@ryanmg1 The GTO doesn't weigh that much. The 6-speed manual weighs 3690, and the auto is around 3725. I've had mine on the scales, and with the weight reduction I've done, it was 3610 with more than a half tank of gas. I'll be adding more weight to it very soon though, by way of a TVS1900 supercharger :)

@LightningMAS if you say so...13.0 in the 1/4 was pretty respectable in 2006. I realize cars have gotten faster now from the factory, but the goat can still be made to be pretty darn quick. There's a few 9 second GTO's in the country...still equipped with the independent rear suspension. Mine should be getting faster in a few months courtesy of 2.3 liters of forced induction goodness :)

Yes, all 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO's were built in Australia by Holden and sent to the U.S. by boat. So yes, they are Monaros converted to left hand drive, along with badging, bumpers, and so on.
ummmm im pretty sure that stock for stock a drag against a GTO and G8 GXP...its sorta a drivers race...the GXP pushes out 15 more HP than the GTO...but the GXP also weighs more than 300lbs more than the GTO...so i guess its a drivers race, with a decent advantage to the GTO.
This wasn't a G8 GXP in the video, it was a G8 GT, and this was the very first one we saw on the road back in April 2008. But I agree, stock for stock a GTO and G8 GXP should be very close, with the edge given to the GXP since it's probably easier to launch properly. Have fun finding a stock GTO though, lol!

According to insideline, the g8 has a 0-60 of 5.4, and a 1/4 mile of 13.6, according to insideline, the 2010 mustang gt has a 0-60 of 5.2, and a 1/4 mile of 13.5, also the gt with track pack has more grip, and a faster slalom speed. 360hp is from a tiny cam (because of the Active Fuel Management) and a tune for 87 octane. The car in that vid now has an intake, cat-back and a 93-octane tune which gives puts it somewhere around 400-410hp. Add some LT headers and a cam and it's getting close to 500hp. There's a lot of un-tapped power in the G8 GT and the GXP is the same way.
The sad part is, you could buy a Mazda Speed3 and probably keep up with either, to an extent. To be honest, I'd rather the GTO, but that's just because everyone has mustangs, and I like how the GTO looks slightly more docile. As for G8-GT..too held back powerwise, and not manual. But whatever. Let's not have an internet war, and get out there and race, eh?

The mach 1 was offered with a 305HP 4.6L 32V V8, or a 390HP Supercharged 4.6L. (and various 6's to I believe) Now the only thing that comes to mind is the 360HP 428. Now a 428 is like a 6.8 or 7.0L engine isn't it? So how on gods earth did you get 72.82HP per litre? Is there a motor they didn't sell here in Canada? if so provide me with a link, until then LOL.

No, we were actually on our way to the GTO Owners of the North East (GONE) meet at On The Border in New Jersey. We did go to the All GM Nationals at Carlisle too though :)
i have a brand new 09 g8 gt and they are great ive had mine up to 132mph going over hills and it still held to the road :] but looks to me as in this video that the g8 was catching the gto but its cool either way the g8 will eat it up ;]

First of all the g8 has 361 hp. But u can also get them w 400 hp. The gxp can b ordered w/ 415. Why fight both cars r fast and bad ass. U need to b taken down all the mustangs that thank they have somethen rather than fighting about two equaly tough cars.

I belong to both club webpage Forums, you can only join the club if you have a Holden GTO.
Even the Forum join area you have to chose what year Holden you own with a caption under saying that you dont need to own a Holden to join but must pick from the drag down.
I snoop around the LS1 LS2 GONE under another name and I can tell you that unless you have both a real GTO and a fake no other owners take or own real GTOs or take them to club circle jerks.

The Frame and Body are Fisher & dont belong to any one Division same gos for the trans & rear, the body was shaped by PMD clay molders & sent to Fisher for production.
The engines in real PMD GTOs are Pontiac, not Chevy, not Olds, and in fact GM got sued & LOST for putting a Chevy in place of other engines. See Joseph Siwek VS GM.

Unless this is a different engine than the 6.0 in the 08 g8 gt, the 2010 mustang gt has better times than it. According to insideline, the g8 has a 0-60 of 5.4, and a 1/4 mile of 13.6, according to insideline, the 2010 mustang gt has a 0-60 of 5.2, and a 1/4 mile of 13.5, also the gt with track pack has more grip, and a faster slalom speed. Just saying.

did you know that...the Ls2 is a fantastic engine..its the chioce over all the ford motors..no one is building supercars using the cobra motor. to many parts and valvetrian issues...to work out..
however a GTM is made using a LSx engine whether its a 427 or 454...its LSx based. design....the simplest engine makes for easier mods and power delivery... what you put down 290 whp vs 350 for the LS2. lol and your better..?

360hp is from a tiny cam (because of the Active Fuel Management) and a tune for 87 octane. The car in that vid now has an intake, cat-back and a 93-octane tune which gives puts it somewhere around 400-410hp. Add some LT headers and a cam and it's getting close to 500hp. There's a lot of un-tapped power in the G8 GT and the GXP is the same way.

To be honest, I'd rather the GTO, but that's just because everyone has mustangs, and I like how the GTO looks slightly more docile. As for G8-GT..too held back powerwise, and not manual. The mach 1 was offered with a 305HP 4.6L 32V V8, or a 390HP Supercharged 4.6L. (and various 6's to I believe) Now the only thing that comes to mind is the 360HP 428. Now a 428 is like a 6.8 or 7.0L engine isn't it? So how on gods earth did you get 72.82HP per litre? Is there a motor they didn't sell here in Canada? if so provide me with a link, until then LOL.

Let me educate you. The 2004 Mach 1 was underrated at 305Hp so it's actually around 335HP. The Cobra, rated at 390 is actually around 420HP. It's well known.

Well known? Odd how those outside of the mustang world don't hear of it. Ive got 2 friends that both own stock 2005 Cobra's, and neither one of them is capable of a dyno run over 350HP to the wheels. Typo ass hat, they're 2004's. Both of them have been dyno'd at 341, and 343HP. Both are under 50k KM. Both run synthetic, and 91 octane fuel. Both have been meticulously maintained. That with your estimate numbers would leave 70+HP to vampiric loss. Something is wrong with that picture.

Both the G8 and GTO are Australian built cars, the G8 is a rebranded Holden Commodore SS-V, and the GTO is a rebranded Holden Monaro but production was cancelled in 2005 due to poor sales,

nice :o) yea i went to Carlisle in 2008 and i loved it. i'll definitely be going back. i was with the grand am crew. but mine wasn't there. a day prior i nearly got my car totaled because of someone's impatientness. it was my first time going to such a huge PA meet. I did like the test drives with the malibu and g8 gt. unfortunately there was a waiting list to even test drive the g8 gt. so we ended up testing the malibu, which wasn't bad either.
