for it.

  • @messickc Yes, you're right.....back in 1983, Jenson Productions had an arrangement of Aztec Fire written by Jay Bocock in its University Series. The University of Oklahoma Marching Band played the selection and blew it out the stadium!!! No one has come close to that performance. I had that version plus many more on LP's but somehow they were destroyed. If anyone has this version, PLEASE upload it....I really would love to hear it

  • @messickc its not a harder one its a concert band arrangement and its actually eaisier

  • Our marching played this for our show, and then we got to play an another arrangement last year when we played in the Purdue Band Day!!

  • wow this is our parade song and its waay different

  • Im In middle School and We Already Know how To play it[:

  • yea me too played it in 7th grade

  • im playing this song this year on snares kinda hard kinda not

  • We are playing this this year. But we only have 15 people in our band.

  • we has 15 people in our percussion

  • were playing this in band for a competition and this sounds way better =/

  • haha we played this in high school.

    Azusa Aztecs haha

    Azusa High School

  • dat trumpet solo/duet was so fuckin sexy!!!

on som real shit dis is a nice compisition!!

  • im learning this is band too im just curious how many bands across the us is also learning this

  • A lot!!

  • played it every year of high school, and i am sure they played it before that... what you play

  • field show this year.

  • learnin this in band right now

  • i luv dis song!!!! dis should've been on da movie called "Zaroh" if dats how u spell it.

  • oh wow...i remember playing this as part of my field show...and my director made me...a piccolo player...do a trio with two trumpets...LoL

  • oh man. my marching band blasts the crap out of this song. it sounds so tame in this recording. hahah.

  • my band plays this my school name is st thomas more are band is awesome

  • i love this song, but i think my band director is stupid. instead of the trumpets having the solo he gave it to ME a clarinet!

i feel bad for trumpets cuz this is supposed to be thier piece. a piece they can be loud and powerful like my band loves to do.......do you think my director was wrong? voice your oppinions plz

  • If you got the concert band arrengment then you do get part of the solo. If not then your band director is stupid!

  • the piece was for marching band, but my director wants to relive marching band so he's passing out all of the music again its so incredibly annoying cuz he gave me 1st trumpet part in every piece.....does he not know that the long black wooden thing with golden knobs and silver keys is a clarinet and a short brass thing is a trumpet?

  • He might be ,not only stupid, but blind to. Just tell him that you don't want the part and then you can figure something out. If you want the part well lucky you. Its your choice.

  • I think its cool. Clarinets hardly ever get solos in marching if ever and Ive seen this solo on Soprano Sax so Id say go for it.

  • thanks empires i like your opinion the best lol well we had the concert and me and my band director comprimised. I got a pro clarinet and the piece if the trumpet plays the solo with me. I got the best pro clarinet and the 8th graders rocked Aztec Fire. it was rly fun with the trumpet and clarinet combined. ya'll should try it

  • I wish I could but the director says no becase we played it 2 years ago when I was in 8th grade in concert band.

  • @Maddison135 its because in the concert band arrangment the clairenets have the solo but its soli

  • heh..this was our sight-reading piece today :P

  • everyone who commented on this song is in band lol

  • well people who aren't in band don't give a crap about aztec fire! During a half time show all they're conserned about is going to the bathroom and getting hot dog!

  • you can just stop bin rude!!!! Just cuz we play music in r spare time and u go 2 the bathroom doesnt mean u can b nasty!!! It means we can!!!

  • You are seeing me on the wrnog side. Well I was just saying I know plenty of times I've held it because it was a cool show.

  • i play this song now i have the wholle bass line to myself

  • this song is a bitch on french horn! Well, at least it is if your in my grade level...

  • I didnt know it was that bad lol. My siters been able to play the horn part sense the beginning of 7th grade last year.

  • then your sister is some kind of french horn prodigy, because i have a hard time with that frikin melody line!

  • 0:45

  • I have always loved this song for marching band. Another great one by Mr. Bocook is "España", which is from the late 1970s.

  • Esoana is a great song very similar to this one if I remember right. Saddly its been out of print for many many many years and I cant find a recording.

  • My school does have a copy of Espana I just cant seem to find it

  • I love this song. We played it last year. It was awesome. However, we played it somewhat faster than this. But it is great to hear it again.

  • i love this song ^^ weve never played it though *tear* s'better than the concert version, in my opinion =)

  • I like the concertband one better. He took out some important lines like the low brass 1 measure melody thing at the end for the marching version

  • guess im just predisposed - i didnt even know there was a concert one til i looked up the marching one here. thanks for posting both though

  • The marching one has more energy and the trumpit solo actually has emotion Ill give it taht.

  • We played this for marching band this year and I loved it.
