  • To Sasarella718 - I feel exactly the same.. I first saw them on 17 Dec. 2011 at London O2 arena... I am the same age as Nicky. Where was I for the half of my life????? <3 MSP 4ever :) !!

  • One of the best Manic song

  • How did I JUST find out about this band? How did I even exist before this?

  • QUE BIEN SUENA ESTA BANDA

  • I love this song, I love this album, I love this band :D

  • "Its the facts of life sunshine" A typical patronising refrain used by older people to younger people trying to understand the world, which I'm guessing Richey may have been trying to do using his music.

  • This is my favourite song of this album

  • I love this song as much as I love my internal organs

  • If you can't say nothing nice then change the video and stop complaining. ( I would do that the traditional Nicky Wire way but I don't think youtube accepts that many swear words)

I don't understand how people are thinking it sounds like "It's a fucked up life sunshine" You can clearly hear "Facts of life". Or is this just me, maybe because I've been listening to the manics since the 1990, their stuff just comes natural to me.

Beautiful song. KEEP UP THE GOODWORK GUYS RICHIE WOULD BE PROUD!

  • It's the facts of life, sunshine!

  • @inphanta Sounds like ''Its A Fucked Up Life Sunshine'' to me

  • @SuperMegabar: The lyric book that comes with the album says "It's the facts of life, sunshine".

  • @inphanta Yeah i know, im just saying it sounds more like ''Its a Fucked Up Life Sunshine''

  • @inphanta And it's what James says too...

  • i much prefer the sound on this album then any of thier others, it's more gritty and much different i think. then again im not the biggest manics fan, i've heard quite alot of their work though and this has been my favourite.

  • If you buy the album from any music retailer, the lyrics are in the album case!!!

  • Okay, im reading how this song sounds like the foo fighters or the whatever other bands and that would make complete sense since the manics have been around as a band, well a group since the late 80ºs! lisenting to their first 3 albums you could clearly see this albums sounds influenced well by the original manics and when they were a 4 piece. That makes even more sense as the lyrics they are using is all Richey, a beutiful tribute to such a tormented soul staying true always works out well!

  • I love the manic and this is their only song I can completly relate to...but im not sure if that's a good thing lol.

  • A Foo Fighter'sesque kinda sound! good track but certainly not the best on the album, Peeled Apple's is far stronger in my opinion! Journal For Plague Lover's is a marvellous effort anyhow.

  • Basically it sound's like a track off Song's For The Deaf by Queen's Of The Stone Age the verse's clearly do anyhow. The same heavy guitar sound, and Foo Fighter's influence in there too.

  • this song was written before the foo fighters were even a band

  • @Libertinedreamful I know that, But the music that has been written for this particular track has been added too the lyric's only recently! okay early last year i believe. Meaning the music that is accompaning this track sound's like Foo Fighter's , i am not talking about lyric's.

  • @Libertinedreamful The lyrics MAY have been written as early as 1990. But James and Co didn't put music to it until 2009.

  • @jameyinegypt 'Foo Fighters influence'??? ROFLMFAO.

  • Nicky Wire mentioned this Richey title in an interview:

"Hollywood Quality Is The Original Asshole"

I wish they would've recorded that

N there was another one called "Diet Slaves"

  • It's the facts o' life MY SUNSHINE

  • I agree 100%...*gets ready to see comment go into the red*

  • Wherever Rich is, it doesn't matter. He is where wants to be thats all that matters.

  • @noizy4

    Bang on!

  • Love this track, love the demo version too.

  • Bollocks, it's one of the best.

  • And it's interesting in a way to see how many people obviously don't think that it's a nice rock tune and an overwhelmingly awesome album :(

  • I think it's the best on the album, I just love the classic MSP-ness

  • yeah. its good old gritty manics.

  • This is one of James' best works in a while, amazing composition.

  • this sounds more like their holy bible days.

  • i don't believe he's dead. i truly don't. i just don't believe he would have killed himself. i just think he acheived what he set out to do , to disappear completely. apparently he read books on the subject before he vanished and also withdrew £200 from his bank account everyday for 2 weeks prior to his vanishing!!! just my opinion though.

  • I totally agree with you, theres been another recent sighting in India by an old friend but he didn't get to catch up with him, the others said he was a newcomer backpacker called Rik

  • bastards. why cant they leave someone in peace?

  • Well in all likely hood Richey is dead...so he probably has no idea what the Manics sound like now...or maybe he's watching from a spirit realm, who the fuck knows.

  • he's defo dead man, no doubt about that man.

  • campfire - you've got proof of that yeah ??

  • Be a bit silly to think he was still here wunnit?

    Fuckin believers

  • why's it silly? if he wanted to vanish and start a new life abroad then he could have done it. and i believe he did. simple really.

  • THIS is a song.

  • I think I love this song

  • "One bread, one milk, one food, that's all

I'm confused, I only want one truth

I really don't mind being lied to"

These lyrics bear resemblance to "Picturesque", another MSP song, from "God save the manics"

  • very Holy Bible-ish. love it and the new album.

  • Brilliant. I think this is my favourite album by the Manics.

  • why are people so obsessed with who it sounds like?!! who cares?!!!!! fucking incredible song and fantastic album , from start to finish. fantastic music to go with richey's lyrics. a great tribute to the genius that is richey edwards.

  • Fair point, it is an outstanding album in it's own right. Richey must love this.

  • I've often wondered what Richey thinks of MSP nowadays, epicially this album though,

  • I'm still missing the early Manics, but still loving their songs and lyrics!

    Good band!

  • Spot on m8

  • ..This is as near to the early Manics we will ever get..

    And I love it!

  • Oops ! i spelt arctic wrong in my last comment! i put artic instead ,so i thought i would correct that.

  • Come on! artic monkey's?! it cleary sound's like foo fighter's if not queen's of the stone age . The guitar's sound way heavier than the monkey's. Great song 9/10

  • queens of the stone age are a big influence on arctic monkeys. and its just the intro and the verse reminds me of somthing off favorite worst nightmare musicaly.

  • Are they? i never knew that, okay guess i have to agree with you then! hey braddersthemod wanna be friend's dude?

  • Yeah, ok! why not!

  • hey, this sounds like early Manics. This album is dedicated for Richer, founder of this great band and maybe have been dead.

  • *Rechie*

  • Nothing like early manic's, sound's like foo fighter's more like. And i mean the guitar's and rhythm that go with it.

  • They used some lyrics from this on the song "Picturesque" which appears on the "God Save The Manics" EP.

  • I was looking over an old interview with Richey n some journalist (round '94ish)

"Vaguely; you could say that I had an eating problem. Because if I ate too much, and I was drinking, I got all puffed up and blotchy. And I'm too vain to be like that. I am a vain person. I couldn't handle looking like that, I couldn't look in the mirror. All is vanity."

    Quoting his own lyrics!

  • wow! do you have a link to it? that's really sad.. i love this song.

"i would pяefeя no choice; one bяead one milk one food; that's all."

  • Go on wikipedia n search 4st 7lb by Manic Street Preachers. One of the links on the page leads to that interview (one where he explains the names n refrences in 4st 7lb)

  • Sounds a bit like a song from Six by Mansun for a while at the start

  • Definitely with you there! at first it sounded like foo fighter's covering a joy division song if you know what i mean, but yeah the foo's. Like on pretension /repulsion sound's like a track off live through this by hole.

  • Yes it sound's like everlong the verse part, brilliant song though 9/10

  • Best song on the album by a mile, driving verse, great rythem underneath the guitar!

  • I agree!! From the first time I saw the lyrics I knew this would be a sick song.

  • it defnitely sounds like something, dunno if it's hard fi though!

  • Like the album booklet - see how James and Sean have used his words and moulded them into songs. Think Richy was acutelly aware of how they would use his lyrics and his bridge, chorus suggestions are near enough what they have done.

  • prolly may fav on the record

  • Immense.

  • Since when was this all leaked?

I'm still gettin the deluxe edition; though is n e 1 else pissed off that the Japanese version gets 2 extra songs? (even though 1 of them is a Felt cover...)

  • alien orders/invisible armies (the other extra song is an instrumental. so you arent missing out on any lyrics or stuff like that

  • im not sure about this song, the lyrics may be "its a fucked up life sunshine" does anyone else hear it like that???

  • Nah I reckon it's "it's the facts of life sunshine"

  • i agree with u, but i can understand it being 'its a fucked up life sunshine' wen u consider richeys depression and his feelings at the time wen he wrote this fantastic song. but i do agree with you though

  • it thnk it could be both lol

  • i think it's both too. sometimes it's "Facts of life" other times it's "Fucked up life"

  • @PeeledApples I always thot it was "it's a fact of life sunshine" I dunno.... I love this song xD =)

  • @PeeledApples

I think it says "It's the facts of life sunshine"

  • @PeeledApples

it says "it's the facts of life, sunshine"

  • @PeeledApples 'Its a Fact Of Life Sunshine' but you may be right. I often think JDB inerjects stuff.,

  • @PeeledApples it's a fact of life sunshine, think it's a great track.

  • @PeeledApples i think he is saying "its the facts of life sunshine"

either way probably one of the strongest lyrics on the record

  • @PeeledApples "it's the facts of life sunshine". Christ dude thanks for the uploads, but read the lyric sheet that came with the album!

  • Echoes of Charlie Big Potato, the little known Skunk Anansie track...not my favourite track on the album, but still good stuff!

  • Imagine the manic's playing a joy division song , but doing it in the style of say foo fighter's or queen's of the stone age. that's the result you get with this stunning track. 10/10

  • Love the guitars in the intro on this track!

  • One of my favourites off the new record, love the spite in the vocal delivery.

  • yeah some of the songs on this album are not my cup of tea at all. But on the whole i'm amazed at it, try listening to some of the other songs =)

  • @macpac22

makes no F####### difference: "facts of" or "fcuked up". Every1 knows the fact is - this world is f##### up. :D
