  • So a bunch of guys in England stole a bunch of boat paddles and cannonballs from pirate ships to create a game named after an insect?!? Cool! lol, jk. Honestly, I've always found cricket to be in interesting sport. Baseball apparently had origins from cricket, though there's not much resemblance to it nowadays. Cricket looks so much harder than baseball, especially from the batting aspect of it. Pitching looks harder to do as well. Fielding the ball barehanded looks like it would hurt too.

  • @uofm97 Mate, we dont call it pitching, its bowling :). Also, because I'm from Australia and have played cricket most of my life, when I played softball for mt High School team, I found it difficult

  • @randomday1234 It's called bowling? What do ya call the game with the pins, then? lol, jk. In all seriousness, I didn't know the act of putting the ball in play was called "bowling". Thank you for telling me while being cool about it. I'm from the U.S., where the sport isn't quite as common as in the rest of the world.

  • @uofm97 were r u from in the US

  • @randomday1234 Michigan.

  • @lightningleaf23 This was made in 2006, before all of those and just before Australia bead England 5-0... But now yes, no better than 5th or 6th in the world..

  • @switchhitter07 That's really wierd. I play cricket for my club and i think baseball looks really hard to do!

  • great vid (:

  • When u say that side and this side don't u mean leg side and off side

  • i ordered a bat and its supposed to come today, but its pretty late and it still hasnt come. when will it come?

  • thank you for the video ...i dont know how to release ball in fast bowling ..aftr running i wil bcome slow n iam releasing ball slowly..can u give me any tips

  • bating thikai cha tara yo bhanda bob ko dami cha ....80 min ko video cha

  • How are the Aussie 's the master illtube? you got battered at home by England in test cricket lost the t20 final to England and India won the 50 over cricket world cup Aussies are now a run of the mill cricket team nothing more.

  • What happens if the batter knocks over his own wicket? (I live in Canada) Is it like hockey where you can score on yourself? If he knocks it over, does it mean he is out?

When does the pitcher or bowler or whomever have to throw the ball by? In baseball the pitcher must have a foot on the rubber part of the mound when the ball is released... Cricket confuses me which is why it interests me! I know baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis all very well, so if you can relate it to those that'd help!

  • @jessbaker15 If the batter knocks over his own wicket, then the batter is also out. This is one of the numerous ways in which batters can be out. As to the second question, there is a "crease", and the bowlers non-leading foot, this is just the way in which it happens, must either be on, or before a line on the crease.

  • check on 0:53 it has a amazing swing!!

  • swing

  • 0:53......... crazy, amazing, wicked, awesome, and professional

  • i want America to get a team so us aussies can show them we are actually good at sport hey have you Americans heard of Aussie Rules? good sport that is

  • @aussiefox i'm 14....so can i join it???

  • @indiajag1 there is youth cricket in Dallas look for a club called the colonials, they should know someone that coaches with the youth side.

  • @indiajag1 there is youth cricket in Dallas look for a club called the colonials, they should know someone that coaches with the youth side.

  • @indiajag1 i play cricket in dallas everyday, i don't know what part of dallas u live in,but i live in richardson, we play mostly in richland park, and risd academy on fridays, and russel creek cricket grounds on sunday, you are welcome to come play with us if u like.

  • i picked up an error in your front foot technique, when you play your front foot strokes instead of just stepping forward, you need to take a small step across with the backfooot first, then move the front foot forward, this is necessary because then you can go back or forward maintaining full control of your stokeplay.

this is also a good technique for newcomers because then they are always moving their feet, which means they can adapt to different situations.

  • @keza4win7

Dude, this is a video to show americans about the game and how to bat basics, while your information is informative and knowledgeable, the scope is first, lets get them picking up a bat and whacking the crap out of a ball ....the way most of us fell in love with the game in the first place. there's an old saying , people don't care how much you know , until they know how much you care. Passion for the game first , minute technical details later.

  • I play baseball and have been recently turned on to the sport by first reading the hitchikers guide to the galaxy and then watching part of the recent test between England and Bangladesh. Are there any good places in KAnsas to play i'm trying to get some friends to play a game with me

  • @belefastbrawler G'day , Where in Kansas are you? Private message me or search aussiefox on google for my email.

  • u dont now that it is batsmen not batter batter means a mixture

  • got to love cricket :D

  • Is cricket more of a "finesse" game than baseball ?

  • @jaegerhund I dunno about finesse.. they score a hell of a lot more points than in baseball and use what would be foul territory in baseball. The players don't look as athletic as baseball players either.

  • @jaegerhund yes its not just physical strength but there s a lot of trickery involved .. search this on youtube ." reverse swing " and " shane warne "

  • @doctorkickass to bowl proper reverse swing, you need to have speed close to 150 kph. To bowl at that speed, you need some good more than average physical strength, a lean physic and a gifted action. trickery comes after that.

  • @jaegerhund "fineness" in what way? cricket has everything in it. one needs to be as top an athlete as one can be to be a fast bowler in cricket. The batting could not get more technical in any other game than cricket. Then the catching can be more demanding than baseball catching because there's no gloves for fielders and also for positions such silly point. There's also mind game involved with 4 innings(2 each) in a 5 day match. Cricket is thus not just a game but like a battle b/w 2 sides.

  • Americans decided to make the game much harder by using skinnier sticks. Thats why all the best players fail far more than half the time. Its way harder to score runs in baseball.

  • more respect for you......

    uncle..........

  • wats cricket like in the states? does anyone know wat the standard is like?

  • About the same as baseball in cricketing nations...played mostly at the club/recreational level in public parks largely by ex-pats.

  • awesom

    5.5

  • this is one of the best batting videos ever! im a young cricketer and this video helped me alot! 5/5

  • Very good video. Thanks.

  • good vid !

    Love circket..best !!!

  • Dude awesome video

  • hey thanks for the tips it really helped me with my batting skills. Thanks

  • guys, I play in a cricket league in midwest, the guy teaching also plays in that league, He is from the caribbean. No, He is not Steve Messiah

  • You Have to Watch This!

Search - 'cricket batting in nets bowling machine'

    Nice Vid BTW

  • More people that play cricket is great for the game, i would like a see a serious cricket team from the USA and Canada one day.

Then it would be a real world cup

  • iam pretty sure there is an american cricket team there is in a game called cricket 07

  • yeah it is their captain is steve massiah

  • Yeah but it isnt to mainstream though

  • @illlTubeYou yes and also considering it was USA vs Canada that was the first inter-country cricket match.

  • @illlTubeYou

I doubt Seattle (near where I currently live) would be a suitable venue due to the frequent precipitation. You can't play cricket in the rain.

  • @Kanjilearner Yet the game of cricket started in England. =)

  • @illlTubeYou Why not you yanks vs the masters?, us Aussies!.

  • @Aheadstix85 Im not american, im from nz. Im a fan of cricket and fyi masters dont lose the ashes :)

  • @illlTubeYou usa and canada have to be working hard to compete with india and england and sri lanka

  • @illlTubeYou usa and canada have to be working hard to compete with india and england and sri lanka and australia

  • @illlTubeYou Canada does have a team :p

  • I prefer baseball because I love it and think it's more challenging. But I tried cricket and it is awesome.

We should have a US league.

  • hey with all the coaching in the world today at the end of the day it comes down a personal talent, ive very good days and very bad days from scoring 282 not out in a one day game to scoring a golden duck

  • iv just improved my batting skills even though i had to use a different website to get the grip and i practiced these moves and they are working very well

  • In my opinion, he doesn't cover a crucial point...

    - The Bat Grip

The use of the left arm (in the case of right hand batsmen) for power and leverage and the use of the right arm more for direction, most of the time...In my experience, a stronger grip with the top hand sends the ball further and harder. Mark Waugh's seemingly effortless flicks are a case in point.

He doesn't talk about getting in line with the ball, getting to the pitch of the ball, weight transfer...Keeping it simple, I guess.

  • this vid has really helped me Cheers

  • I'll be honest that looks really hard to do. I play baseball and though many think its similar to cricket, trust me as a player it sure sure doesnt look like it. These guys are extremely, extremely talented at what they do.

  • @switchhitter07 its nice to see an american apprieciate a very hard game to apprieciate

  • @veltson12345 well a really good game

  • @veltson12345

I figure that's because Americans perceive it as being more difficult than it is. Probably because the lack of exposure to it.

  • @jdmitchell2 yeah but cricket is a fantastic game to be playing

it is a little harder than baseball because if u do 1, and i mean only 1! thing wrong well... lets say your gonna hear alot of HOWZATS! In ur career.

  • @veltson12345

that's what I figured. Plus, people are too lazy to do the research to be able to watch & enjoy it.

  • @switchhitter07 Btw, I think that Baseball is more 'collective' than Cricket (in the Batting aspect) because in Cricket one batsman can do the WHOLE job for his team. 8O

In Baseball, several batters must work for the team's success.

  • why is this crcket america??? 0.o??? i thought they dont pla cricket

  • amaricans have played cricket since before the 1st world war, its just that it's not a mainstream sport in the states.

  • Better yet the first ever international cricket match was played between Canada and The US, funny isn't???lol

  • Actually Americans have played cricket sine the colonial days. There is written reference to the troops (including General Washington) playing the game.

  • @jbIII612 correction. Americans HAD PLAYED the game of cricket some hundreds years ago during colonial period but they did not carry on playing the game between then and now. It's only recently that the immigrants from Caribbean and Indian subcontinent started playing the game again in the States.

  • to try and encourage more people to give it a try and take up the sport, the same way they promote baseball and american football in the uk

  • piece of cake, just give me a bat

  • have u played cricket before?

    its harder than it looks.

if you dont use correct technique you will get out very often

  • A true sportsmen will respect all other disciplines, whether they like playng that particular sport or not. Each to their own!

  • nice video thanks

  • the only way england will be the best test team in the world is if they poache some more players off other countrys lol
