  • I was born in 87' & I still bang this every chance I get, gotta thank my mom & dad for puttin me on this as a child!

  • THIS DUDE SPITTIN CRAZY FLOW . He don't get no kind of recognition. All we talk about is biggie who WAS good but what about moe dee, rakim, big daddy kane, chuck d, krs-one,etc. I'm a huge 2pac fan but honestly they talk about him to much sometimes as well. What about ll cool j and big l and outkast. These are all terrific MCs who get less respect than lil wayne, jay z, drake, and all those young cats. No offense to them but THIS kind of stuff is the real deal. JUST SAYIN.

  • @alaza61 KMD and LL Kool J had their little war, "Maam said knock you out" is aimed at KMD.

:) i used to rewind on my DVR just for those parts when he used this song.

that was before i stopped being lazy and actually, look for this song.

  • Hearing this again makes me wonder if there any current rappers out there that can make songs that don't involve shooting people, disrespecting women, or celebrating things that most folks wouldn't be proud of.

Seriously. If there are, I'd love to hear more about them.

  • @Arjay9975 There are try Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Jean Grae, just to name a few people. They don't disrespect women or talk about killing people. They actually make songs to uplift our communites and to let us know what is going on the world.

  • @BlaqueReign25 Thank you much. I'll look them up.

  • @Arjay9975 You are most welcome, glad I could help you out. Check out Mos Def as well or Pharoe Monch they are some good artist as well.

  • 5 Stars!!

  • was an LL fan back then and since there were battle lines drawn, I was anti-Modee, but as I got older and looked back at the history of rap and that time, I gotta give it to the man...and this song is the business...he still had that kind of old school flow but he was the bridge b/w those real old school Bizzy B types and the next era of what we think of as real rappers...

  • i love throwing stands to this song fa my dance team

  • Kool Moe Dee is the isht! One of the original rappers to lay down the blueprint for today's modern rappers. Think about it...rapper/actor etc.

  • kool moe, gift or gabb, just like tupac!!!!!!!

  • Any rapper that doesn't recognize this song as where they got their "metaphor" style from is lying to themselves!!!

  • When it comes to straight up lyrics it gets no better than this.

  • This is awesome. My dad used to rap this to me when I was little.

  • @Doodlebob108 Shit I feel old.

  • Flow reminds me of Kool Keith..

  • Kinda reminds me of shock g

  • damn not sure who that is lol. Is he sick?

  • Haha, at school for one of our lessons sometimes some burn CDs (with crappy "rap" in it) and bring it there to listen to. I brought my own CD and included this song with load of other 80s classics (mostly Big Daddy Kane).

This song just hypes you up and something to break-dance to.

  • Yeah i used to love this cd but Kool Moe Dees music just sounds dated. It doesnt have the same effect it had on me 20 yrs ago. but this song is still dope. It just gets you hyped.

  • love&basketball babbii..

  • love to listen to this when i workout gets me hyped up! I GO TO WORK!

  • This is the best song ever to listen to on the drive to work! The worst? "Working Class Hero" by John Lennon...makes you want to veer the car off a cliff.

  • Used To Love This Joint!! Teddy Riely At The Beginning Of His Carreer!! Beat Was Sickness For The Time!!

  • Best Hip Hop dance song ever. Man use to go off on the floor to this. Hooked me up a few times back in the day LOL.

  • I still love this song.

  • awesome track!

  • Ahh...Kool Moe Dee...this song takes me back to the old school days. I loved the Golden Age of rap when it all was fresh & real. Unlike the crap these days. The message has been lost..

  • How could you say that... 1973 was just the beginning of the hip-hop era! in 50 years you can start that!

  • this song is good but LL definitely won the battle they had. "Jack the Ripper", "2 Da Break Of Dawn" and "Murdergram" killed Moe Dee and if u include mama said knock u out its a straight win for LL...

    but very good song though

  • kid, shut up n grow a brain ... fool you probably cant even understand a word kool moe says - why do all the lil kids like LL n all the real hip hoppers like kool moe dee??? cause kool moe is much better n didnt sell out to the mainstream bull like LL did

  • actually im not little but i didnt say Kool Moe Dee sucks cause he was a great rapper, its jus that he only had one good diss against LL and that was "Lets Go" everything else sucked and even Nas said that that LL beat Moe Dee but thats besides the point and if im the stupid one how do i kno that u cant grow a brain dumb ass HAHAHAHAHA

  • Nas sucks n yes u is a lil boy... and i cant grow a brain??? wtf kinda insult is that? ... YOU WHITE ... Ll cool j just sold out n went mainstream, thats why ppl say he won, CAUSE HE WENT 4 THE MONEY, kool moe won his stuff is alot better than ll, LL is pretty good, but he does alot of this pussy cracker shit that u probably like, cause u is some lil cracker who dont know nothing about hip-hop, go listen 2 ya soulja boy n shit, get the fuk off kool moe dee

  • first of all Nas is the best(listen to Illmatic cd) for proof

second im not white jus u sayin that is hilarious u can look at my page and can see im not white in my vid

3rd i didnt say u couldnt grow a brain i said that u called me stupid even though u think it is possible to grow a brain

    4th SOULJABOY IS HORRIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

5th u make it sound like i said Kool oe dee suks even though i clearlt said he doesnt

and y r u letting some so called "little kid" make u mad

  • boy, go listen 2 ur mainstream bull, i aint angry my mouth is just real nasty... Nas has done like 2 good songs n they aint even that good - Koll moe is way betta than LL cool j n dont listen 2 kool moe if u think ll is better n yes u is sayin kool moe is shit if u sayin LL is betta - fukin spolied nigga i should hang u off a tree n burn u alive

  • mothafucka, u better keep runnin ur mouth on the internet cause ull end up dead in real life - now get the fuk outta here, u cracker OH SRY ur like collin powell, YOUR OPENLY WHITE, U JUST APPEAR 2 BE BLACK haha

  • HAHAHA thats funny but i thought we were talking bout Kool Moe Dee and LL. All i said was that LL won the battle and Nas is the best and that Kool Moe Dee was good but not as good as LL(yes he made a lot of crappy love songs but the disses were very good)

COlin Powell ill give it to u that was funny but it would be even funnier if it were tru though its not

  • you would be dead in real life boy, anyway whether if u think kool moe's insults are betta than ll is up to personal opinion but u shouldnt be leaving no ll promoting comments on I GO TO WORK ... LL cool j ran out of rhymes, death blow finished the battle, kool moe, made LL cool j have 2 sell up and start making that pussy shit or have 2 start using bad language cause he ran out of rhymes n nas has 2 use bad language coz he run out of rhymes too - funk you i win, peace - im done, bye

  • NNNnnno! Koo Mo!

  • He killed this flawlessly!

  • I am not a Rap fan, buy Kool Moe Dee was the last of the intelligent MCs. The brother had a Master's Degree. These days, these common hoodlums don't even have enough sense to enjoy their success. This is worth listening to.

  • brings back mad memories... love it!

  • 99% of 21C rap is garbazh! The Izold Skizool reigns fucking supreme.

  • YES YES!!!! Moe Dee I remmber all his song especially go see the doctor and I gotta say he killed LL Cool J in their beef

  • I'll always remember the SDI amping up our platoon in bootcamp to this before final drill. Imagine about 50 marine recruits bopping along to this polishing boots, cleaning rifles, and ironing cammies. Great memory.

  • This song used to pump my basketball team up on game day. It was also part of our cheerleading routine too.

  • I agree, Moe Dee is one smart cookie. I heard he had his Master's Degree.

  • I need to play this everyday when i go 2 work. It might motivate me my check sure don,t.

  • i go to work tomorrow lmao

  • Better than Lil Wayne, thats all I had to say

  • Lol , not much needed 4 that.

  • first song I heard of Kool Moe Dee was How You like me NOw, and i just fell in love with Hip Hop..... When i first heard "I go to Work" it was during a pre-performance before a roller blade show lol when they were famous!! and as soon as i heard it, i went and bought the tape, and then this song and "The Don" was my fav!!! I went to work and try to memorize the words!!!

  • MOE DEE ROCKS--FUCK LL

  • I love this song it reminds me of when I was a kid. But looking back he took rakim's style on this one.

  • how the hell can Kool Moe Dee take Rakim's style? He was out with this style waaay before Rakim wanted to rap. SMH @ you dudes who post ninsense like that.

  • Thank you!!! rofl

  • lol Moe dee is the inventor of scientific rap, was doing it before Rakim came in the game, if anything Rakim was influenced by him.

Rakim obviously took the style much further.

  • HUH?????? You Do know Kool Moe Dee Came out before Rakim, So I don't see how he could steal his style, There Style is Nothing alike. rofl

  • He was great.

  • He should be a guest on Bill Maher's show. He is damn smart and articulate, and has the nerve to say the things that need to be said.

  • I AM at work :)))

  • James Brown - superbad

  • I GO TO WORK!!!!

  • is this an LL diss?

  • Knowledge is king how many rappers proclaim that now?

  • Nas

  • he was mad crazy with the mic piece!!!

  • kool moe dee is the reason why i like rapping and its claver how he uses articulet terms in hes rhymes tha only thing that means that dude is very educated and thank kool moe dee for inspriing alot of real mcs

  • teddy riley got off on this 1

  • im 15 and i like some mainstream rap just beacuse of the beats but olds school rap like this dominates what little mainstream rap i listen to. sucks they dont have Kool Moe Dee's older stuff on itunes. Yay limwire!

  • ditto

  • Kooooool!!! :)

  • You can never listen to this song too many times

  • Paved the way for many. Thank you K.M.D.

  • I go to work in he morning listening to this it make's my day

  • I remember doing my chores on this album right here. Wish I would have played closer attention.

  • wow i luv diz song :-)

  • I'm with you man. Signed.

  • Thanks a million, dude. :)

  • I remember buying this cassette back in the 80s. Unfortunately, I don't have the tape anymore. Thanks for posting, brings back memories. Moe Dee had great beats and lyrics. I don't even listen to rap now because of the negativity, gansta crap, swearing, etc.

  • I know what you mean. I'm sorry to know that you don't have the tape any more. It's no trouble at all. Of all of the early emcees, Kool Moe Dee was probably one of the best (he ranks at #2 in my top 10 favorites of all time), because of his incredible, excellent, exquisite rhyming acumen and his awesome ability to program badass, kickass beats with sick scratches by his DJ, Easy Lee.

  • Not to mention how well he was able to conform, vibe and adjust to new trends. He never sold out, but he upgraded and improved with the times, and he was probably the only MC of his era that knew how to latch on and hook all of the younger, less knowledgeable, wise and understanding teenage hiphop heads.

  • Unfortunately, NO thanks to all of my friends at school, I'm exposed to every single inch of the hideous negative, profanity-laden, name-brand gangsta crap 'rap' (calling it even that is insulting to true, serious, hardcore, pioneering old-school rappers, and referring to the stuff as hip hop, IMHO, is absolutely SACRILEGOUS) nowadays that graces our charts.

  • Damn, tell me about it!! I take it you're a teen, who has to deal with your peers, who are into the BULLSHIT that is commercially passed as "rap." Please on some cheese! I'm 37, and when I was your age, DOPE tracks as KMD here were what was popular, along with Run-DMC, LL, PE, etc. It's just such a shame that many of our impressionable youth are being raised on the garbage that's "pop music" (ha), but encouraging to know that you're seeing the light and not going along with the crowd! ;-)

  • Yeah i go through the same thing i'm 17 but ONLY listen to old school hip hop and my peers always ask me why you listen to that old stuff? Sometimes i feel like i'm in the wrong generation.

  • Heck I feel I'm in the right generation (I guess, LOL), but oftentimes I end up having to deal (esp. at work) with a bunch of younger people that like the new crap..uhh, "rap", and other "trendy" noise (uhh, music). It's just frustrating but oh why bother trying to show them what this 'ol geezer thinks is rap haha they're too lost

  • I'm 22. I listen to Rakim, Kool Moe Dee, Kool G
