  • my mom just met him and buy his book on 11th of this month. my mom feels sorry for him...a person like him is innocent and should'nt be tortured

  • Ahhhhhh the fateful years.....;)))))))

  • This is just so sad.....may it be a lesson for all humanity. Be at peace grandpa...

  • HOw this get 1 dislike?

  • I have met this man and purchased his book while on a visit to Tuol Seng, he was kind enough to sign it for me. The thing that was most gripping in his story was his statement that the torture he personally experienced was nothing compared to the mental anguish of not knowing where his wife was or what was happening to her.

  • The title of his book is bou meng. I'm not sure where u can buy it. I bought it when I met him at the genocide museum

  • I met this man yesterday. He was selling copies of the book that was made about him in the genocide museum in Phenom Phenh. I was very humbled to meet him. He is one of only 14 people who made it out of that prison. For years, everyone thought he was dead, and then he appeared. I'm reading the book now.

  • @kitgyrl what is the titled of that book

  • @SophiaSweethart The book's name is Bou Meng, a Survivor from the Khmer Rouge Prison S-21. There's a slogan on the front page that reads "Justice for the future not just for the victims". I'm very lucky to be able to meet the man and take a picture with him, he sits in a chair next to a book stand near the end of the genocide museum.

  • Khmer rouge was no better than pigs, rats, and other scum!

I can see how the ghosts of S21 is still haunting this man... poor guy...

  • so sad.

  • I want to buy his Artistic painting. Where can I meet him? I am feeling very sorry for him. Please help provide with information where he is locate. Thank you and God bless him.

  • @kmpro123 i met him at the Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. I'm not sure he still sells his paintings but he does give out autographs and you can buy his book for about $10. He's usually there sitting by the book stand, opposite Block C of the prison.

    Hope this helps.

  • were can people buy his paintings?

  • wow i'm very sorry that you had to go through that SIR, I feel your pain..I was born in Cambodia 1973, at the age of 5 I remember seeing a man being torture, they held both his arms back, closed his mouth and poor water down his nose using a tube..when Khmer Rough took over it was hell on earth, this man had been tortured by the Devil's Army, I wish someone who is in a better condition than me would help him.

  • I will buy his arts if I see him

I love you Cambodia and fuck you china

  • @tungchankiet What's with the "fuck you" to my country?

  • @tungchankiet Why are you saying Fuck You to China?

  • @JimNagle87 I enjoy how four words could make people like you tweak out of control. Your capitalization of words serves the purpose of letting others know you're an asshole.

  • God will reward him

  • @genraz Such a easy way to brush the world's injustice aside... I say to you, sir BULLSHIT. God will NOT reward this man, nor would any loving God allow such horror to happen to innocent people. All the more reason why PEOPLE should APPRECIATE their one life - to stand up and ACT to make this world a better place. Two hands working, can do more than a thousand clasped in prayer. Stop looking to the super natural for a solution to the worlds problems.

  • i have visit this place, as a tourist. everytime i see this place i can feel the intence pain and suffering. i hope that all the victoms found rest in some paradise far far away from this conflicted and diveded created human society. Don´t forgot we are all guest on this wonderfull planet wich we have changed into a terror place. bless cambodia and bless all human beings suffering this kind of circumstances

  • I would very much like to buy one of this man's paintings. I have no idea where he is, what his name is locally, or how to contact him. If anyone has information on this, please send me a message so I can contact him personally. Thank you.

  • shit like this happens everyday. its sick.

  • Man, that Pol Pot guy made everyone turn on each other. I just wanna beat the shit out of him and cut his head off.

  • Cold war and nuclear arms should have not happend,

america had created an a disaster, good and bad when bombing hiroshima and nagasaki

  • The khmer rouge destroyed this poor mans life, just like they destroyed so many other lives....it should never have happened....

  • I would REALLY appreciate it if this document kept the original Khmer language with English/French/German/Japanese, ect caption. Voice-over, especially with bad accent talent, simply destroys the powerful content of what the victim/interviewee has to say.

  • FUK, my uncle was beatin till death there. FUKIN STUPID POL POT. My Mother Cried wen i showed her this video it reminded her about her brother being killed there.

  • Mormons are not that much different. Another hate filled group that persecutes others.

  • the man(Duch) who had him paint is being trialed! hope he get what he deserve

  • @MistaGreyDay If I have it my way, that murderous thug Duch along with his whole family would have been six feet underground a long time ago. Screw the trail. It's a monkey show and a waste of money/energy.

  • i would wanna give that grandpa a hug..innocent guy like this should really live happily.

  • the translator really need to be changed..sorry but it's just too obvious

  • @KitSamka The translator/voiceover so-called talent has a really bad English accent. English caption would be more effective.

  • Poor old guy. If someone gathered some of his art for a proper exhibition, to raise awareness about the injustices in Cambodia, he'd probably walk away with a pretty good profit.

  • The whole thing in this page doen't make sence to me.

  • All wars were fought because of Money and Power...when money disappears...the power Grabbing and corruption will dissapear too. Then Humanity will be free.

  • God bless him

  • You can really feel his pain :(

  • what the fuk is the current cambodia government doing for him? why can't the current government help this poor guy.

  • they don't really have a government, well it's a piss poor excuse for a government anyway

  • @ZBevis Those Khmer Rouge guerrilla are nothing more than monkey. Most of them (if not all) were/are illiterate. What could they possibly know about running a country, public policy, international law, ect...? They're good at killing, destroying, and taking stupid orders from their master; The Red Chinese.

  • Exactly what i was saying! a very poor excuse for a government!

  • poor guy. thats all i got to say.

  • where is this man a? I want to donate some money. please someone help me. I am going to Cambodia at the end of this year. I feel horrible. I think we should take khmer rouge's properties and give them to this poor guy.. Those Khmer Rouge don't deserve to own anything.

  • He sometimes visit tuol sleng. I saw him once when i there, but never went up to him to say hi or asked. It wouldn't be polite.

  • God Bless Him

  • Then you should be skin alive and burn in hell for eternity.

  • your a fucking idiot. You dont even know what your saying. seriously. A fucking idiot. cool guy.

  • FUCKIN HEAVY

  • OMG! I don't want to trade lifes with this man.

  • I am literally tearing up right now...so sad to see what my people have gone through.

  • I feel so sorry for this poor gentleman.....

  • God love him he was actually painting in prison to survive that is unreal, your heart would go out to him and his wife god rest her soul

  • This is so sad I feel like cryin.Me a person who had his feelings suppressed by living in the inner city and seeing death betrayal and lawlessness. This is the reality of those who don't live in the U.S who are randomly brutalized by their own Government.Wheres his chance to earn a decent living, get a grant for school, get a student loan, buy a house raise a family or write the Governor, President or the ACLU and ask for justice & wifes where abouts? What makes me so deserving of these things?

  • Alot of f'd up stuff happens in the US too.

In fact, ignorance, and policies of the US is (in LARGE) part of the reason why Cambodia went completely out of it's mind. A decade of bombing. Much more. IGNORANCE!

  • i cant believe he never found out what happened to his wife..the greatest thing in life is to find a woman that you fall in deep love with and have a family and to hear this is fucking sad

  • That is the story of millions of Cambodians

  • La Khmer Rouge killed millions of ppl during that era...of course the world did not intervene as there were no oil or minerals to be gained in Kampuchea:( But luckily the commies from Vietnam invaded the country and forced the regime to lose its power temporarily. So many lives were lost and so many people were literally decapitated. Guess who supported the Khmer Rouge? Yes you guessed right! Former USSR and China!

  • Who else??? The U.S!

  • The Cambodians hated the Vietnamese during the time for battle of land. The Vietnamese sided with the soviets, whereas the Cambodians sided with the Chinese. The Chinese and the Soviet had some dispute against each other, so basically Cambodia and Vietnam were pawns during that time.

  • REMEMBER that the USA supported these bastards!

  • Remember what the America Left tells you.

The Communist takeover of SE Asia was all

about liberation. Jane Fonda said so.

  • Something should be done for him.

  • omg i cant stop crying ... this is so sad.

  • This is an outrage against humanity and a damning indictment of any member of this so called civilized world in which we live who stood by and did nothing and does nothing even now . . .

  • This is heartbreaking!

I have to comment, though, I think AlJazeera's "First Person" series is VERY powerful form of reporting.

  • What a poor man
