Do you have his other Manor tunes? I think you could post the other version on Guild.Good way to compare the recording and arrangement if its the same or not. 65 year old version wow! I remember seeing Dizzy on various TV shows in the 70's and 80's...those big puffed out cheeks plus he seemed cool too!
I sure do, but I can't seem to find 'em right now.
The other record is Manor 1042 of "I Can't Get Started"/"Good Bait". Incredibly, I have the same 2 tunes on one of the first twelve 78's I snagged in 1986 - on a COLUMBIA PROMO!!!!! How Columbia got their mits on the Manor coffers, I have no idea, but they're the same cuts.
The first version I heard of this as a kid was a babysitter's old 1970's pointer sisters LP; The sisters were apparently so impressed with Dizzy's composition & arrangement, they re-created it Note-for-note - WITH WORDS FOR EACH NOTE!
Paste into the youtube search window, "pointer sisters salt peanuts 1974"... even though I don't really care for their version now as an adult, it's still kinda impressive that they wrote words to all those notes...
Yeah, I had this when I was a teenager (found it in pawn shop!) - ended up broken in a move in 1996 and hadn't been able to find another copy, until last week. ;)
Dizzy only recorded 4 tunes for Manor (one session) and this has 2 of 'em. :)
Dig!

You bet, Ellen. :)
I thought about posting the Guild recording as well, but thought it might be kind of overkill.....

Just post it later, maybe in a few months.

Mark!!!
Awesome! I love that Trummy is on the date, although his solo doesn't amount to much. Cool writing.
Thanks.
