saw them at bonnaroo. The three greatest feelings in life are falling in love with someone, discovering a crazy good band, and reading an awesome book. When I learned about these guys I was drawn in, but I after I saw their live I was hooked for life. Listen to Blakroc, their hip hop collabo.
Ya Know...heard alot about them...thought it was a pop band...gonna go hunt down some of this today. Oh...Check out "Left Lane Crusers"...its a little speedier with slide...good stuff.
i went from having no clue who the fuck these guys are to absolutely fucking loving them...i know more black keys riffs than any other band. Dan's solo shit is awesome too. i saw it live and it was just perfect. seen the keys live too and that was just killer too
That's exactly what happened to me, I found myself learning all their stuff, and they have totally rekindled my love for playing blues guitar. And they got me into Captain Beefheart and J.K. Great band.

You like dah moderne blooze then have a listen to Paul Jones radio show on BBC Radio 2 website etc. Great Brit blues players coming up include Danny Bryant, Aynsley Lister, Dani Wilde, Ian Parkewr, Oli Brown and so on.
These guys are fantastic. However, the best blues today is coming out of the guitar of Joe Bonamassa. Period!
Not taking anything away from these guys, though, because they're doing their thing. But when people state that these guys are the best blues/bluesrock artists out today, one must eventually do their research.
you'd be amazed how wonderful they are live. Dan makes it sound like more than just one guitarist. it is truly amazing. I was not bored, not for one second. I was entranced!
dont even talk shit on the white stripes, man. jack has his shit together......fuck you for saying hes a sellout, he does what he does dude. hes a wonderful MUSiCiAN, and thats all that matters.
i can't believe all the comments comparing white stripes to this band...i can't stand jack white...he's a sell out and imo not as talented as the black keys, whatever genre you wanna call w.s.
They are similar. Low fidelity duos. And obviously you haven't heard all of the White Stripes songs. Like almost all bands, they're songs have changed throughout the years. You should probably know what you're talking about before you post stupid shit for all to see. Otherwise someone might come along and show you how much of a dumbass you are.
indeed, i may not have heard all of the white stripes' songs, but i have heard some; i wasn't comparing styles, i was comparing talent (which are two different things--anyone can mimic a style, but only those with an inherent gift can have talent), and you'll note in my comment that i said "imo", which is, simply stated, just my opinion.
The stripes can pull off the punk delta blues thing quite well. The Black Keys tend to take the hypnotic Kimbrough approach. Different styles, both awesome. Obviously Son House was a big influence on Dan and Jack.
two totally different styles, only common ground is both groups are 2 person groups, and have a sound greater than we think of as 2 people. Dan & Pat (Black Keys) are beyond comparison, best I've ever heard in their style of music, period! But, Jack & Meg, my gawd, they are very, very good in a far much different way, Icky Thump is a killer set of tunes. These 2 bands should not be compared, other than the fact they both have 2 members.........
no, you should compare them. they are both guitar and drum, both draw on old blues for roots, both use a slide. I mean, for god's sake, how similar do you have to get??
Anyway, though I do love them, Jack White needs to sit in front of this guy and learn.

The date on this video cannot be correct, I saw them in October and Dan's hair was twice as long and had just the biggest raunchiest beard ever! couldnt have grown it in a month. Plus he used his new white guitar on the 06 tour.
Such a simple song, but it says so much. Patrick is killing the drums while Dan makes the guitar bleed. This jam is the shit.
