  • why were nissans' available at datsun deales?

  • @somewhatlongdong because datsun is nissan and nissan is datsun? a lot of, if not all, 84 nissan 200sx's came with "nissan by datsun" stickers or something along those lines.

  • @silvertondevil Oh yeah, come to think of it I remember that.

  • Where can I find one of those?

  • I loved my 85 S12 5 speed. underpowered yes, but still fun in the turns. My next car was 90 RPS13 which i still have today. I wish I still had the S12, She talked to me..."Fuel level is low..."

  • @shironissan Buy a Z31....

  • @shironissan In fact, a '88 Shiro Special Z31 would be really fitting for you considering your screen name :P

  • @mrZdude Actually its where I took my screen name from. I do love the Z31.

  • "THE ALL NEW NISSAN 200SX TURBO. FOR ALL YOU GUYS WHO CAN'T AFFORD A 300ZX. AT YOUR DATSUN DEALER."

  • stop to say that's a 200sx it's a silvia s12 and nothing else

  • as close as america would lick a taste of JDM style in the 80s.

    "gimme a turbo & i alive,...cum.

  • 84 was the first Year for the redesigned 200SX..Which Lasted until 1986...1987 they got a Redesign again!

  • 200sx... best car I ever had...so much fun to drive in my teen years..

  • @ronofontario

    Lol same here!

Missed it so much I searched around town and found another one ^.^

  • @markVIIchick If you bought the SX enjoy it again and if you didn't buy it enjoy it from a distance... cheers

  • @ronofontario i have one EXACTLY like this one

  • @allenwood100 SIGH !!! good times

  • Is it called the Gazelle in japan? b/c tht look like the Gazelle too

  • I owned a 1984 2oosx turbo. It had about 5 pounds of turbo boost and had no intercooler. It had great low end torque and could snap you back in your seat if you floored it. It had almost as much go-power as a 1984 Toyota Supra, which had a bigger 6-cylinder engine. The car later had horrible Air Flow meter problems and problems with the O-rings where the turbo outlet pipe was attached to the turbocharger itself. It had quicker speed than the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS had for a while.

  • i wish my 88 200sx was in black.. and that i was a hasslehoff clone

  • give me a turbo and i cum alive!!!

  • rofl give me a turbo and im commme alive.. Creepy XD

  • cheese!

  • COme get your NISSAN....at your DATSUN Dealer..lol 1984 was a confusing year for NIssan/

  • Not more confusing as get your Chevrolet at your GM dealer.. same shit diffrent name :P

  • I have a 87' 200sx with CA18ET engine ... is not stock anymore .. now it has about 230 hp and i love this car .. :D

  • dont mess with the hoff!

  • @daisy2799 Too bad that's not David Hasselhoff. Just a look alike. lol

  • @daisy2799

    LOLPE!

  • Gotta love the 200SX Turbo. I have a '92 Sentra SE-R Turbo. Not a factory turbo car...no, but my car is pretty much what it would look like if it were. Very stock looking.

  • No he's not talkin to you.

  • TURRRRRBO

    Come alive TURBO

    Come and driveTURBO

    Love their turbo's lol

  • i had an '86 turbo 5 speed, cool car

  • "give me a turbo and I CUM alive" I'm sure that's what he was thinking, listen to the way he says it. lol it doesn't sound sexual at all

  • Damn I had no idea Nissan spit out a 200SX "Turrrrbo" from the factory in the 80s lol

  • they were elatively quick too, my buddy had one and a had an 84 sunbird convertible turbo, and the sunbird would leave the nissan in the dust, im talking bad, i kept the car and restored it, dont drive it much though

  • MAAAAJOR MOTION, from NISSAN!

Too bad they aren't AWESOME ;) I want a S12 some day, but it can't replace my Z31.

  • Looked like the hoff :D

  • my dad had this car..he ended up giving it 2 my cousin and he was rebuilding it but his dog came and chewd on the wires and stuff before he could put the engine in sux

  • Cool as it was, this car took a back seat to the Nissan 300zx Turbo introduced in '84.

The 300zx had a 3.0 V6 Turbo generating 190-horsepower, and was about the quickest affordable car on the road in 1984.

This 200sx turbo was a 4-cylinder. At least Nissan had two interesting sports cars in the mid-80's, which is more than they can say now...

  • the in japan the 200SX (Silvia) turbo RS-X was making 205hp at the crank :)

  • yeah it was a shame the s12 wasn't as popular from a performance standpoint, but even today it seems to have potential as a competitive enthusiast car (with a little love of course)

  • I can't think of this being a compelling ad, even in 1984. Marketing has progressed in a big way since then.

  • Hmm, a David Hasselhoff clone appears on this ad. Awesome

  • hmm... dunno about a clone his accent sounded like american and note david was only about 32 when this was aired and he looks more 40-ish

  • LOL would you prefer "it looks like Hasselhoff's twin brother"? Come on man that guy is a spitting image, the wavy hair, the look on his face, all he needs to do is start talking to his watch and the illusion is complete.

  • Wicked add..cheers dadsoldtapes

  • It was and still is a cool car... just lemonade was a popular drink and it still is..

  • Why does this commercial remind me of an episode of NightRider?

  • interesting how turbos existed at that time or atleast on a 200sx .. im pretty sure they didnt offer a turbocharger engine to u.s market like the 240 and recieving a ka24 instead of the org. sr20

  • yes they did offer a turbo version in the U.S :)

  • no they didnt dude lol, I wish but the 240sx in the us only offered ka24 (2.0L 4cyl n/a) but have the option to get a swap (jdm) the japanese version 240sx motor sr20 (2.4 4cyl turbo) . But not from nissan dealerships lol

  • oooh youre talking about the 240, i thought you were talkin about the 200sx my bad.

would have been a better idea if nissan had made the KA24 turbo from the start.

  • so wait, 200sx did? i doubt it, i just see this 200 as the replacement for the s13 240 but same when it comes to engine

  • the 200SX came with these engine

    VG30E

    CA20E

    CA18ET (turbo

    CA18DET (turbo)

    FJ20ET (turbo)

    FJ20E

  • oo ii see, many options to choose from when it comes to nissan engines and swaps lol

  • jeff wins is a fag ass piece of shit

  • and so is your car sweety :)

  • KA24 is a truck motor lol

  • SR20 also came in a truck. that "truck" motor is so much better overall then a SR20.

  • You're saying the KA24ET is better than the SR20DET? Put down the pot sir, just put it down...and walk away.

  • That's an awsome looking sporty 80's car. And turbo! Apparently you have to have a perm to drive one though. Just look at that guys hair! LOL

  • lol Give me a turbo... and I come alive.

  • i dunno how he could have "come alive" given the 55-mph speed limit at the time

  • The how is that nobody drove the speed limit back then either.

  • true but people did drive slower back then than they do now if you take a look at my mass pike video from '86 you can see the speedometer reading 57 mph

  • @dadsoldtapes yeah cause there were also alot more drag tracks around then now
