SUPERMAN LIVES was written around 1997; before Singer was even making X-MEN. It would NOT have replaced RETURNS b/c it had already been thrown out and been on the internet for years. I like Smith; he's a likeable guy...the kind of dude he'd love to shoot the shit and have a beer with. But his hypocrisy is too much. It's totally cool when he goes off on films (i.e. MAGNOLIA, SR) But any film critic give him negative reviews, he whines.
Bryan wanted to put Zod in the movie, but only wanted one actor to play him. The actor denied 3 times so they wrote the script to where time is the enemy. I personally loved that movie especially after seeing X3.
Kevin Smith dropped out of Directing Green Hornet because he KNEW that he wouldn't be able to do justice to it. He said that he is terrible at doing action scenes. And Kevin Smith wrote a draft for the Superman movie that WOULD'VE replaced this one, so he has every right to complain about it.
