I have windows 7 and I want to record videos using the samsom G track but every time I try it my speakers stop working and even though the microphone is on, the video comes out mute...how do I fix this?
So I would greatly appreciate this if it was answered. I just got my Samson G track and I was wondering if this problem can be solved with the whole left channel sound thing. I recorded on photo booth but soon realized I had this problem too, i was going to try Imovie, but it seems that this is also the problem, is there anyway this can be solved??
Not much room to answer this here, briefly, a mic is a mono source, meaning one channel, stereo is 2 channels, left and right, in order to hear the mic from both channels the software has to be setup for a mono source to record the sound to both channels. I am not sure about photo booth but Imovie does not have this capability; Garageband does. In a nutshell, its a software issue. The software that you are using to record has to be told to record to both channels. Out of space.
@gkirby62 Wow quick reply, awesome. Yeah I'm trying to find a good/different software that will allow me to do that now (via webcam/video recording). Not sure whats out there at the moment, but thanks for the info. =]
Yes and no. It will help to eliminate and noise created by vibration around the mic. The mic stand that comes with it works fine for most purposes however. But, to get the mic close to your face and make it more convenient its best to use some sort of extendable arm/mic mount and a shock mount.
No, it will not. Pro Tools will only work with certain Pro Tools approved mics and amps. I have used Pro Tools with a mic port pro and an inexpensive mic and it worked great.
Hi have a question... Just bought this gtrack mic and my problem is u cnt hear my voice in my headset all i can hear is my music... And when i recorded it my voice is so tiny that u cant even hear it... I dunno what to do though my mic and volume is alredy in max. Level! Please help
I have not used the at2020 personally, so I really can not tell you the differences, but I do know the reviews are quite good for the at2020. Overall, its probably a toss up.
I won't go as far as to bash the Samson, but it really boils down to the quality of the built in preamp. Its a bit underpowered and isn't super clean so you tend to have to run the gain up to the higher levels unless you are really close to it. I was concerned about this issue myself and bought another mic and a micport pro preamp to see the difference. It was night and day, much cleaner, no hiss regardless of gain setting. So no, not much you can really do, imho.
Yes, plug and play. Your computer should easily recognize it as a new usb device and you are up and running. Just use the audio software of your choice.
Sorry gkirby. The earlier post was an extract of the feedback I got when I posted the issue in the Audacity Forum. The post was truncated because it exceeded 500 words and I edited it to make it fit.

Bang. Instant Stereo track, however you may not need that. I think Audacity will cheerfully edit a "real" mono track in a stereo show just fine. Other elves will drop in a confirm that Audacity converts everything to a very high quality internal format for compatibility sake anyway, so it may not be the unnatural act it would seem.

There was a comment stating that stereo recording in Audacity didn't work with this mike. Someone said it can be made to work. Can you throw some light on this? This will really help me make a decision. Thanks.
Its been a while now since I used the mic. What you are trying to do is record in "mono" actually. That is to say, recording the same track on both channels, right and left. All the software I tried had this feature except iMovie. In your audio preferences you would set it to record in mono mode. Otherwise you will only hear sound from one channel. Wish I could be more help but I just don't recall.
this is to everybody that's wondering why the white noise is coming up while speaking in the samson the reason is because he has the mic near his computer so it picks up soundwaves from the computer ! and sorry for my english.... im from sweden :)
More often than not the actual cause of the white noise is noise in the amplifier. The higher quality the amp, the "cleaner" the sound. Case in fact, I also have used the micport pro amp and an inexpensive mic and the sound was clean, clean, clean. No white noise at any sound level, regardless of mic positioning. But then, thats just my experience.
hello , i just bought a G track samson microphone and cant get it to pick up sounds and play them back to me. i have ableton softwear and it wont switch over from my labtop microphone to the G track samson microphone. any tips? thanks so so so so so much!
I've been singing my whole life.. But, now I'm getting really serious about recording and I have never had a condensor microphone so I'm stuck between whether I should buy this or the Blue Yeti :(
A very late reply, but I am betting, from what I have read along the way, that the Blue Yeti will be a superior mic. Really it has more to do with the quality of the amp that is built in to the mic, as opposed to the quality of the sound that you can reproduce. The Samson will reproduce very good quality sound but there may be more background noise at certain recording levels.
Do you know how to record with this mic (Samson G Track USB) in Stereo-sound at Audacity? It works fine in a few programs with Windows XP in stereo already, but I can't get it stereo in Audacity.. :( Please help me!
@JesperMovies Did your problem get solved? I am planning to buy Samson G Track. I am told it comes with CakeWalk Sonar LE recording software. Did you try using that to record?
@JesperMovies Thank you for your reply. I was planning to buy Samson G Track and use it for recording in stereo with Audacity. Audacity ® 1.3.13-beta (Unicode) has a drop down option in its tool bar for mono and stereo intput. I was hoping I could use that if I buy Samson G Track? Are you using Audacity ® 1.3.13-beta (Unicode)? If not you can download that? Have you tried this option?
hey, I just bought this microphone and it produces "hiss" noise even if I turn the mic gain is all the way down to zero. dunno whats happening. I tried two softwares Sonar LE and Adobe Audition, both still receives the "hiss" noise. how do you record sound "hiss" free?
@mjeffdema I had the same problem, go to sound settings than the microphone usually "USB audio codec" and than go to mic properties and there should be a tab that says advanced go there and you could choose the quality that comes out of your mic, worked for me.
Hey buddy. Thanks a lot for the video. Could you please still tell me why is that white noise coming at the background even while using the samson. Also how are u able to eliminate it completely in that short add of yours. All help appriciated :)
Sorry I am so slack for not responding sooner. Sometimes I just don't get around to it since this video has been up for so long. The reason you don't hear the "hiss" during my mock advertisement is because there is background music playing. If you take that away, the hiss is still there. As long as there is background music or whatever in the background the sound the mic records is great. If you need super clean, quiet sound, this preamp is a bit noisy.
This is a superb video. The sound is so rich and full! I do fandubs (lol I'm a nerd) and this is exactly what I'm looking for. But... is it really 7,000? Your joking right? Haha cause if your not.... that's just sad. No microphone should cost THAT much!
HELP I GOT MY G TRACK AND I RAP AND I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE A BEAT I HAVE AND PUT IT IN THE THE SONAR LE RECORDING THING BUT IT WONT LET ME HELP!!!!!!!
Thanks, you know, I just threw this up there for the fun of it, never thought anyone would ever actually view it, but glad you thought it was at least a little helpful.
You can use just about any audio software package for audio capture. The mic is just the device that picks up the audio stream and delivers it to your software. About the only restriction that I am aware of is ProTools, which requires the use of particular pre-amps, although many of them are not overly expensive. The Samson G Track would not work with ProTools because it has a built in pre-amp that is not compatible.
This mic costs in the range of $120 to $150 US at most venders, some with free shipping. Just do a quick search with your favorite search engine and check out some of the stores.
No, this mic has its own power supply built in. All you have to do is plug it into an available usb port, configure your audio settings to recognize the mic and you are ready.
Yes, you just need to set up your computer audio preferences to let it know that you will be using the external mic as opposed to the computer internal mic.
Well, yes and no. I have worked paying jobs for voiceover, but not with this mic. Trying to be brief, the sound quality would be fine, but it does generate much more background, white noise, than a mic and separate preamp. But, for a youtube video, for example, it would be fine, and is easy to use. For better sound quality, and whisper quiet noise level, I would go with a condenser mic and pre-amp, like the micport pro, which is excellent. Still, its a good mic, just not great.
I bought this for vocal recordings. Originally I had a pc and attempted to use the software that came with it, it didnt work. I got a new Imac and hoped that it would work with this computer, again, no. Do not buy this for vocal recordings. It doesnt pick up the sound well and its very quiet and staticy. It doesnt even work with the simple garageband.
LOL, yea, that is funny, I have to admit. I made this video just for the heck of it. It gave me the chance to practice with the mic, ect. There is a lot I would change about it, but, you can't alter the video once it is posted. I never thought it would get 26000 views. Must be a popular mic, pause, smile....
@gkirby62 I use this particular mic(Samson G-Track)for recording music on the network! If you like, go to my channel and check out my last two recordings from September 2008 of which I used the G-Track mic and you'll see what I'm talking about and go to my friend Kayla1557's page and check out her G-Track version of an old 1965 Motown Smokey Robinson & The Miracles hit, too!
Hi I have a program with my soundcard where I can record anything I hear.. If I plug in a usb mic and put my music on to sing and record, will I be able to hear my voice on it after..
Hi. I have noticed that after you have switched to the G-track, there's still a little white noise in the background. I have seen videos of others using this mic as well and there's the same low white noise. Is there any way to remove that noise or reduce it further?
I have addressed this previously, but to try to be brief, not really. The built in pre-amp is not very powerful so the mic isn't as sensitive as it could be. Due to this fact you tend to have to turn the gain most of the way up. The more you turn it up, the more white noise you introduce. As long as you have something else going on in the audio stream you won't notice it, but if its quiet, you probably will. It tends to be best to record with lower gain and enhance the volume with software.
hey man.....i really need your help about G track samson. i cant remove that annoying sound on the mic., do you have an idea how to remove it? i really have a hard time to record vocals because of that sound. please help me. i will wait for your reply....thank you.
Great video! I brought it after looking at your review. I brought it 3 days ago. I get a lots of statics with the microphone. I lower the gain on the microphone but then you can't really hear my voice. I'm running window 7. Do you know how to fix that statics problem?
If you browse some of my replies you will see this mentioned a few times. with that said I will mention again, since the pre-amp isn't overly powerful, you tend to have to keep the preamp turned up quite a bit. Its probably best however, to keep it around half way, then enhance the volume with your audio capture software. You can bring up various frequencies, increase the overall volume and add compression, all of which should help.
How do you get the vocals in both channels? I got this mic today and I am disappointed about it only recording in one side, vocals on left line input on right. It doesn't make much sense to me. Using iMovie.
You have to understand that a mic is a mono source, ie, one channel. In order to hear the same sound from both speakers you have to adjust the audio for "mono". Unfortunately Imovie does not have this capability. Why, I do not know. So, you only here my audio in the left channel. That is why I also included a clip of the mic being used and recorded in Garageband. You will notice that the sound is from both speakers. There are workarounds, but don't have room to discuss here. Best of luck
Yea, its really quite good. The built-in preamp isn't as great as a dedicated model, even something as simple as the centrance micport pro, but overall, for simplicity and quality, its really quite a good mic. In fact, the only real difference, in my opinion, is the preamp, which just isn't quite as clean and certainly not as powerful as stand alone amps. But the quality of sound is very good.
i have this mic and was wondering if there was anyway to hook it up to an amp to use it with a full band, cause i don't really want to buy another mic if i don't have to
As far as I know, you can not run this mic thru an external preamp. In other words, I am not aware of any way to bypass the built in amp. With that said, there are lots of condenser mics at less than $100 or close to that, that are very, very good. Add to the mic a simple preamp, the centrance micport pro and you are set. Its simple and it will sound great.
No, you don't need a mixer. The mixer would have mic preamps built into it, and this mic has its own preamp. As far as recording video, depends on what you are doing. If you are using a hand held camera, you would need to turn the cameras mic's off, and use a computer to capture the sound, setting the software to use this mic as the default.
As far as software, any audio capture program should work just fine, you really don't need anything fancy.
This is a good mic for it's affordable price. Check out our page to hear some tracks recorded with it. Our 12 track E.P. "Vibe With tha Tribe" (recorded with the samson g track) is available for free download at vibewiththatribe.bandcamp.com.
Here is some info from another site since I don't have it:
I have V2 of Audition, and the Audio Setup is under the menu Edit->Audio Hardware Setup. There you can select your audio device and set the default Input/Output channel along with which driver to use. If you see a choice for ASIO or WDM your all set try both to see which works best for you. If your sound is onboard and only has WaveRT or Direct Sound for a choice your best bet is to download ASIO4All and select it as the driver.
That is correct, no power needed, but, you do have to connect this mic to a powered usb port. Typically, on most computers you will have multiple usb ports, but some of them are not powered. If you plug in the mic and it lights up, you've got power. In addition, it is best to run the mic straight into a usb port as opposed to a powered usb hub.
No, I currently use a Marshall condenser mic along with an M Audio pre and Pro Tools, upgraded a bit. To be honest, I don't necessarily think my much more expensive setup sounds better. That is to say, the sonic qualities of the recording are about equal, but the signal path is much cleaner, much less background noise, which is what I needed for voiceover. The preamp that is built into the G Track is fine, but you do have to turn up the gain considerably, and that introduces noise.
This mic is dope for it's low price. To hear some recordings done with the Samson G Track check out our Youtube page. You can also download our 12 track E.P. "Vibe With tha Tribe" for FREE at vibewiththatribe.bandcamp.com (better quality). The whole album was recorded using this microphone.
You know, I had never heard of the Editors Keys. The SL600 looks line a nice piece of equipment. Its a toss up really. If the pre-amp in the 600 is quieter, then I would go with that one, but I don't know about that since I am not familiar with it. But then, different mic's sound quite different on different people, so you just never know. Either way, I don't think you could make a bad move.
Great job on the vid. i just have a question for you. i have had my g track for a few weeks now and i am just now getting the time to work with it. and what i want to do is record vocals. but i want to run music from my computer through my mic and sing to it. now that dosnt sound to hard, but my problem is that i can record the music fine. and i can record my voice fine. but i cannot get the mic. and the line to record or run together. any tips or solutions?
Have to be brief, only get a few words here, one way is to lay down a music track in your software. Open a new track for the vocals, set to mono, play back the music track, listen thru headphones optimally, and sing away. This way you get all the retakes you like but you can still edit your vocal track independently. Alternatively, play the music thru speakers and sing to the music in that fashion. Hope that helps.
I have a question too, I want to buy a boom stand for this microphone. Is this possible? For example, is the MK5 from Samson good for this microphone? Or doesn't it fit?
I am not familiar with that stand, but any boom stand with an attached shock mount should work. The shock mount is basically a mic holder that surrounds the mic with rubber bands and isolates it. You would just need one that will hold it securely, nothing special. Hope that helps.
I and trying to use this mic to record music in garage band, and just like yours its only coming out of the left side when I play it back. Without switching software's is there anything I can do about this?
When you use software to record with a microphone you have to understand that the mic is a "mono" source, not stereo, ie, one channel; use two mic's and you've got stereo. However, with most software, including garageband, you can tell the software to record the mic as a "mono" source and it will record your signal on both right and left channels. Open Garageband, delete the piano track, create new track with real instrument, on the bottom right of page select the source as mono.
@Art2703 As I have stated, time and time again and even on the video, the mic is a mono input and I used Imovie to create the clip and that particular program does not have the ability to create a true mono, on both channels, voice over. It will only play on one channel, in this case, the left channel. The clip I inserted of the fact commercial was done in Garageband and you will notice that it does play on both channels. Currently I use Pro-Tools and different Mic's so this isn't an issue.
I use Garageband that is standard with Mac. There are any number of options and they are all quite good. You can even use Audacity, which is free to download. If you have plenty of cash you could shoot for ProTools, but, its overkill unless you are a pro and really in to editing. For simply capturing the vocals, most applications will do the job reasonably well.
I think alot of people want to work to becoming pro or at least taking the first step forward and noting this i believe that using "protools" would benefit any user as with the overkill they become greater skilled. alot of people use microphones for more then just voice overs and commentary. There are alot of musicians out there who enjoy the
little more complex and in depth differnces between the two " garageband & protools " personally all my friends own protools and we love it :D
I don't disagree at all. In fact, once you become more skilled at using editing software, you will find that the higher end software packages sound better too. I am currently using Adobe Soundbooth, and I get considerably better sound over Garageband. And if you do in fact have any desire to work professionally, something like that or ProTools is best.
Thanks! After watching many video reviews about microphones here on You tube I have decided that this microphone sounds pretty good and have just purchased one off of Ebay...
Well, if you have a professional music supply store nearby your home, they may carry it or could order it for you. Otherwise you can order it online. Just perform a quick search for the G Track on Google or similar and you will find lots of retailers selling it. I bought mine from a retailer in Florida via Ebay. Good luck.
id like to record vocals for punk songs. what would u recommend? what do i need? there are so many diff g track packs, idk which one's good enough for me cause i dont want to spend too much money...would another/cheaper mic do the trick for me as well?
This mic will work for you, regardless of the style of music. Keep this in mind, when you see a pro on stage, performing, chances are he/she is using a microphone that cost less than $100. And often, those same stage mic's are the same ones they use in the studio. Anyway, this mic will definitely do the trick for you. Good luck.
Aight, u convinced me. But I first gotta save some money. I'm short on cash, but when I buy a mic I want a good one so I'll buy it
But I don't know what G track pack to buy, some are around 200 bucks, others around 130 and between. Are there big differences in sound quality between those packs? 200 bucks is a lot of money to me, around 150 is good. But when a pack of 200 bucks sounds a lot better I might wait a lil and save some more money to buy that one
The microphone is the same. I am unsure what the packages might be, but, you will probably fine ones that have a shock mount, which is used to stabilize the mic once it is attached to a mic pole. All of them come with a desk top stand. If you need to mic instruments or need to get it closer to you, you will want to get a mic pole, just a cheap one for about $25 will do. You mic also find a pack with a pop filter. They run about $20 and do help. Hope this helps, good luck.
could you do a video of how you set up the mic? i plugged mine into my mac with garageband and it sounds just fine when i plug in my earphones directly into the mic, but when i record, there is no sound from the recording.
Hmm, its one of two things Bill. One, the gain isn't turned up high enough to "hear" you, so check on that. Generally speaking it will need to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up. Secondly, once the mic is plugged into a usb port you need to go to system preferences and select system preferences, then sound, then click the tab for "input", you should see two inputs, internal mic, and a usb microphone, select that one and that should do it. Good luck.
I am changing my tune about this mic, just a little. Having a standard XLR mic now, and separate preamp, I have something to compare it to. Long story short, the sound of the mic is great, and it will work perfectly for R&B vocals, its easy to connect and use. The downside is that the preamp is noisy, and will add a significant amount of hiss to your recording. As long as there is background music, you will never hear it, and a dose of noise filtering won't hurt either.
Do you know if this mic works with Ableton Live?

@jothi20 No i didn't solve the stereo problem.. but im recording it now in mono and convert it to stereo in Fruity Loops.. the mic is mono.
JesperMovies 2 months ago

I tried two softwares Sonar LE and Adobe Audition, both still receives the "hiss" noise. how do you record sound "hiss" free?
mjeffdema 6 months ago
@mjeffdema I had the same problem, go to sound settings than the microphone usually "USB audio codec" and than go to mic properties and there should be a tab that says advanced go there and you could choose the quality that comes out of your mic, worked for me.

anonymousstranger71 7 months ago
Sorry I am so slack for not responding sooner. Sometimes I just don't get around to it since this video has been up for so long. The reason you don't hear the "hiss" during my mock advertisement is because there is background music playing. If you take that away, the hiss is still there. As long as there is background music or whatever in the background the sound the mic records is great. If you need super clean, quiet sound, this preamp is a bit noisy.

Yes, you just need to set up your computer audio preferences to let it know that you will be using the external mic as opposed to the computer internal mic.
gkirby62 1 year ago
so would you say that this mike is good for voice over work. i want to make a parody video.
HalfbreedTrini 1 year ago
Well, yes and no. I have worked paying jobs for voiceover, but not with this mic. Trying to be brief, the sound quality would be fine, but it does generate much more background, white noise, than a mic and separate preamp. But, for a youtube video, for example, it would be fine, and is easy to use. For better sound quality, and whisper quiet noise level, I would go with a condenser mic and pre-amp, like the micport pro, which is excellent. Still, its a good mic, just not great.

It doesnt even work with the simple garageband.

joeinferno23 1 year ago
Hi. I have noticed that after you have switched to the G-track, there's still a little white noise in the background. I have seen videos of others using this mic as well and there's the same low white noise. Is there any way to remove that noise or reduce it further?
Vlwow 1 year ago
I have addressed this previously, but to try to be brief, not really. The built in pre-amp is not very powerful so the mic isn't as sensitive as it could be. Due to this fact you tend to have to turn the gain most of the way up. The more you turn it up, the more white noise you introduce. As long as you have something else going on in the audio stream you won't notice it, but if its quiet, you probably will. It tends to be best to record with lower gain and enhance the volume with software.
gkirby62 1 year ago
Thanks for the nice review, I'm thinking of buying one of these.

Great video! I brought it after looking at your review. I brought it 3 days ago. I get a lots of statics with the microphone. I lower the gain on the microphone but then you can't really hear my voice. I'm running window 7. Do you know how to fix that statics problem?
flyguyga321 1 year ago
If you browse some of my replies you will see this mentioned a few times. with that said I will mention again, since the pre-amp isn't overly powerful, you tend to have to keep the preamp turned up quite a bit. Its probably best however, to keep it around half way, then enhance the volume with your audio capture software. You can bring up various frequencies, increase the overall volume and add compression, all of which should help.
gkirby62 1 year ago
Your vocals are only on the left.
How do you get the vocals in both channels? I got this mic today and I am disappointed about it only recording in one side, vocals on left line input on right. It doesn't make much sense to me. Using iMovie.
PharaohKD 1 year ago
You have to understand that a mic is a mono source, ie, one channel. In order to hear the same sound from both speakers you have to adjust the audio for "mono". Unfortunately Imovie does not have this capability. Why, I do not know. So, you only here my audio in the left channel. That is why I also included a clip of the mic being used and recorded in Garageband. You will notice that the sound is from both speakers. There are workarounds, but don't have room to discuss here. Best of luck

is this mic good?
please write back
1TheGamer 1 year ago
Yea, its really quite good. The built-in preamp isn't as great as a dedicated model, even something as simple as the centrance micport pro, but overall, for simplicity and quality, its really quite a good mic. In fact, the only real difference, in my opinion, is the preamp, which just isn't quite as clean and certainly not as powerful as stand alone amps. But the quality of sound is very good.

i have this mic and was wondering if there was anyway to hook it up to an amp to use it with a full band, cause i don't really want to buy another mic if i don't have to
Labellyy 1 year ago
As far as I know, you can not run this mic thru an external preamp. In other words, I am not aware of any way to bypass the built in amp. With that said, there are lots of condenser mics at less than $100 or close to that, that are very, very good. Add to the mic a simple preamp, the centrance micport pro and you are set. Its simple and it will sound great.
gkirby62 1 year ago
Wow beautiful sound.
Sis please help me out-
1. Do i need a mixer for USB condenser microphones ?
2. How do you record video+sound at the same time? What software shall i use?
thewisemoney 1 year ago
@thewisemoney no u don't' need a mixer, u just plug it in and its ready to go. You will need sound recording software though.
louisg7594 1 year ago
No, you don't need a mixer. The mixer would have mic preamps built into it, and this mic has its own preamp. As far as recording video, depends on what you are doing. If you are using a hand held camera, you would need to turn the cameras mic's off, and use a computer to capture the sound, setting the software to use this mic as the default.
As far as software, any audio capture program should work just fine, you really don't need anything fancy.

So this USB G-Track Samson doesn't need additional power to power it up?
syukranorg 1 year ago
That is correct, no power needed, but, you do have to connect this mic to a powered usb port. Typically, on most computers you will have multiple usb ports, but some of them are not powered. If you plug in the mic and it lights up, you've got power. In addition, it is best to run the mic straight into a usb port as opposed to a powered usb hub.
gkirby62 1 year ago
How did you enjoy the G_Track? You ever used a Samson mic or a AKG mic or a Neumann mic?
Chicago10281 1 year ago
No, I currently use a Marshall condenser mic along with an M Audio pre and Pro Tools, upgraded a bit. To be honest, I don't necessarily think my much more expensive setup sounds better. That is to say, the sonic qualities of the recording are about equal, but the signal path is much cleaner, much less background noise, which is what I needed for voiceover. The preamp that is built into the G Track is fine, but you do have to turn up the gain considerably, and that introduces noise.
gkirby62 1 year ago
@gkirby62 Hi, you mention using a Marshall mic. Which model do you use?
Thanks. Your sample voice over sounds really good. Great work. I'm looking to set up a podcasting station.

Samson GM1U G-Track vs editors keys sl600
darkangelmak 1 year ago
You know, I had never heard of the Editors Keys. The SL600 looks line a nice piece of equipment. Its a toss up really. If the pre-amp in the 600 is quieter, then I would go with that one, but I don't know about that since I am not familiar with it. But then, different mic's sound quite different on different people, so you just never know. Either way, I don't think you could make a bad move.

wrigy6 1 year ago
Have to be brief, only get a few words here, one way is to lay down a music track in your software. Open a new track for the vocals, set to mono, play back the music track, listen thru headphones optimally, and sing away. This way you get all the retakes you like but you can still edit your vocal track independently. Alternatively, play the music thru speakers and sing to the music in that fashion. Hope that helps.

I have a question too, I want to buy a boom stand for this microphone. Is this possible? For example, is the MK5 from Samson good for this microphone? Or doesn't it fit?
pisserke8420 1 year ago
I am not familiar with that stand, but any boom stand with an attached shock mount should work. The shock mount is basically a mic holder that surrounds the mic with rubber bands and isolates it. You would just need one that will hold it securely, nothing special. Hope that helps.

I and trying to use this mic to record music in garage band, and just like yours its only coming out of the left side when I play it back. Without switching software's is there anything I can do about this?
DouglasMikelas 1 year ago
When you use software to record with a microphone you have to understand that the mic is a "mono" source, not stereo, ie, one channel; use two mic's and you've got stereo. However, with most software, including garageband, you can tell the software to record the mic as a "mono" source and it will record your signal on both right and left channels. Open Garageband, delete the piano track, create new track with real instrument, on the bottom right of page select the source as mono.

You should also learn how to use the microphone to make stereo sound, meaning left and right sound coming out too...
Art2703 1 year ago
@Art2703 As I have stated, time and time again and even on the video, the mic is a mono input and I used Imovie to create the clip and that particular program does not have the ability to create a true mono, on both channels, voice over. It will only play on one channel, in this case, the left channel. The clip I inserted of the fact commercial was done in Garageband and you will notice that it does play on both channels. Currently I use Pro-Tools and different Mic's so this isn't an issue.

Hey, I hope you answer this little question ;)
Which software do you use to record your voice with this mic?
greetings ;)
2Jungs 2 years ago
I use Garageband that is standard with Mac. There are any number of options and they are all quite good. You can even use Audacity, which is free to download. If you have plenty of cash you could shoot for ProTools, but, its overkill unless you are a pro and really in to editing. For simply capturing the vocals, most applications will do the job reasonably well.
gkirby62 2 years ago
I think alot of people want to work to becoming pro or at least taking the first step forward and noting this i believe that using "protools" would benefit any user as with the overkill they become greater skilled. alot of people use microphones for more then just voice overs and commentary. There are alot of musicians out there who enjoy the
little more complex and in depth differnces between the two " garageband & protools " personally all my friends own protools and we love it :D
cameronklim 1 year ago
I don't disagree at all. In fact, once you become more skilled at using editing software, you will find that the higher end software packages sound better too. I am currently using Adobe Soundbooth, and I get considerably better sound over Garageband. And if you do in fact have any desire to work professionally, something like that or ProTools is best.

id like to record vocals for punk songs. what would u recommend? what do i need? there are so many diff g track packs, idk which one's good enough for me cause i dont want to spend too much money...would another/cheaper mic do the trick for me as well?
ForAllDisparity 2 years ago
This mic will work for you, regardless of the style of music. Keep this in mind, when you see a pro on stage, performing, chances are he/she is using a microphone that cost less than $100. And often, those same stage mic's are the same ones they use in the studio. Anyway, this mic will definitely do the trick for you. Good luck.
gkirby62 2 years ago
@gkirby62
Thnx for ur reply
ForAllDisparity 2 years ago

BillRad127 2 years ago
Hmm, its one of two things Bill. One, the gain isn't turned up high enough to "hear" you, so check on that. Generally speaking it will need to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up. Secondly, once the mic is plugged into a usb port you need to go to system preferences and select system preferences, then sound, then click the tab for "input", you should see two inputs, internal mic, and a usb microphone, select that one and that should do it. Good luck.

Is it good for RnB vocals?
quanmusik 2 years ago
I am changing my tune about this mic, just a little. Having a standard XLR mic now, and separate preamp, I have something to compare it to. Long story short, the sound of the mic is great, and it will work perfectly for R&B vocals, its easy to connect and use. The downside is that the preamp is noisy, and will add a significant amount of hiss to your recording. As long as there is background music, you will never hear it, and a dose of noise filtering won't hurt either.
