Amo este tema. Esta ejecucion es magistral. Es una pieza muy nostalgica y que me traer preciosos recuerdos ligados a la lecturas de los libros de Orhan Pamuk....
Yea. It is interesting to listen when Brad is talking about his music.
He is a master in mixing music from different idioms like no other. Watch his intro to Countdown #1. So much classical influences. I have never seen such a left hand before.
I discovered one of his most beautiful pieces last week, Number 19. Larry play a great solo on that.
Have you seen my fight with the coconut blogdocrato under O Que Sera. He think that Brad is imitating Jarrett. That makes me so upset.
some torrent site...I forget which, but this performance of goodbye storyteller is one of the best things i've ever heard brad play, I'm listening as I write this..incredible
I bought elegic cycles and I got to say I love it. But man he plays totally different on the album, got to say I preffer how he plays here. Seems more inspired, maybe because hes in germany, and its where Schumann and others that influenced these compositions came from. But wow hes playing so fluid and hes getting such a sound from the piano. Its seems like he is playing a bit more flashy on the album which I dont like, but maybe piano players will dig that.
Billandgates doesn't know shit about music.. What a phony! Do u feel empowered being able to dump ur crappy brainless opinion on here and have it appear amid real comments, from real people? What do u think mehldau would say if u called his trio 2/3 mediocre to his face.. Get a life smacktard!
Really interesting documentary. The album Elegiac Cycle is one of those, which grab you more and more each time you listen to it. I enjoy his Elegies with the same sort of nostalgy and (as he says) feeling of mortality, like for example with Preludes by Shostakovich. Yes, Mehldau is for me that deep. Thanks for uploading this, by the way.
I agree with all the comments. This makes me glad to be alive. Brad plays with such elegance and grace and speaks with so much intelligence. This is superb!
these recording are just simply great, thanks for the effort to share it with others. I love Mehldau, my favourite pianist by far...nice surprise here on youtube.
Posting them on here is good for me to. It makes it very convenient when I want to re-watch parts of it, which I do ALL THE TIME!! Brads music is a big part of my life..and my peace of mind :)
"Saying goodbye to something" is just so beatiful. Saying goodbye to a part of the life, or former life...it feels so great to hear that for some reason...dont know why. Got very touched by that. Best, Sandemose
i promise i will ASAP! this is my favorite performance of the whole video...not that they all aren't mindbogglingly amazing, but there is something so tender about this one...
That seems like a very small venue. It sure would've been nice to see where they were stuffing that full-on symphony orchestra that I'm hearing. I mean... where are they. I don't see them. I love that smile he messes up... beautiful music.

@SFuNk24 I find it comforting. Much like knowing he has real self-doubts about his playing. There's an essay talking about it.

Very refreshing to hear someboby going the hard way. Something Keith J. never did, never had to...
Really strong left. Astonishing. He is so much more all by himself. He doesn't need any of his (mediocre) partners.

There are parts in this song that sound so intensely personal and aching that you can't help but become overwhelmed.
