  • What a movie. I've got goosebumps listening to this right now. As cheesy as it sounds, this music takes me back to a time before much stress was in my life :)

  • Ooooh, Hilda! Wanna BreeeeeeEED?!

  • Film mojego dzieciństwa :) !

  • James Horner didn't write the "heroic" theme. It's the opening theme of Schumann's "Rhenish" symphony, rebuggered from 3/4 to 4/4. Horner is a notorious plagiarist who steals classical music unrepentantly, slaps his name on it, and takes credit for it. The satellite scene in Patriot Games? Another ripoff, this time the Adagio (aka "invention") from Khatchaturian's Gayne. He performs this same ripoff in Alien. James Horner can bloody-well blow me.

  • I hate trolls.

pre-empting the internet. this movie has everything!

  • This move was my First Cinema move !!! A good start ...

  • How would anyone feel about a film sequel??? Shadow Moon???

  • Someday, I'll read the books to this. For those of you who don't know, there were two more parts to the story and 2 and 3 are available in novel form.

  • Thank you, James Horner for all that you have given the world.

  • Beautiful, sounds incredibly like The Bulgarian State Choir-Mir Stanke Le, give it a listen :)

  • My 13 year old daughter finds it so sad at the end when Willow returns to the village and him and Kiya run into each others arms. She says the music is just to hard to not like. This was originally a film from when I was 14 or 15 and it's a great film from my past. Now it's one of my eldest daughters favourite films from her childhood. And I'm proud to be able to have that connection with her.

  • @Vaderduder That's awesome.

  • the best part is 0:34-1:13 thumbs up if agree

  • as if i jst saw 2 english pence on ebay for £3

  • when i watched the opening on another video, this music swept in and I almost cried, it fills me with so much.. i dunno... i just LOVE this film and the way it made me feel when I was a kid. It's superbly written and directed, cast is excellent, costumes and props, locations, everything is top quality. I just had to buy it the instant I heard the music, I can't believe I've put it off for so long, I can't wait to watch it now! Now I want to get the soundtrack!!! ARGH!

  • parts of this song sound similar to Jurassic Park. anyone else hear it? Man I love this movie...now I have to go dig up my VHS of this.

  • 2:08 - 3:00 is very similar to the R. Schumann's Symphony nº3, 1º mov

  • @lenny2046 horner reputation for taking is musical idea from somwhere else is legendary, even he copy hymself from film to film ( beautiful mind and bicentanial man) this sound like shuman,

  • James Horner its great =P

  • Fin Razel as a goat: " Maa-aa-ad Mardigaa-an..."

MAd MArdegan: " What the hell happened to yoiu??!"

  • Sorry to get people all worked up... I love Narnia and Willow both so much. I didn't mean to compare the two. I have a bad tendency to do that. I should just let them be separate. They both have their different styles. I'm a big fan of the Narnia books, so the movies were exciting.

I am now known among my friends as the oddball who loves Willow. No joke. I have now seen this movie seven times in the past year and a half. It never gets old.

    "Elora, you don't want me..."

  • Oh man, I missed this soundtrack for 20 years.

  • Fantasy films made in 80's are the best. Return to Oz, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Young Sherlock Holmes, Secret of Nimh, Willow and Original StarWars trilogy are better than modern Twilight or Avatar.

  • So amazingly epic!

  • I loved this movie as a kid...I watched it over and over. Now I see Willow everywhere...Harray Potter, Narnia...

  • @cetarwood1

I saw this movie in theaters 2 times when i was 6 years old and had the merchandise. This movie is the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings of it's time! if you liked this one, check out Thor which is a similar fantasy epic.

  • @Johnlindsey289

    This is a "Thorment"...

  • Help Help. 6 people is getting pointed at with an acorn by a Peck

  • Belle musique !

  • 6 people we're told "out of the way peck!"

  • @JuddFassbender no you mean 6 people were turned into PIGS!!! PIGS ALL PIGS!!

  • 6 people clearly don't like pecks i mean nelwins.....

  • NOT A WOMAN? NOT A WOMAN?

  • From the PAL release. This theme has an uplifted pitch.

  • Still good.

  • I can't believe people are still commenting ont his movie. it's one of the best in my opinion. Good to see people still know good movies. Love the music too. it's been in my head for days so I had to listen..

  • @G0DB0Y25 of course people will still comment on such a movie - films like this will live forever! This is a really classic of a movie, no one can beat that.... :o)

  • one of the movies that shaped my life. really a great film, and the music is not to bad.........

  • Once upon a time, when geroge Lucas created, instead of squeeshing Star wars tits...

  • 1:24 i just think of zelda or final fantasy when i hear this kind of music

  • ah what an absolute classic! This brings back so many memories :o) Madmartigan was my crush as a young girl, want I would have given to be Sorsha!

"It went away?!....I dwell in darkness without you and IT WENT AWAY!!"

  • @minkymoo111 I laughed so hard at this comment. Nice!

  • @G0DB0Y25 Glad that amused you! Like you say it's just nice to see people still appreciate a simply great film!

  • @minkymoo111 SOOO funny.....every time someone says the words "went away" my daughter or I quote that line!!

  • @teojlo lol I am even saying it in my head now :o)

  • this is my one and only favorite movie of all!

When i was a little girl I saw it every day for years..

Willow is such a nice fantasy film..

  • Shivers down my back....

  • the nostalgia!!!

  • Narnia is crap and a Lord of the Rings rip off, 80's kids movies - EPIC WIN

  • loerd of the rings is epic !!

  • @KJglitches1212 Yes I agree, I have the box set.

  • I loved these kind of movies, you know what changed that?? CGI

  • "Ooooh Helga....wanna breed?????"

  • @xangelfshx LOL!!! He was even hot as a woman! :o)

  • majestuosa!

  • This brings back tears of good memories.

    -H-

  • Madmartigan!!!

  • narnia films suck ass big time so sorry wtf willow is very good

  • 2:08 the best.

  • This is exciting and powerful. I've never seen Narnia, but I have seen The Lord of the Rings and the music from Willow is definitely better. On the other side of the coin, it's up there almost with the melody from Jurassic Park.

  • i watched this back when i was only a little kiddie , and like i could watch that film until the day i die

  • Flawless film, like The Exorcist or Last of the Mohicans

  • Dudes, let's face the facts. Narnia will never ever affect you the way Willow has.

  • Best fantasy film ever made! It's even better than Narnia!

  • am I hearing a little bit of Beethoven' pastorale symphony (1st movement) in the main theme starting around 2:09?

  • @bw2082 You think those 4 simple notes were stolen from Beethoven? I could have played that on the keyboard when I was 2. On the other hand, its obvious the duration of that melody and harmony is taken from Schumann's Rhenish Symphony.

  • 5 people got turned into stone by an acorn !

  • @MaxcalderB only fans would know what you meant. thumbs up

  • @MaxcalderB 6 ur retard !!!

  • @WW2xGASER Obviously there were only 5 when he wrote that comment (which was 7 months ago)

  • @MaxcalderB 6 people!!!! And they got sat on by a troll afterwards, then pooped on.

  • @MaxcalderB My penis just turned Rock hard. I love this Film!

  • 5 idiots must have accidentally pressed dislike...

  • ganz gut!

  • Everytime I hear this theme, I feel as if I can do anything!

I loved this film. It's a great feel-good flick. Thanks, George!

  • @BrightStar5972 Thanks Ron. Lucas only gave the money.

  • @RebelAdmiral But didn't George write the story? I think he wrote a book sequel about Elora Danon when she is an older, spoiled, princess. Never got to read it, though.

  • @BrightStar5972 That´s exactly the feeling! :D

  • @krizzolito I remember watching the scene were Razel transforms back into her human form only to realize that she had aged. I was mesmerized! I pray that I look just as beautiful as her when I become old.

  • The best fantasy movie of my life.

  • Great movie and awesome score! i saw Willow when i was 6 back in 1988 in theaters and loved it, it definitely predated Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Avatar. This movie is like Princess Bride meets LOTR.

  • as a musical artist and former composer, my taste is truely a rarity. The chase scene music isnt on here.

  • Goat- baaaaa gooood work Madmartigan.

Madmartigan- What da hell happened to you???

  • Such memorable and magical music

  • ...I think I need to go find my old Willow VHS now. I watched it online a while back, but it isn't quite like seeing it in the original film format.

The theme starting at 2:06 is one of my all-time favourite "heroic" film themes. :D

  • mine to man

  • This made my night.

  • hahaha rogelioVela1985 peck peck is so hilarious!! ''oh no there's a peck here with an acorn pointed at me!!!!'' lmao

  • this movie is fun to watch.

peck peck peck peck peck, PECK!

    lol

  • I'm 3 months into my first semester of college, still listening to this song...

  • A lot of what made Willow really good was the cinematography. You could really see the colors and richness of the landscape. But in modern fantasy movies like LOTR, they dull out every scene. Everything looks pale and yellow.

  • @theonlyred4 Its because of those damn hobbits, whom i hate more than ever .. :P damn hobbits..

  • new movies are scared to be a bit dark like willow.

  • 4:00 on this shit rocks

  • indy jones, star wars, by far the best music the london symphony orcestra was willow

  • 2:06 - 2:58 makes me sweat like crazy. On a Friday or Saturday nightout when scum are intoxicated and out of control on booze someone should appear, beat them up with this music playing in the very air itself! Acid!

  • @HovisSteve

    love it.

  • willow is the sort of film i wathed growing up, that and return to Oz, labrinth, Legend, the land before time, the dragonslayer the never ending story etc. With exeption to the land before time all the rest used actors and animatronic puppets, you just dont get that now its just CGI CGI CGI. its a real shame

  • @merovingianking1 Agreed, we all know that it's the music that truly makes a film. We need more 'proper' films, less CGI, more animatronics...we need it like it was.

  • @wasp27 finally someone with the same view as me

  • @merovingianking1 Pleased to share yr opinion dude! :o) Why does EVERY film made nowadays HAVE to be made with merchandising in mind? Thats what spoils things for me-can you imagine classics like The Great Escape, or THEM! being made 'merchandise-able'??? It doesn't bear thinking about...

  • 1:24 owns

  • Wow, this is a great remastered compilation!

  • This is an EXCELLENT sound track and the movie was considered a flop at the time but it's a great film that had ground breaking special effects at that time. Lot's of comedy and a great family film. George Lucas wrote more books on this same story line but i'm sure that because this was a flop at the box office he decided not to do more movies, which is a pity.

  • one of the best films ever.

  • I really want to go into the acting industry :')....listening to this soundtrack and watching the movie makes me think of what I could become :')

  • J'adore!!! C'est parfait, le composition est tres belle! Horner est mon composeur prefere! <3

  • well good work Mister Richard Gale

  • 1:25 ELWIN RAVE! :D

  • Oh top sa me rapelle quand j etais petit

  • una de las mejores peliculas de los 80s

  • Jadooooooooooooore c musiques.

  • Trop belle et manifique la musique de Willow

  • I've now watched this movie 3 times... Never gets old. But I wouldn't want to risk it!

  • Classic and beautiful!

  • @EthanEmerald

unsure of the name. its just the theme to the village party

  • l'un des meilleur film et l'une des meilleur musique rien d'autre a dire

  • willow will always be the best fantasy film

  • Beautiful music to a great fantasy movie. Loved this movie as a kid.

  • love this soundtrack

  • I have seen the film and I love it in the end when the evil princess turns good and the bird SHITS on the guy. ha ha

  • One of the best films ever! I love the music too. I'm so sad, i've cruised around in my car to this, it was like i was on a mini adventure

  • If you like the Willow theme, the opening was based off Robert Schumann's 3rd Symphony "Rheinische".

    watch?v=wGz2lVUGimA

  • good job!

  • Very nice mix! I hope this doesn't get taken down.

  • Fantasy should have familiar themes, like small heroes and such. What don't you like about the new Narnia films? I read the books around 4th-6th grades and the LWW movie came out 8th grade. I loved it. The BBC version was good too.

  • i found the narnia films too 'technically' driven. the story itself is very good (though i prefer willow in terms of overall screenplay). it works so well because it was written specifically for the cinema. Narnia on the other hand requires a more subtle touch (which i found the bbc series did so well). simply i think willow suits blockbuster big screen, where narnia is more suited to a long winded tv series where more depth can be injected into the journey the kids make.

  • Good point, you're probably right. I don't like it when they take out parts of the book to make the adventure "move length."

  • @auhin Did you ever see the television series' made by the BBC in the late 80's early 90's. They did most of the books of the Narnia series, but never repeat them - they were superb!

  • @Apophisguard

Not while they aired, but I have watched parts on YT. They are pretty sweet.

  • I love the new Narnia movies. And I love Willow. The only reason I like Narnia slightly better is because of the literary/spiritual bedrock on which the series is founded. Willow is a stellar film, dude. I'm not trying to disparage it. Willow sets up a believable fantasy world without the convenience of a prewritten book to follow. Still, there are noticeable themes of LOTR in Willow, but this is a good thing.

  • richg you did a good job, over half of this mix has the tune I love the most, beginning to 1:24 then starts back up at 3:30 to the end. This is powerful music, a great movie needs great music. Willow, an excellent recipe.

  • WILLOW = forever classic!!! :)))))

  • I just love the movie :) I remember when I was 7 and suffered from pneumonia. I was sitting at home and watching 'Willow' time after time, every day for two weeks :) A couple of years later my father gave me the original video for my Birthday. Still got it :) Willow is one of a kind in comparison to the movies that are filmed nowadays. x

  • I gotta admit, it was a childhood fave of mine to. Love the Goonies aswell! :D

  • 1:25 LOL :D

  • @hasiak666 Sounds like they hired Bob Dylan to do that part haha

  • Both have Biblical themes. The beginning echoes the story of Moses and baby Jesus, both children persecuted by a wicked ruler.

  • Narnia is the best, but WIllow is awesome.

  • please tell me you are joking! and i bet you mean the new narnia too. if you were comparing willow to the original British TV series I may understand your point. but please dont tell me you prefer that tripe that came out in the cinemas in recent years..

  • @richg101 I know the new Narnia was a massacre! They inocorporated creatures used in lord of the rings and never in Narnian books. It was awful everything was.

  • @FernandoTorrera

I thought it had great acting and captured the spirit of the books well, however.

  • @richg101 Agreed! I remember watching the BBC series when it was first shown on tv, Sunday afternoons at 5/6pm I think! I'd read the books and, even though I knew what was coming next, I still couldn't wait for the next episode. Same with BBC version of The Borrowers-miles better than the god-awful big screen release some years ago (Ian Holm beats John Goodman hands down!). I've seen the Hollywood Narnia films...and i'd rather spend eternity as a statue than be forced to watch that tripe again.

  • @auhin gotta disagree. willow to me is more creative and "real", which is important

  • @reptilianism420 I'm not knocking it, I love it all.

  • I absolutely love this movie. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen and has the best soundtrack as well.

  • i usualy am hard to get impresed by a soundtrack, i like ani kind of music, but only 1-3 tracks from a compositor realy impres me, now with james horner, it gets a bit diferent, i like almoast all his creation XD with his last movie, avatar, he did it damn good, i like alot all the soundtracks, unusual for me.

you dont need words, a realy good artist can speak with music to anione, like a universal language.

  • MASTERPIECE !

    (L)

  • Willow is my favourite fantasy film of all time. Funnier than LOTR, more original than Narnia. It's awesome :)

  • I wish horner had done as good job on Avatar as he did on this. I think the only lacking factor of Avatar was the soundtrack - which to me sounded a bit toned down in terms of emotion.

  • oh, but my friend, he did better on avatar, i think he did his best. ;) it is perfect in tune with the image, and fits perfectly the storry/action/'image'

  • @richg101 well Avatar sucked period, so nothing horner could have done to make it better unfortunately. Horner is the all time best, but Avatar sucked. It only got such huge ratings becuase it was 3d, a nd looked cool.. It was fresh, but aside from that, the entire storyline was shit, anyone with 1/2 a brain will admit that. On top of that, it was just a shit movie.
