I am trying to edit the host files for my Apache server. How can I save my edited file without using Nano? I tried creating a host file and saving it with Nano but I don't have root permission.
@ashlady1796 You won't be able to save the file if you dont have root access. No matter which text editor you use, you still need permission to edit that file. Maybe you can ask to administrator for the password? If YOU are the administrator, type in "sudo" before you run nano.
@AlejandroBjorg correct, I am using VMware to run Ubuntu inside Windows. This made the networking tutorial a little confusing, but it the easiest way. There are some programs on osalt (open source alternative) that work the same as cam studio.
alot of the commands remind me of the dos operating system, yes im a noob to stuff like unbuntu but i understand dos commands pretty well to my dad taught me alot of them back in the late 80's early 90's

How are you making the screen recording + your voice? Could you tell some details about how you do it?
Thanks for the tuts.

@AlejandroBjorg i used cam studio. It's free software. In the video options you have the option to select "screen and microphone". It works great.

@TechOpenSource Cam studio is a Windows program, so you are using Ubuntu virtualized, right?
