If white responds knight c3 to block the check by black's bishop, black's next move after checking the king is moving the knight on d3 to f4, capturing white's bishop and equalizing material. The key thing here is that white can't castle, so the trap still works.
why did white took the bishop first instead of capturing the black knight with the white bishop. Then black continues with the capturing of the white bishop with the black knight, which is captured by the withe knight, which is then captured by the queen. Now white can easily capture the black bishop on b4 ? Did i mistaken something cO ?
at 2:45 if the white knight decides to take the black knight on e5 wouldn't it end up with the black's losing two knights and a bishop and the whites only losing a knight and a bishop
@sighisoaraa F1? If you mean the white bishop on F4 i have this to say: On the 4e move for white you move the queen from d1 to d4 so you never put the bishop there
@lolking92 I sad that after queen goes to d4, black plays d7-d6, and the knight g4 will be defended by the bishop on c8 ( or f1 if you flip the board )
love the videos. can you make one for caro-kahn defense? it would really help. thanks! Ps. if it could be 1-2 vids and relaly in depth, much appreciate it.
you got it xavier. In the next week I should have up about 6 videos. Should have about 5 more traps, along with a pretty sweet middle game video. After those are up the next one I make will be a pretty in depth 2 video series on the Caro-Kahn for you.
@xavier2nikos why in god's name do you want to learn caro-kahn? it's such a dubious opening and there are many others that are worth playing. Scandinavian for example.
I am surprised at the ignorance of this post. I can simply say, "Anyone who doesn't like the Scandinavian can play 2. d4 and turn into the Blackmar-Diemar gambit". In fact, why would you want to learn any opening other then the Sicilian since it has some of the highest win percentages for white (using that kind of logic). The caro-kann isn't really an easy opening to play, but people who are experienced with it can use it very effectively. So please, show some respect.
@xXdaveXsuperstarXx This is supposed to be an informative video, from which amateurs learn to play chess. I am an experienced chess player and have an 2085 ELO and believe me, if you want to learn difficult openings or traps, you read books.
So that's why I was saying that playing Caro-Kann is very dangerous as an amateur, when you could play many other simpler games.
Isn't the trap rather dangerous? let's say instead of taking b4, they take the knight,and after trading down, they take the bishop on b4, black will be down in material. They'll have an awkward positioning, but black will only have a queen developed.
Great question. Black actually has an in between move that insures that he does not go down in material and his position is not as awkward.
While white is trading down black has the "in-between" move of Bxd2+. White is forced to deal with the bishop as he is in check and black can then continue to trade down and will be able to even out material. Hope this helps.
This move is not even a ?? it's a ????. That's how bad it is.

1. d4, Nf6;
2. c4, e5;
3. e4xe5, Ng4
4. Instead of white playing Bf4, white plays f4 with pawn. I think this is one sure way to stop this trap.
Please correct me if this is incorrect.

it's a good trap but no one typically plays Nd2 anymore since it does block the king in. They would instead play Nc3

@moderneros "SOME" people will...Typically, "SOME" will move it, "SOME" will not
typically, who told you that information? (About the "Noone" plays Nd2 anymore)

@abcde1234200 if white plays Kxe5 - Kxe5, Bxe5 - Bxd2+, Qxd2 - Qxe5 it seems a pretty even game to me

what if black push bishop to c5?
gil12345ish 8 months ago
@insanonaga u dumbshit the queen doesnt allow that
Insanonaga 8 months ago
Thats not checkmate. Pawn e2 can simply take the knight and then the game would resume.
Insanonaga 8 months ago
@Insanonaga
the pawn cannot take the knight because the white king will be in check from the black queen if it does.
Ezio17a 7 months ago
@Insanonaga The Black Queen on E7 has the White Pawn Pinned on E2..That is Check Mate!

Well, moving to Nc3 is not a good option cause it'll make a double pawns on the c-file.. It's not a good structure in chess

@oShockwave no because black can do bxd2+ ditching the bishop in between the moves
