  • im comitted to cakes! i like that line.

  • ive been watching these skits trying to grasp british humor...just cant seem to get it

  • how did i get here?...O_O

  • @okidokinannde god created adam and eve originally.. we are decsendants from them.. and your mother bore you. that is in a nutshell how you got here.

  • @Simon0 O_O ...do you think that i am so stupid?

  • @okidokinannde You used your pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface to rapidly depress and release a button on said device on a link from a hypertext file or document to another location or file leading to this hypertext document accessible via the World Wide Web containing a use of the technology of electronically capturing, processing, storing, transmitting and reconstructing a sequence of still images representing scenes in motion

  • @yinge101 weird....

  • the cake is a lie

    the cake is a lie

    the cake is a lie

the cake is a lie :'(

  • I wish I understood British humor. I really am trying, but I still don't understand any of it :(... godamit.

  • @NasgaX What is it that you're not understanding?

  • There is something bizarre about this sketch which I just love.

  • "I'm committed to cakes" aahhhahahahaha love it

  • No Simon hasnt gone all Hollywood, he's got his head screwed on :)

  • THis is SO funny! The phrases "too many cooks spoil the broth" and "selling like hot cakes" are popular uk sayings. thats the whole joke, the audience is laughing when they twig :)

  • @IndyPendantGames I was actually wondering why they did broth. They way I've always heard it is "too many chefs spoil the soup."

Granted its not a saying that comes up much, so I don't know if that's a regional thing or something else.

  • @Affubalator ah ic. well its the same thing really. lol :) so many different ways the world see's comedy, but ya gotta love comedy eh?

  • No its a British saying, altho as i love wordplay i suppose i listen for these kinda things more often :)

  • i don't get it...

  • @freshaca3 "Too many cooks spoil the broth" and "selling like hot cakes" are 2 UK sayings :)

  • pegg's voice is soothing

  • The DVD of Ripping Yarns (Michael Palin 1970's comedy) came with a second audio stream, without the audience laughter track. What a great idea that every director should insist on to maintain their creative vision, whether the studio wants to ruin the TV broadcast with canned laughter or not.

  • uv bolocksed it up

  • Flush a Cake down the Bog!

  • "I'm commited to cakes".

  • this show was so well written with such talented stars RUINED by canned laughter.

shame on the moron who did that.

  • I don't understand this trend of needlessly quoting lines from the video WE ALL JUST FUCKING WATCHED!

    Twats.

  • @Koenraku "needlessly quoting lines" LOL CLASSIC

  • I'm German, what was the first joke?

  • @Luccaluke "They're selling like hot cakes" is an expression like "too many cooks spoil the broth".

  • @MasterAsra thx, but I meant the joke at 0:13 why is the fake studio audience laughing?

  • @Luccaluke if you need to explain a joke it loses it's humor, you either get it or you don't

  • @mikeyboy082 Yeah, you're right, but I'll take this risk ^^

No, seriously, I just wanna know:"Is there any understandable reason for a perfectly english speaking person to laugh at 0:13 and if so, could you explain it to me, even though it would ruin the joke (I can't even understand) to me?" :)

  • @Luccaluke he's speculating as to why the cakes are selling so fast "..perhaps its because we warm them through???.." ie selling like hot cakes

  • @mikeyboy082 ok, not that funny at all, not for me anyway, but thank you for writing it

  • Since Rebecca Front runs the factory, do they bake self-eating cakes? Cunt cake?

  • Mark Heap is just a brilliant actor and is my favourite :)

  • what was the last answer simon pegg said? i didnt catch that?

  • @MyUpsilon He said "You could say... You've bollocksed it up!"

  • @Ottae cool. thks.

  • you guys write some good stuff

  • kevin eldon is great!

  • '...its this surfeit of cooks which is having such negative impact on the broth..'' fucking genuis!!

  • Want some Vanilla Cake with Frosting

  • Big train was brilliant. Please bring it back!

  • simons face at 0:34 lol

  • too many cooks, bollocks the broth

  • It's like Simon Pegg is acting like Nick Frost..

  • what was the last thing he said? lol

  • Sorry but I'd like to ask which accent the chief has? The one who is at the cake department and is demonstrating the project.

A guy in my college has exactly the same accent.

pardon me for my mistakes, I'm still learning English :P.

  • @icanseethefuture I would say its a home counties/south east england accent

  • @icanseethefuture he is from oxford. his name is mark heap and has been in great shows such as Spaced, Brass Eye and Jam.

  • hot cakes refers to pancakes. if I am not mistaken.

  • The way he is looking around at 2:07 is just brilliant!

  • I've never understood the phrase. We were told as kids NOT to eat them as you'd get a sore stomache?

  • Did you notice the "broth departMEAT" at 1:40? I'm sure you didn't, face it ! :p

  • @cafard2 i did, hahahahah

  • @cafard2 it doesnt say departmeat it says department..there's just a little smudge under the n.

  • @cafard2 ...what and that makes you feel special then? Uh-huh. You're still wrong =(

  • it sounds like she says "You need to cut out the smart remarks. Cake, it's down to You, Peter!"

  • tongue in the teeth after the hot cakes comment makes it

  • "Quote"

  • Watching this video is making me want to work in a cake factory. I have seen this sketch of big train before and I loved it and watching it now, it still makes me laugh.

    PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!!!!!!!!

  • I just want to live in a world where how you make cakes AND what you say about them is of the utmost significance!

  • If you are Karl Pilkington "Too many chinese cooks spoil the broth" - famous chinese proverb.

  • i like Simon's character's smug look after he comes up with "Hot Cakes" lol

  • im sorry but whats teh secind pun/ saying about the broths? i dont get it

  • @zegroovatron Too many cooks spoil the broth

  • She really should have fired him. You can't have smart alec's making glib remarks about cakes.

  • pause at 0:35

  • these waarrrmed through cakes

  • Hahaha! Well, too many cooks do spoil the broth.

  • I can't tell what the hell it is, but this is awesome.

  • SImon Pegg's facial expressions are priceless.

  • I love Rebecca Front's facial gestures in this

  • thats fake laughing really gets on nerves

  • that woman's face at 2:10 is possibly one of the funniest things i have seen in a long time...she's hilarious

  • My entire corporate career was just like this sketch, and lasted about as long.

  • @Gorboduc Hahahah love this comment :oD

  • why the eyebrow at the end?

  • I think it would be better without the audience laughs.

  • hell of a cake!

  • Im committed to cakes lol

  • Wow...Simon's clearly been at the cakes during this series. What a porker!

  • A quick intervention now can avoid much avoidable latter effort.

  • Simon Pegg has a knack of delivering hilarious lines of dialogue that have a cake motif. Remember 'Don't eat muffins while I'm developing you!' from 'Black Books'?

  • @GezzaHALO

    it's youtube!

  • I'm only now getting another part of the humour - that corporate culture has been to ignore common sense over the past 10+ years, and to resent people pointing out the obvious problems in their strategies.

    Bloody funny all ways up.

  • Such a simple joke but brilliant!

  • i dont get this one... does "cake" mean something else in the UK???

  • @dertydex its an old saying, both one liners are obvious old sayings

  • @dertydex. "selling like hot cakes" and "too many cooks spoil the broth" are very common sayings. In the sketch they work around the obvious one liner, thats why he can't understand why no one is saying anything.

  • Such a great sketch! Simon Pegg is excellent, kind of a shame he's gone 'all Hollywood' in a way.

  • yeah feels like his potential his going to waste. It's little touches like his tongue in the first joke that set him apart from the chaff.

  • so petty

  • "Im committed to Cakes" lol Me too.

  • Disturbing, like Monkey Dust, because it's too accurate.

  • ah it's nicola murray frommmmm the thick of it!

  • That's such a great company lol "you bollocksed it up" gets a smile from the boss, I like it

  • This is probably the second best thing with Simon Pegg in; the best being Spaced.

  • @rulerOFtheSKIES Did you see him steal the show in the one episode of Black Books? I wish he was a returning character, he was brilliant in that. I agree though Spaced rocked

  • @Shindai I certainly did, one of my favourite episodes of Black Books ever: "Manny, in 10 years you could have been vice deputy sub assistant!"

  • @rulerOFtheSKIES IM REALLY ANGRY NOW!!!

  • You can watch full episodes of this series on my channel! I love big train.

  • there's alot of them isnt there?

  • I love this sketch. Brilliant.

  • Im commited to cakes...

  • Simon Pegg! :D

  • Snarky comments, always the best.

  • quality

  • thats just like i feel at the moment, working in a boring ass insurance company. smart remarks are never welcomed, especially not in the accounting department

  • um ...you could sayy.....You've Bolloxed it up!

I live how she nods like that remark is somehow better than the previous one XD

  • this surplus of cooks has a negative effect on the broth

  • @illhead69 "surfeit"

  • @illhead69 It's "surfeit".

  • @illhead69 surfeit I believe

  • "I'm committed to cakes"

  • assuming its a pun?

  • not a pun.

"Selling like hot cakes" and "Too many cooks spoil the broth" are extremely famous sayings in England.

  • or a refference to something?

  • these warmed through cakes

  • he was going to say "too many cooks spoil the broth"

  • Sory guys.. but can someone tell me what he was sposed to say @ the end that he couldnt?

  • "Too many cooks spoil the broth"

    :-)

  • CLASS!!! The best comedy.. most of the time.

  • total quality!

  • I'm comitted to cakes!

You would think having so many cooks would make it better but its making it worse

Big train is absolute comedy genius!

  • The real genius of this is that enigmatic eyebrow raise at the end

  • the smug look on his face when he says it though

    priceless

  • "These warmed through cakes."

  • This is piss-funny!

  • You fat handed twat.

  • LMFAO,

    "I'm commited to cakes!"

  • Stellar performance from the Actor Kevin Eldon here

  • i know i probably seem like a complete idiot. but in the end i dont get it. what would he have said?

  • Too many cooks spoil the broth

  • "Yup, you've bolloxed it up"

  • (cough) "You could say, you've spoiled the Broth"

  • The expression is "Too many cooks spoil the broth"

  • too many cooks spoil the soup.

  • detrimental to the broth

  • First saw this after I had been sacked from my job for "insubordination" (well that's what I was told. Perhaps I was saying too many smart alec remarks). Now I know the real reason.

  • you could say...

...that you bolloxed it up :p

  • i think it wouldve been funny if after he suppressed the joke his boss then piped up and said "You could say, 'Too many cooks spoil the broth!'" and got a big laugh from everyone

  • Canned laughter?

  • Oh, you were referring to two different sketches, my bad.

I assumed Dogor was the tyrant's name :)

  • What are the "postman kills dogor galactic tyrant" sketches? I'm very intrigued.

  • haha broth :L

  • This is the best comedy show to come out of the UK.. I have never seen this sketch though and have to say brilliant, allmost as good as the postman kills dogor galactic tyrant sketches... fuck...maybe better!!!

  • man stroke woman is good too

  • And how about Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Blackadder, A Bit of Fry and Laurie?

English humor is one of the greatest on the planet, I'm not even British and I love it.

  • English humour is the most dignified and sarcastic kind. It makes for very interesting sketch comedy.

If you like Big Train, try watching a show called "Spaced". That's hilarious.

  • Cheers...had a look at the first episode. Something different, didnt know how to take it...but not too bad i guess. :) Whats the premise or underlying theme for the series.??

  • It's just a sketch show. From the same people who wrote father ted and black books. I suppose a common theme is fictional or historical characters in an everday situation. Or a silly situation played straight.

  • Sorry thats big train. Did not read all comments. Spaced is a st com about two people who live in a flat together. But they are not good looks perfect 20 somethings with good jobs. The are unsure confused 20 somethings. It really is great stuff.

  • if movie parodies were in show form, spaced would be that. it kinda spoofs moments in movies and shows

  • Comment removed

  • Very clever and funny. I wouldn't last a day at that company.

  • One of my fave Big Train sketches.

"Ahem. You could say...... Yep, ya bolloxed it up!"

    Classic

  • awesome xD

  • I'm committed to cakes!!! love it - best comedy sketch show ever
