I have met this man and purchased his book while on a visit to Tuol Seng, he was kind enough to sign it for me. The thing that was most gripping in his story was his statement that the torture he personally experienced was nothing compared to the mental anguish of not knowing where his wife was or what was happening to her.
I met this man yesterday. He was selling copies of the book that was made about him in the genocide museum in Phenom Phenh. I was very humbled to meet him. He is one of only 14 people who made it out of that prison. For years, everyone thought he was dead, and then he appeared. I'm reading the book now.
@SophiaSweethart The book's name is Bou Meng, a Survivor from the Khmer Rouge Prison S-21. There's a slogan on the front page that reads "Justice for the future not just for the victims". I'm very lucky to be able to meet the man and take a picture with him, he sits in a chair next to a book stand near the end of the genocide museum.
I want to buy his Artistic painting. Where can I meet him? I am feeling very sorry for him. Please help provide with information where he is locate. Thank you and God bless him.
@kmpro123 i met him at the Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. I'm not sure he still sells his paintings but he does give out autographs and you can buy his book for about $10. He's usually there sitting by the book stand, opposite Block C of the prison.
wow i'm very sorry that you had to go through that SIR, I feel your pain..I was born in Cambodia 1973, at the age of 5 I remember seeing a man being torture, they held both his arms back, closed his mouth and poor water down his nose using a tube..when Khmer Rough took over it was hell on earth, this man had been tortured by the Devil's Army, I wish someone who is in a better condition than me would help him.
@JimNagle87 I enjoy how four words could make people like you tweak out of control. Your capitalization of words serves the purpose of letting others know you're an asshole.
@genraz Such a easy way to brush the world's injustice aside... I say to you, sir BULLSHIT. God will NOT reward this man, nor would any loving God allow such horror to happen to innocent people. All the more reason why PEOPLE should APPRECIATE their one life - to stand up and ACT to make this world a better place. Two hands working, can do more than a thousand clasped in prayer. Stop looking to the super natural for a solution to the worlds problems.
i have visit this place, as a tourist. everytime i see this place i can feel the intence pain and suffering. i hope that all the victoms found rest in some paradise far far away from this conflicted and diveded created human society. Don´t forgot we are all guest on this wonderfull planet wich we have changed into a terror place. bless cambodia and bless all human beings suffering this kind of circumstances
I would very much like to buy one of this man's paintings. I have no idea where he is, what his name is locally, or how to contact him. If anyone has information on this, please send me a message so I can contact him personally. Thank you.
I would REALLY appreciate it if this document kept the original Khmer language with English/French/German/Japanese, ect caption. Voice-over, especially with bad accent talent, simply destroys the powerful content of what the victim/interviewee has to say.
FUK, my uncle was beatin till death there. FUKIN STUPID POL POT. My Mother Cried wen i showed her this video it reminded her about her brother being killed there.
@MistaGreyDay If I have it my way, that murderous thug Duch along with his whole family would have been six feet underground a long time ago. Screw the trail. It's a monkey show and a waste of money/energy.
Poor old guy. If someone gathered some of his art for a proper exhibition, to raise awareness about the injustices in Cambodia, he'd probably walk away with a pretty good profit.
All wars were fought because of Money and Power...when money disappears...the power Grabbing and corruption will dissapear too. Then Humanity will be free.
Many pro-communist peace activists make dead wrong argument that millions of Vietnamese would be saved without the Vietnam war given the fact that millions of Vietnamese lost their lives in "re-education" camps and at sea on their journey for freedom after 1975; not mentioning two milliions of Cambodians executed by Khmer Rouge backed by China. In fact, Vietnam war is an ideological war between capitalism and communism like the current Afghanistan war is a war between democracy and terrorism.
@ZBevis Those Khmer Rouge guerrilla are nothing more than monkey. Most of them (if not all) were/are illiterate. What could they possibly know about running a country, public policy, international law, ect...? They're good at killing, destroying, and taking stupid orders from their master; The Red Chinese.
where is this man a? I want to donate some money. please someone help me. I am going to Cambodia at the end of this year. I feel horrible. I think we should take khmer rouge's properties and give them to this poor guy.. Those Khmer Rouge don't deserve to own anything.
This is so sad I feel like cryin.Me a person who had his feelings suppressed by living in the inner city and seeing death betrayal and lawlessness. This is the reality of those who don't live in the U.S who are randomly brutalized by their own Government.Wheres his chance to earn a decent living, get a grant for school, get a student loan, buy a house raise a family or write the Governor, President or the ACLU and ask for justice & wifes where abouts? What makes me so deserving of these things?
In fact, ignorance, and policies of the US is (in LARGE) part of the reason why Cambodia went completely out of it's mind. A decade of bombing. Much more. IGNORANCE!
i cant believe he never found out what happened to his wife..the greatest thing in life is to find a woman that you fall in deep love with and have a family and to hear this is fucking sad
La Khmer Rouge killed millions of ppl during that era...of course the world did not intervene as there were no oil or minerals to be gained in Kampuchea:( But luckily the commies from Vietnam invaded the country and forced the regime to lose its power temporarily. So many lives were lost and so many people were literally decapitated. Guess who supported the Khmer Rouge? Yes you guessed right! Former USSR and China!
The Cambodians hated the Vietnamese during the time for battle of land. The Vietnamese sided with the soviets, whereas the Cambodians sided with the Chinese. The Chinese and the Soviet had some dispute against each other, so basically Cambodia and Vietnam were pawns during that time.
This is an outrage against humanity and a damning indictment of any member of this so called civilized world in which we live who stood by and did nothing and does nothing even now . . .
O Human beings if you do not turn to Allah the Prevailing the One, the Absolute. How will we justify our existence? May He come to this man before his death. Allah promises Eternal life. Away from the sorrows and pains in this world.
