  • Absolute beauty.

  • God is in this choir singing as well... or rather leading..

    AMEN^.^ God Loves You!

  • @IloveJB0602vl

    AMEN !!!

*that* ought to be the TOP comment !!!

    This was mighty Mighty !

  • @IloveJB0602vl God loves you too brother.

may he be with you like he is with me.

  • I adore the arrangement of this carol, not many choirs use this style for this anymore. I find that most disappointing. Bravo.

  • Sending you the wonders of His love! Merry Christmas to all ye faithful!!

  • I'm buddhist from thailand but I want to say "Merry Christmas!" to everyone in the world.

I graduated from christian school. So I think I know what is the real meaning of Christmas , that over 2000 years ago who was born for all mankind.

I don't want to see many people have a celebrating and forget Jesus in Christmas.

    sorry for my english....(- -)

  • @acmotor may God bless you and your family

I love you brother or sister.

    Merry Christmas!

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! God bless you guys!

  • While the discussion seems to have digressed towards Christmas rather than the quality of the music, let me say that this choir and organ have always delighted me. I cannot compare this group with more recent ones, but it is indeed glorious.

  • @hampshireman65 It really should be about unconditional love, helping the lonely, the sad, the helpless and needy. Gods gift - Christ's love, no matter what...no rules, no doctrine, just love, " Occupy Christmas" and this would be a better world...

all the best of the Season... you have the right feeling at least.... cheers.

  • What a beautiful descant!

This is the best arrangement of the carol.... if you have ever heard it scored for full orchestra even better....often wish Kings College would release a Christmas album ...fully scored with Organ.... Merry Christmas from Canada

  • @timothyj1966 I soooo agree. There is NO better than the Willcocks setting and that radiant descant.

  • this is a good version. i like the vienna boys choir version better, but that's just a preference. merry christmas and happy hanukkah!

  • Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for posting this video.

  • Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

  • My mate at work plays Christmas carols even in summer months you can definitely get to much of it

  • @mrmagicroundcircle too much? If only Christmas made people better each day of the year!

  • @timothyj1966 Doesn't necessarily make them better fot one day of the year in my opinion.

  • This is my favourite carol cd... I use it to test audio syatems...

  • This reminds me of singing in the school choir as a boy, it still sends a shiver down my spine as it did then, a lovely song to sing, it was almost frightening as a child

  • This is so beautifully done! Thanks be to God for His gifts to us to enjoy. Merry Christmas everybody!

  • on of my fav. reasons for going to church on sundays is to sing this song..(durring christmas season.)

  • Note the title, Come all Ye FAITHFUL, FAITHFUL, get it?

  • @ROBSTA69able

Bigotry wasn't needed, asshole. I was having a nice time listening to this beautiful music until your verbal diarrhea ruined it. Happy holidays.

  • @2012trojanhorse *merry christmas.

  • tune of the year xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Perfectionism what achieves the perfection. For five minutes I was initiated in Celtic rituals combined with Byzantine and Latin incantations. And all in the form of diptychs Christmas carols told through music. All is uplifting!

  • Not a fan of the volume hike at the 2 minute mark, I feel it should go baritone there insteado f just getting louder. But still, lovely.

  • @WhatR2D2Saw That's a traditional descant (2:00) that I sang as a boy chorister. They did it perfectly!

  • @Beeglemon I'm sure they did, I'm just not a fan.

  • Hearing descants, even ones as beautiful as the one here, make me glad I'm an alto! Such a wonderful carol and sung by quite possibly the best choir in the country

  • aww this is so lovely...

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!

  • Why are there even people unlike this video? That's just absurd.

  • 3 people aren't faithful!

  • This song reminds me of christmas's true meaning

  • Christmas is coming again! Let's SING and celebrate!!!

  • i only listened this to see what it was as it was said in fast and loose

  • imagine this blaring over the internal speakers in an A10 Warthog with the front Gatling giving it large, clusters flying down, FANTASTIC

  • 3 of our brethren hath fallen into Lucifers grasp, come forth, all ye faithful, for we must save them.

  • Beautiful. This is Britain at its best.

  • beautful....Cant wait until christmas!

  • oh my god i didn't know the harmonies could do that in the fourth verse *die*

  • This makes me feel so christmassy :)

  • this song is one of my favorites reply with your favorite songs

  • Why has no one got creative about the 2 dislikes?

  • @Zmiratch Well, let us start. They just have no heart or real feeling?

  • @Zmiratch 2 people didn't come with the rest of the faithful?

  • BEST. ARRANGEMENT. EVER!! My choir sang this for the procession to the crib with the statue of baby Jesus. It was so touching, there wasn't a dry eye in church!

  • I just love the way the sound of the choir and organ reverberates in that chapel sanctuary especially toward the end of the song during the climax crescendo when the boy soprano voices come through. Just sounds awesome!

  • i cant wayt tell christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love the full organ and choir!

  • All tho I am looking forward to xmas I am not too because it will be my first ever christmas without my dog who I grew up with and I know I am going to hear this song many times and it makes me want to cry so much<3x:3 But I will still listen to this and personally dedicate it just to him<3x

  • All tho I am looking forward to xmas I am not too because it will be my first ever christmas without my dog who I grew up with and I know I am going to hear this song many times and it makes me want to cry so much<3x:3

  • love it

  • 2 stupids.

  • Johnny your going to find out REAL fast why you don't post shit like that. If you live on grass i feel horrible for you.

  • two people are humbugs!

  • Where has the year went? It will be Christmas before you know it.

  • Being a former organist,I can say this was my favorite. The choir, strings, and a Moller organ...yep. The procession was my favorite. I do miss playing. I would "open it up" for Midnight Mass. Keep the pipe organs going!

  • To me, Christmas isn't about celebrating anything but family and friends. Regardless of religion, I feel it should be this way with everyone. The spirit of giving doesn't need a deity as an excuse. I love Christmas, and although Agnostic, I will celebrate it every December 25th for the rest of my life.

  • @Berrybunny1 As an agnostic myself, I couldn't have put it better myself.

  • Comment removed

  • @Berrybunny1 exactly.

  • @Berrybunny1

As an agnostic, you have no objective foundation for making such a statement. Why should it be good to give or spend time with friends and family, if that's a subjective truth? People treat their friends and family like crap 364 days a year, but come the 24th you're suddenly "good" to each other? That is is the most stupidest thing you could say. Once again, if you can tell me under what authority it's "good" to treat each other is such a manner, then I'll respect it.

  • @alifeofreason Not really.

  • @RossWZA A person who subscribes to a belief system is just as capable -- and just as ignorant -- as a person who exercises his freedom not to believe.

  • @alifeofreason wanker

  • :"((

  • We're not gonna take it!!

  • I used to sing this in school in the mid 80s, and since leaving I never go to church or anything...but looking back I must admit I did feel so good singing these songs about god and stuff, I think it really is a good thing.

England isnt what it once was it was such a lovely country, now its even agaisnt the law to read storys about father christmas due to other religeons... :(

The real england died in the late 90's

  • @Khaos969 Father Christmas has nothing to do with any religion.

  • @TrolleyPower No but you like him to empty his sack for you don't ya

  • @TrolleyPower actually he does. there's a reason it's called CHRISTmas

  • the Grinch has found the page :))

  • As usual, A superb presentation from Kings. Would have been enhanced by being sung in Latin. But even, sung in in English just brings tears to the eyes. May they sing for many more years to come. ₤ance.

  • Years ago, Christmas evolved into a painful and bitter time of year for me. I pretty much endure the season for the sake of children; if not for them I would find only heartache in December.

However, last year on the Sunday of Christmas, I turned on my car radio to hear King's College Choir performing this carol. For just a sweet moment, the bitterness was gone and I was young and eager for the Advent season.

The warmth lastest only as long as the song, but it was cherished.

  • @moproducer I hope a day comes when Christmas becomes a great joy for you.

  • Awesome hymn.

  • Favourite carol/hymn of all time

  • The running commentary was sublime

  • I listen to this every year, its just amazing...

  • wonderful

  • thank you - we need to remember this song, and this way of singing it...

  • Thanks for this and Merry Christmas - Beats listening to Cliff Richard and Shakin' Stevens on Christmas day!

  • My favourite Christmas hymn.

    Absolutely cracking tune !

    Merry Christmas everybody !

  • Happy Christmas! Merry New Year!

  • Merry Christmas!

  • What an ending! Fantastic-sounding organ and choir. Merry Christmas and thanks for posting :)

  • and the ground trembled!!!!!

  • Absolutely brill.

  • Lovely! My favourite Christmas carol of all time

  • Angelic

  • Perfecto ::)

  • My original and still favorite of all the Christmas songs.

  • Every Christmas Eve when we begin the vigil mass, this moves me to tears. I love Christmas - even at my bitter, cynical age of 46!

  • This song is just beautiful :')

  • Must say that I love a good choir. Do you have a link to Hark the Herald by any chance?

  • The organ is great. it's not overpowering the choir! Really nice.

  • it is the voice from angels! Merry Christmas!!!!

  • i dont believe there is anything better sounding? the rest of the tracks on the cd arent bad either to be fair!

  • perfect

  • Sing choirs of angels love xxxxxxxx

  • we're singing this in my choir <3

  • Merry Christmas Youtube:)

  • Thank you so very much and have a merry christmas.GOD BLESS

  • I love the Kings College Choir. They are so inspirational!

  • Oh how I remember singing the descant in the school choir. I'm usually the only one singing it in church to this day but its all I hear...

This is utter perfection & is a joy to hear :)

  • awesome song! just practised this for our Christmas show, never tire of it!

  • Why must we cry when we praise the Lord? We should be happy and overjoyed to be praising Christ, GREAT SONG!

  • @megaepicname I think people are meaning tears of joy and love lol.

  • @megaepicname Well I can't speak for anyone else, but I weep buckets when I worship God, because my pitiful human emotions are so overwhelmed by how wonderful, amazing, almighty, and truly, truly loving our God is!

  • Dear Cantabrigians,

This is a wonderful absoluetly marvellous rendition of my favourite christmas carol. It is utterly beautifull, one day I hope I may be able to see kings college choir perform in person.

All the best from an Oxonian counterpart.

  • Even my cat is crying ...

  • csheff1014, thank you very much for posting this video. christmas sngs sang beautifully always bring back beautiful childhood memories, especially for an adult so far away from home such as me. happy holidays!!

  • I've long considered "Adeste Fidelis" to be the finest and noblest of the traditional, "mainline" Christmas hymns. In fact, the ONLY Christmas hymn that I rank higher is the Harold Darke setting of "In the Bleak Midwinter," but qualitative comparison is difficult since the styles are so different. "Coventry Carol" seriously rivals but does not excel "Adeste Fidelis" in my view. To be diplomatic, I respect the opinions of those who best like "Do You Hear What I Hear?" but keep it away from me!

  • Wow, those extremely high notes that those boys are reaching are phenomenal! Sort of a climax at around 2:49. The pipe organ sounds wonderful as well!

  • My favorite part 155-all. Love it. So majestic. The way it should be! No silly "praise band"....Oh my,Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is this about god ??? that the hell ? :P get it :P LMFAO

  • Beautiful

  • Sorry 'Class'? 'The Room is great' Stop using these American terms.

  • Words cannot express how much I love this descant!!

  • LOVE that descant. The simple genius of Willcocks on this is just delightful, and the singing is truly not of this world.

  • Beautifulest!!!

  • You know what? Just all you nitpickers with your 'spelling' and 'Stickatoe' just chillax out and enjoy this wonderful rendition. Until you can do better, just shut your cakeholes. it's Christmas for Gods sake! Jesus!

  • i wish people would learn how to spell "willcocks"...

  • oh MAN, I love that last verse... attaboy, Willcox.

  • with beatitude .. after yours it is the child ,,,i give you in love,

  • it is a matter of love, with the creater, within , then the music .. if you hold this .. you yourself are in.

  • WoW, tho would be nicer with more harmony and on the 1st line of the chorus its meant to be in sticcato, then 2nd line a bit sticcato then 3rd line is meant to be a legato with a big crescendo

  • Everyone's a critic.

  • just double check ur comments there... if u look i sed "WoW" this word means that its really good.... i was just saying however...... - if they were to improve it, i think them things should be done!

  • Staccato, not sticcato. Everyone's free to have their own interpretation, so stop marking this comment as a lousy comment.

  • @sagax2005 do i sound bothered how its spelt??? im not a pompus git like u.... i dont do all the geeky thory stuff, i just get down to performing. however if u just check i actually sed WoW - this means that i think it was really really good. did u not know that thicko?.... get ur facts straight pal.... n yeah everyones alowd there own interpretation, n everyone (including me believe it or not) is alowd their own opinion.... so get a life and just grow feathers n shit in a tree u geek

  • @AndrewHaworthxx Shut up with your god damned abuse! This argument is pathetic, and calling someone who knows more than you a geek is pathetic.

  • @AndrewHaworthxx do you ACTUALLY have any idea what you're talking about, cause considering i've sang this song numerous times all round the world, both in english and latin and yet i have the music here infront of me as i type and it isn't supposed to be *staccato* which suprisingly for someone who's trying to pull off the fact they have any idea what they are talking about YOU can't even spell correctly. So don't be criticising one of the BEST choirs of all times, and yourself getting it wrong

  • well spoken Mishter! I believe King's College DOES know How David Wilcocks intended it!

  • @mishtermichealmoss Here here!

  • I've used this descant before in the states, but it just never seems to sound the same :-)

  • Pure Christmas

  • when ever i hear this song i get chills.

    remember jesus

  • I just cried, not even joking. I love Jesus!

  • @CoolMec21 :S???:S:S:S

  • This is the most beautiful recording ever!! and the organ is amazing.

  • Isn't it just, simply magnificent !

  • organ sounds magnificent.

  • nice and warm and powerful and yet leaves you wanting.

  • @uwchlaw Magnificent's not the word mate, it's indescribable! :-)

  • Heard the organist, Briggs perform last week. The man is a genius.

  • Wonderful simply wonderful! Much thanks for this one

  • thnx

  • descant brilliant, as only he could arrange...total christmas

  • the descant is amazing

  • by far one of my favorite christmas songs along with o come o come emmanuel

  • There are no words to describe this. I got tears in my eyes.

  • I was crying when I heard the opening. I go no words to say how I feel but just glory & thanks to Jesus & God. God Bless you.

  • I still do every time I listen

  • @mordio123 I associate tears with this song too. As a kid, every time I forgot the Latin lyrics, a nun would smack me up side of my head :) I know all the Latin verses now, by golly, and am proud of it. (Oops, sin of "pride". here comes Sister...)

  • @mordio123 So have I!

  • @mordio123 Especially the last verse, now that is powerful !
