Amazing recovery! And for the time, those engines meant business as you can see how fast it began to climb. If this was an Airbus, like an a340 it might have crashed.
I doubt they can recover as fast and the computer would have probably gotten in the way.
I swear DC-8's have to be the worst fucking airliner ever. Ive known too many crashes that have happened with this aircraft. I would NEVER fly on one.
Real video. UPS DC-8 trying to land at Ontario (California) during one of Southern California's infamous "Santa Ana" conditions (high, hot winds moving east to west).
@lexx745890243 crosswind, a large gust of wind blowing to the right in this vid pilot pulled up and turned into the wind if he/she did notwould have lost controll of plane and crashed.
I've been landing on Schiphol / The Netherlands with wind shear where the plane was tilting to the point where the tip of the left wing was almost hitting the ground. Thank "god" the pilots decided to make a relauch and did a full throttle take-off again to retry the landing attempt. The reaction of all the people (including me!) when the plane was tilting like that was: "woooow"... It was a wild "ride" I tell you... but we were clapping our hands of when we finally landed! SAFELY!
" Attention this is your Capt. speaking...your friendly flight attendants will now be handing out complimentary underwear for those of you who just soiled yours. Again, this is your capt thanking you for choosing OH SHIT Airlines "
Great Pilot! He had a tail wind that was pushing his tail up, so he was having difficulty on his approach, and then the crazy crosswind ... He did a great job recovering the aircraft and powering up. Textbook recovery, and he'll circle around and try again...

@terrorizerr1 Not really it's fail-operative, so the chances of it failing twice is almost negligible. It'll even tune your braking power so you reach the perfect taxi speed at the runway exit you select. All in the name of increasing airport efficiency.
