I do the same with the Gradius/Salamander/Parodius series I've gotten close to finishing Gradius 1 and 2 on a single credit, but I must practice more in order to accomplish my goal of a 1 credit clear. It took me a number of years to fall in love with the Mega Man original series, it just clicked for me one day and I found myself playing the little blue bombers games more. No one I knew owned a Mega Man game save for one friend of mine who had the original, and he'd never let me play the thing.
