@zyglorb youre very right about the sax player's inntonation and i couldve sworn that everyone is entiled to thier own opinion so everybody down about his comment because i thought the sax player ruined the whole thing and plus i ran the solo through a tuner and he was flat so stop ridin him like hes acually going to care
I am totaly amazed about how it is possible to fight about music. Somebody may like something, somebodyelse may like somethingelse but music is NEVER a competition, not between musicians , not between listeners
@gstinga according to you, maybe it should be (although perhaps you could look e.g. into Minton's Playhouse and the evolution of bebop), but regardless there is certainly strife between musicians and listeners (artists and the public standard, if you prefer). I'm expressing this toward zyglorb who has taken up the banner of this popular attitude that I describe in my comment. I would rather not be denied my opinion
@FabledSoup I have said that I am amzed about how it is possible to fight about music. Do you want to deny me the right to feel amazed? Or the right to believe that music is not a competition?
@gstinga That doesn't logically follow. i'm only addressing your implication that all debate over music is fruitless. once again, i urge you to consider the birth and evolution of bebop. "competition" is a word with a culturally determined value, not a universal concept. Hesiod states e.g. that there are two types of strife: embattled (war etc) and competitive. I am not deferring to Hesiod, but you judge "competition" to be negative as such. This is not an absolute truth by any necessity.
wayne's intonation was a little off, stanley clarke's solo was garbage, the drummer sped up at the beginning of his solo also. Hancock killed it though!
@zyglorb dude, i know i responded similarly on another video, but you're absurdly biased. this Jazz Police role that you are assuming is totally uninspired. the american idol mentality of throwing judgments as to which artist is relatively better or not is utterly ridiculous, you sound like the embittered guys who quarrel vacuously with each other over youtube videos of jimi and stevie. these musicians are interdependent with and cultivated by one another. btw, the drummer is stretching time
@zyglorb - what you didn't notice all the bum notes Herbie played? Surely he sucks too? They all suck - look, they smile, and have fun, and they make the audience happy! That's not jazz! That's not what music is for!

I would agree so far as that I have heard Wayne play a lot better. However all the other solos more than make up for it in this video.
