  • DOPE!!!!!!!!!! not FUCK THIS

  • To Æthelflæd, Lady of Mercians!

  • What a fucking epic song

  • Pure awesomness and epicness!

  • @timredman51 They arn't anti-viking.. they are not Norwegian hence the Anglo-Saxon lyrics... English singing about vikings makes no sense whatsoever....

  • perversion

  • 3 people had their bodies broke on Forefather's blades.

  • What is a "Cween"? I tried Google Translate, but no success.

  • Beautiful riffs in this song. Forefather is great, and I only found them a few months ago... way underappreciated!

  • lol, british-viking band... what the fuck?!...

  • @thrashizam they're anglo-saxon metal, not viking metal, and anyway the vikings settled in Britain so yes, such a thing could exist

  • @thrashizam Laugh all you want my friend...........the Vikings settled all over the Island of England. It was virtually theirs up North. The dividing line was Wattling Street. research their history, it may just surprise you. Ever heard of Danelaw? Many, many town & street names are still of Scandinavian influence from the Viking presence. Not so funny now is it?

  • @steverid I din't think it was funny in the first place. I was aware of Vikings' invasion of Britain, but it's strange to me that one would appreciate the culture of the people who raped and murdered one's own. It would be the same if i made a Turkish folk metal band (I'm Serbian, by the way), rather than a Serbian folk metal band. Not that i hold grudges against Turks or anything, but i wouldn't choose their culture over mine because of the fact that I probably have some Turkish blood in me.

  • @thrashizam I understand & I also agree with you. All cultures have committed genocide in some form or another over the centuries. So I do understand what you are saying. I assume that embracing ones ancestry whether or not it is truly ones own makes for good CD sales etc... Subscribing to a "Viking Metal" or a "Black Metal" or "Whatever Metal" is a genre gimmick for sales. I dig the music & I also love the heritage of the Scaninavian Vikings, but I also realize that it was one of the most.....

  • @steverid brutal times in the history of modern civilization. No culture can escape their violence. The Vikings gave us many things we still use to this day. They weren't just bandits & warriors. They were the worlds best navigators & seamen. They eventually settled back within their communities in Scandinavia & became farmers, merchants etc...They married within the royalty of England & are the mixed ancestry of the entire U.K., Russia and many other places of the world.

  • @steverid By the way...........you should start a Serbian Folk Metal Band.that would be cool! In any event, take care,

    Steve

  • @steverid But now I've seen the top comment and I get it... No hard feelings, I hope. :)

  • @thrashizam No worries friend. The Vikings set foot on so much soil of this world. Archeologists are still making discoveries to this very day of their presence & influence. Here in the US historians still aren't giving credit to them for their settlements in North America. They are still teaching the Columbus bullshit. Check out "L'anse aux Meadows" or the "Kensington Runstone". Their history will blow your mind. Take care.

  • @timredman51 Indeed, Anglo-Saxons fought the vikings!

  • Forefather write some great tunes, but I'm Welsh, so the Anglo-Saxon thing is a bit twee.

  • @Grindgodgrind I am a mixture of all British nationalities of britain prior to 1066

  • Fucking awesome! First british band i like!

  • @timredman51 because vikings were attacking anglosaxons but they are from the same tribe...germanics so its related each to other

  • Those 3 that hit the dislike button shall be cut down.

  • Those 3 people shall be cut down.

  • Suðrige part of the ancient Saxon lands -the Southern ridge near the downs.

As an English Nationalist I know exactly where this metal comes from-iron in the soul of our Angelcynn.Betrayed since 1066.We don't forget our Germanic heritage.

The Angles from Angeln gave their name to our sacred land.We honour it. Won by the sword, worked by the plough . Werian se Angelcynn - Defend the English kin.

  • @seaxwielder That´s a good attitude! Question: Could you tell me, who the Cween of the mark was?

  • @Radbod1 'Cween' is a pseudo-Anglo-Saxon spelling of 'queen' and 'mark' means 'marchland'. They may mean AEthelflaed, King Alfred's sister, who defended Mercia (=marchland) against the Danes. But her husband was an earl, not a king.

  • @Oswulf1 Thx a lot, brother! I knew, if anyone could answer this question, it was you! Have a metal day!!!!!!!!

    Hail from Austria!

  • @Oswulf1 - good point, but one thing... Æthelflæd was Ælfred's daughter; Edward's sister

  • @adventussaxonum You're right. My mistake.

  • @seaxwielder Not 'southern ridge' but 'southern district' (OE rige). It was probably originally the southern part of the lands of the Middle Saxons (Middel Seaxe).

  • awesome song, just stumbled to this song. why the fuck isn't this band more well known, im a huge folk metal fan and I've never heard of these guys before ?? i didn't have a clue that England produced such great talent now a days

  • is there any folk metal bands that speek engligh lol

i hate not understanding the lyrics

  • Tyr has much english translations, and Forefathers have many songs in english, it is just hard to understand this kind of vocals if you are not used to them. They are versatile, not all of their songs have death metal vocals.

  • This is english, but it is death metal vocals, so it can be hard to understand if you are not used to them. There are many good Folk Metal bands, this is Pagan Metal as well, like the atheist said there is Tyr, also Turisas has some english, and Ensiferum and Korpiklaani and Equilibrium are popular, there are many others less mainstream, Doomsword is a mix of different types of metal with some folk and pagan themes like in Steel of My Axe

  • Pagan Metal in general is not as well known as it should be, this band is very versatile and they have excellent lyrics and good musicianship, I have shared them with my friends and bought their albums.

  • @jullukka This band is so ug that it almost touches the Earth's core ;D

  • i dont know who the guitar player for this group is, but damn this guy lays down some tasty riffs.

  • its 2 brothers doing all the instruments. and yes, they are mighty fine riffs

  • no u still got it wrong its white powder

  • Forefather are not racist, they are pagan. They seek to remind people of their stolen identity which was enslaved and made illegal by Rome and Christianity. Bronze age Britain and Ireland were great centers of trade, with beautiful cities, bath houses, fortresses, beautiful tombs and monuments, they venerated the trees and the dead and the earth, and they held a stalwart stay against the Christian invaders, they beat Rome back for decades.

  • @Valmarith you do realize that most if not all of those trade centers, beautiful cities, bath houses and fortresses were created by Rome

  • @zWolf1215 No, they were not. The Celts had these things before Rome ever set foot in their land and so did many other civilizations.

  • Rome brought 'civility' to Britian, not to Ireland. Ireland remained unscathed by roman influence. The romans contributed alot of good things to europe, as did the greeks. however, they enforced christianity and destroyed many things that are now lost because of christianity. i dont blame jesus, or romans in general. mostly the deusche bags who ran these things.

  • Before Rome invaded the Celts Britannia and Ireland were hubs of trade and culture for the European world.

The Celts were living as medieval europeans before Roman invaded, they lagged behind Rome about a century in technology because they were not as well positioned to take advantage of advancements of other empires but once their trade routs reached the mediterranean they began to rapidly advance.

But the victors write history, and until Archeology started Rome defined the Celts for us.

  • You seem like you read alot about King Arthur [More of Norman literature lol]. I would say the druids were smart men, infact romans used them as their educators. However, the fact that celts were very clan orientated and did not trust each other and rarely united was their downfall.

  • @seamuspowers Actually the Celts had an empire that spanned the whole of Europe, they had long trade roads some of which stretched into Asia, they had ports and multi-story shops, stone walls, and in many ways lived similar to medieval Europeans, perhaps with more civilized laws regarding women, children, and the elderly.

Roman history depicted them as mindless barbarians but archeology has proven Roman history wrong. The Celts were not xenophobic savages in loin cloths and mud huts.

  • @Valmarith Actually that empire was not one empire but a palette of tens of different tribes that occasionally had tribal wars. They were advanced though, and even more civilised to Roman in my eyes.

  • @cilibinarii It was a Tribal Confederacy Kingdom, similar to the UK in many ways. With the exception of a few anarchic eastern tribes who despised government and naturally raided anyone there were not many conflicts among the Celts. What few conflicts did occur were often organized and to some degree regulated by the other tribes to preserve a code of honor and deciding what rights would go to the victors.

  • @seamuspowers Romans using Druids as teachers probably wasn't very wide-spread. According to historical sources, the Romans wanted to root all Druids out because they formed the cultural and religious basis of the Celtic peoples, so without Druids it'd be harder to revolt.

  • @Valmarith What have the 'Celts' got to do with this music.

Celt is a nationalistic Irish term.It is not certain that any 'Celtic' peoples have ever inhabited the British Islands. The Romano -Brythons certainly never referred to themselves as such.

  • @seaxwielder No 'Celtic' people has referred to themselves as 'Celts' until very recently. Celt is a generalist term for all the different people's that inhabited Europe before the Romans fucked shit up. The Boi and Aedui certainly weren't Irish but they are still considered Celts. Its like how Anglo-Saxon refers to all of the 'English' rather than the Jutes, Saxons, Angles, Frisians etc

  • @Ratchet11243 Not quite, these tribes were able to understand each other as the gemanic tongues had not seperated as much at that stage. They also had the same gods and a similar culture as well as looking very similar.

We hear more and more tales of various people from different continents claiming their 'Celtic' roots-even Native Americans.

Some academics now consider that 'Celts' are a name of cultural and stylistic approach adopted by many different peoples, rather than an ethnic identity .

  • @Ratchet11243 Celts are the gingers of Europe.

  • The problem was the roman emperorers [christian fanatics] and roman clergy which enforced it on whoever they conquered!

  • This is kinda true, but theres a major difference between 'Pride' groups and 'Power' groups. There's nothing wrong with pride in one's culture and ancestry, infact I think it'd be better if all cultures had greater cultural pride and awareness, but racists ruin it for everyone, they give a bad name to Asatru and Theodism (my personal faith).

  • politics, or a persons beliefs is up to them, an Asatruar or Druid can be racist or nonracist. Just as christians are, hindus are, muslims are, jews are etc....... religion and ones view on the world is very different.

  • Sigh, been almost a year since i last listened to this track.. still fuckin great as ever.

  • their best song.

  • nationalism is good, white power=stupidity

then how the aztecs and mayas did so much if they were not white?

  • Why did they eventually fall? Because spaniards, which are basically white people, destroyed them.

  • yeah becuase they alied with Tlaxcaltecas, which are another native mexican tribe, and also because spanish carried a disease which desimated the Aztecs.

  • aztecs also overexploited their resources, which brought about diseases. they lost crops, harvests were bad etc.... also europeans brought diseases but not everything is linked to europeans. many of these civilizations fell apart prior to european arrival too, however their descedants were to weak to fight europeans or asians.

  • @elgatoelectronico Good luck having nationalism without a racial element. 14.

  • @PaganThorn It is sad, but one thing the Nazis did very well was combine Nationalism and Racism, it should not be such and it was not always such. Nationalism is not necessarily a bad thing when the cancer of racism cut away.

  • @elgatoelectronico Nationalism is still bad. Nationalism is bound to be succesed by racism and similar sentiments, for nationalism always draws the line between "them" and "us"

  • @elgatoelectronico Weird comment! who mentioned colours? Sounds as though you may be anti-white...?

  • @elgatoelectronico You are fucktarted stupid! Talking about Aztecs and Mayan non white scum on a viking metal post. Where is your sense of racial pride? Culture? Heritage? Get the fuck off this site! RACE TRAITOR! You have no sense of racial worth. Not a single shred of cultural dignity, or heritage! Go listen to your fifty cents traitor! This is music about Aryan culture. About the Gods of Asgard. A place where you have no say, TRAITOR! By the way white unity equals preservation not stupidity!

  • @wascatsred You are quite wrong! This is not music concerning Aryan culture at all, for Aryan culture evolved somewhere wholly remote from Anglo-Saxon era England, even northern Europe. I see on your profile that you are an American - and your attitude reflects this, the common moron that is the American skinhead.

This is not a nazist's music, this is music for those who long for the days and creed of old, and seek to rekindle it.

  • @Egenoth The longing for the past that you speak of is what drew me to this music in the first place. I wish more people would share this opinion.

  • @wascatsred You are funnier than richard pryor lololol!

  • @elgatoelectronico How did 500 Spaniards conquer and bring down their entire empire? they're white, and white folks are crazy, and creative. We'll build a plane to fly (something that just doesn't happen in nature - a wingless mammal attempting flight) and then go ahead and jump out of the damn thing. Its crazy affirmative, but its also epic WIN. typically you'll find that the whiter a thing/idea the more winning it is. Go ahead and lateralize your thinking. Free gift for you honkey. eat up.

  • @willyrobinson: Your comment is an epic win!!! Good job!

  • @elgatoelectronico sooooo were are the aztecs and mayas now? you dont see many of them around these days do you? your not great unless you and your people can last.

  • saxons and vikings are brothers

sure they fought but their cultures were very similar

    both great peoples

  • But in real life....They were not brothers.

  • I have anscestry from both XD so I can big up whichever I feel like at the time.

I must say though, that when I'm writing music I tend to write about Saxons/Britons rather than Vikings.

  • in fact they were both from Denmark,

  • Angles, Jutes were from Denmark. Saxons came via Frisia, also Frisians came from Netherlands [Frisia]. Saxons were more of the ruling class, probably brought more Frisians over as Mercenaries. Frisians lost much of their land to the Romans, so their small land became over populated and as a result they settled in England. Angles came too, and Jutes. Saxons however were the most prosperous tribe of them all, they didnt have many problems with Rome, so their land wasnt stolen.

  • Viking? I see no Vikings here...

  • traced my family back to northern germany. hails to saxon warriors!

  • nice i'll need to make work of finding out my family records

and Amer doesn't sound dutch to me tho it rather sounds french

  • wel i belong to the dutch part of belgian and one side of my famely comes from england

and lucky ye being able to see your famely tree

  • If you`re interested you could order from Germany, they have some quite good merch.

  • damn ye really did yer homework

i just said what i already knew but thanx for the enlightenment, didn't now my ppl (Belgians lol) came from northern tribes, maibe that explains why i want to go live up north

  • the saxons where a tribe from the areas of northern germany and such but when they raided britain the became the anglo-saxons

  • This band is utter quality. No more, no less. Battle metal with real swords methinks?

  • love it

  • iammockery = degenerate

  • iammockery, lol..shut up. Anyways this song is awesome! My favourite Forefather song.

  • i came !

  • great song!!!

  • Really good song once again!!!!!

  • great metal!!!!!

  • 5*****

  • forefather is the best :>

  • GREAT song,dude!!

  • thier sic i likem

  • good song! whats Anglo-Saxon??

  • Paste from Wikipedia:

Anglo-Saxon is the term usually used to describe the invading tribes in the south and east of Great Britain from the early 5th century AD to the Norman conquest of 1066.

so basically its like viking metal from britain;)

  • cool! thanks

  • @Hollowfaust It's also a synonym for "Old English" or "AEnglisc", the language spoken by those people. The term is (obviously) named after the Angles and the Saxons, two prominent Germanic tribes from Denmark/northern Germany, although the "Old English" people consisted of immigrants from smaller tribes too. Technically they are not vikings though; they didn't sail that much with longboats and actually got raided by real Vikings at the start of the Viking era (Lindisfarne).

  • @Hollowfaust That is a poor definition.

The Engle or Angles came from Angeln in Southern Denmark, the Saxon tribe were from the bordering area in Northern Germany,They were joined by the Jutes and created Angla land- land of the English. They took land as far north as the Forth in what is now Scotland, and took the area to the Welsh border and down to the west which they called Wessex. They were invaders but not 'vikings' as they settled the land and named it after themselves,England.

  • @Hollowfaust Germanic metal is the more precise term, as Vikings were a Germanic folk. ^^

  • @Hollowfaust no its not vikings are so as anglosaxon germanic but if chinesse band was doing songs like this it wouldnt be samurai band from chine

  • @masterofumpalumpa Samurais are Japanese...

  • @Flasher78 omg i know...so aso anglosaxon werent vikings do you understand me?

  • @masterofumpalumpa Yes I understand.. I'm not stupid... I was just correcting you because I thought you didn't know that Samurais were Japanese you twat!

  • @Hollowfaust Germanic metal; from britain

  • @Hollowfaust With your theory they could be aswell Frankish metal or Alemanni metal or Lombardi metal then, they were all Germanic tribes. Vikings were Germanic too.

  • Love this song!!!

  • Great band, great song! Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome song !
