On CBS.com twitter, Bruno Heller had a tweet session. He said 'Yes, Red John has been visible in prior Episodes. You've got to look for him like Waldo.' Which leads me to believe that it IS the guy in red. And if not, it at least proves that Bradley Whitford is NOT the real Red John.
If it's the guy in red who stands up and leaves when Patrick goes over to "Red John". I'd like to add to this theory, if youve seen the preview of season 4 you'll know Patrick is in jail because they say the man had no gun on him but we know he had. The guy in the red shirt who leaves has short black hair at the end when the two cops come you only see the face of one, the other we only see the back of his head (short black hair) maybe its that guy and he got changed quickly to frame Patrick!?!

The guy in the red sweater is also sitting directly in the middle of the red circle on the floor of the mall, which you can see clearly right at the end when Jane get's arrested.
Wait. The real red john could have just told bradley whitfords character to say that. There's so many ways that the series could go on with the supposed RJ's death.

Brad is just... Wow! He's such an excellent actor. I really hoped that he could've been in the show for a few more episodes, maybe for the next season. That ain't going to happen. Then I hoped for him to co-star with Michael C. Hall in Dexter for season 6, and it turns out that Colin Hanks snagged that role. :(

I think Grace should be kicked out of the CBI. She's been so gullible and reckless with her personal life and got others in danger as a result. First Dan was revealed to be a killer and O'Laughlin was Red John's Mole! I'm not surprised to find out that O'Laughlin was the mole in the CBI.

I absolutely freaking LOVE the way he says "I'm just messing with you," out of the blue, at 4:30. Just the way he goes from indifferent, to irritated, to suddenly gleeful is amazing to watch.
Now we finally realize that the Jane has always been carrying a gun in his pocket the past 3 years, and his hands in the pocket habit was an act all along...
@MishaAtreides I don't think he has been carrying a gun for the last 3 years, but he planned to when the time was ready, that's why he was always throwing people of with remarks like"you people and your guns" but since he saw the meeting with red john as emminent he did carry it that time.
@MishaAtreides I don't know if that's true... he just got a gun earlier this season from that man they helped. Jane hates guns, I just think putting the gun in his pocket now was hidden BY the fact that he always has his hands in his pockets.
what I gather from others, Red John was indeed killed by Jane. The writers might provide a twist such as red john is not a person, but an organization. The red john that Jane killed was indeed the red john that killed his family. Evident that this red john was able to speak out such personal details of Jane's family, their scent. Only the true killer, who came into close contact with his victims, can recall their scent. It's psychological evidence.

@sukikatsura Yeah, I think he really does have feelings for Lisbon. At some point Red John asks him to get a life, a wife and to form a family to which Jane answers after I'm done with you (not exact words). And when Lisbon has the bomb attached to her, he says something along the lines "I wanted to tell you something for so long now", but I don't really know if that was just meant to distract the bad guy behind the door. I hope Patrick doesn't get together with Kristina :/ Lisbon please xD
