You bet that was the best era! Thank God I bought a lot of those albums when they were easy to get. If not for Breezin', I wouldn't have heard half the artists I still listen to today. I think it's a shame that most stations like Chicago's 87.7 will only play this music on Sundays from 7 to 2, and now their regular format includes things like Beyoncee' and too much soulless new R & B. On the good side, they DO play Rumer a lot. She's awesome!
@Multi80schick When I use to drive trucks over the road in the mid 90's Phoenix, AZ, Cleveland, OH, and Los Angeles, CA had some of the best smooth jazz stations ever, especially Phoenix. But I have to agree with you, that's how I fell deep in love with smooth jazz listening to K-LITE Breeze 97.1. I wish I could get those days back. Look it up GRP Productions had a smooth jazz sampler it came out between 88 & 90 if you can find it get I think that you will love it and thank me for it.
@hsmarlon Naturally. GRP was a great force in the smooth jazz industry back then, but what could you expect, having been started by the Grusin brothers and Larry Rosen? I just got Jim Peterik's Life Force yesterday, and there is an offer inside for a free two-disc sampler of smooth jazz artists from Jazziz magazine. Hell, for the price of a stamp, why not? I'm hoping with a name like that behind it that it will have some good things on it.
Hey since you know smooth jazz so well in 1988 there was a smooth jazz jam that came out and it was played on smooth jazz stations continuously and then in late 88 it disappeared and I never heard it again. It was a very smooth and soulful instrumental guitar. It you have some Ideal of what I'm talking about contact me. I think it went to #1 on the smooth jazz charts in Aug./Sept of 88.
@hsmarlon I'm thinking either Peter White (Danny White's brother who plays with Basia and co-writes and arranges her material) or Acoustic Alchemy. Not sure exactly what you mean, but those would be my top 2 guesses. Other than that, sample tracks from Larry Carlton's Discovery album. He was getting tons of airplay from that album, a 1987 release, but it sounds like the right time frame.
This is definitely something you can picture driving home to late at night, especially in summer. I forgot all about Mr. Heintz after having owned two of his albums for years. Still love his 80s stuff and miss the station that introduced me to him: 95.7 Breezin' out of Racine Wisconsin--best smooth jazz and new wave station I ever heard for a mere 4 years--1987---1991.
Hey we had a station here in St. Louis, MO call K-Lite Breeze 97.1 FM and they play the same music and they stay here from 87 - 91, wow what a coincidence. Man I do miss that station so much. It seems to me that the best smooth jazz came out in the mid to late 80's.

@hsmarlon It may have been "Missing Your Touch" or "Late Night Duke Street" both by Acoustic Alchemy. They had an album out in that time frame.

What CD did you get this song from? Because when I bought this song from Tim's website it said it was from his album "Angel Coast".
