@thegiraffeslayer Every time you take a mulligan, the number of cards you get at the beginning of the game is reduced by 1. For example, if you take 2 mulligans, then you'll have just 5 cards in your hand to start the game; if you mulligan just once, then you'll get 6.
Thanks for making such a beginner-level series guys! I stopped playing Yu-Gi-Oh like 6 years ago, because it was too childish and simple. I think that if i pick up another TCG anytime soon, it's gonna be Magic because it's so much more in-depth and complicated, making you feel like you're actually thinking while you're playing.

I play both games, and the only reason I like Yugioh better is because the standard tournament format in Magic has such a slim card pool. What the fuck is the point of having a 10,000+ card pool if you can only use cards from the last 2 sets in Standard? (yes, I know there's other formats but the only card shop in town runs standard)
Don't get me wrong, Magic is still fun and a bit more strategic.

Have you tried asking your shop to run other formats? If enough people were interested, they'd be dumb not to. Ours isn't a giant place or anything, yet they have sanctioned Legacy events every week.
@WrenAkula I know, it's just that standard is the most popular. The shop that I go to does run other formats, but tournaments are once every 2 weeks, and the shop alternates formats, so it may be a while until I get the format I like playing the most. I don't particularly like Legacy or Vintage though, my personal favorite is extended.
@WrenAkula I've spent a total of 5 dollars on the entire game (most of that was spent on a very good rare), and I've only lost twice with my current deck. The second guy that beat me, I beat him 4 times after that.
Well aren't I a lucky bug.. I'm just starting to play, and today I went out and bought 5 intro packs and made my deck. I managed to get a red symbol thingy on the card, two silver ones, and one gold. XD I'm so lucky
@SpOrEfReAk10 i think from what series its from. lets say the card reads "m10". this means that the card is from a 2010 card set. where as a card that reads "m12" is from a 2012 card set. if that makes any sense..haha

Ok so i am looking at alot of my creature cards for example my Highland Berserker... it doesnt have that M10 sign in the middle right the resembles its rarity... it just has a black diamond looking thingy... and i went to target and got like 2 whole decks and only got 4 spells out of it... fail xD

keywords suck V__V ..there is almost always alot of empty space left, i can understand if the text box was smaller due to say a larger picture, but why not say what the effect dose if you have the room. Is it gating mechanic to discourage beginners? @PokeTwilight You shuffle the cards back into your deck and draw the same number of cards minus one for each time you mulligan. But if you are playing a friendly game you can let your opponent draw the same number of cards.

@DjRadioIbles Standard has between about 800 and 1,500 cards at any given time. Or 1,300 to 1,500 when the latest block has been fully released.
I don't personally consider that to be slim.

In casual "kitchen table" games, you can just use whatever you want.

Lol i had a card once, when i was little, the atk and hitpoints were 7/7... never played magic, and my mom threw them to the garbage... now, im interested in the game and i feel so fking bad :P

Ok so i am looking at alot of my creature cards for example my Highland Berserker... it doesnt have that M10 sign in the middle right the resembles its rarity... it just has a black diamond looking thingy... and i went to target and got like 2 whole decks and only got 4 spells out of it... fail xD

keywords suck V__V ..there is almost always alot of empty space left, i can understand if the text box was smaller due to say a larger picture, but why not say what the effect dose if you have the room. Is it gating mechanic to discourage beginners? Because that is often what it feels like.. they even do this in PC versions where you can literally have as much room as you want to explain a effect.. -/rant-

@PokeTwilight You shuffle the cards back into your deck and draw the same number of cards minus one for each time you mulligan. But if you are playing a friendly game you can let your opponent draw the same number of cards.

btw if you ever read the little sentences they have on the cards at the bottom they are so much more interesting than yu gi ohs and other card games. for example. this is the yu gi oh card labyrinth wall: These walls form a labyrinth with no exit for enemies.

"Ur Orc: When you cast Ur Orc it is hardly out of the game." It's OK, I don't think "ur" is so wise anyway. "Ur" probably is wrong...so wrong.
(btw, it IS a discard pile with the "flavor text" Graveyard to make it sound cool. I just thought I'd let you know in case "ur" asks.)

I am right, you are wrong to correct me, I accept your apology. As for not understanding my reply, let me make this simple. "Ur" is not a word and it is not slang. It is a way to cover up either the fact that you are not sure when to use "you're" or "your" or that you do not know how to spell these words. It is a common misteak (sic.).
