What are you on about? It was completely legal. A penalty is basically just a direct free kick in a special spot and with rules governing how far away your own players are as well as the opposition. Few teams do this as most penalty takers have the confidence and ability to score without messing about.

I think you will find that if the ball hits the post and comes back the penalty taker himself cannot score from it unless somebody else touches it.
