My guess is that they interviewed a lot of people and took the stupidest answers. I'm 16 and I knew the answers to all but two questions. There are dumb people in every country, not just America. I'm a little biased because it's my home, but I think we have some of the smartest people in the world here too. Just my small opinion.

I'm not defending the people in this video (I mean c'mon, these are pretty easy questions) but I think you'd be surprised if you came to the United States and saw what it was really like. The funny thing is that last year in our AP sociology class our teacher played us a video like this about our own people in the United States and everyone was apalled at the fact that some people didn't know things like this. Not everyone in the US is completely ignorant.

@Maindo94 it isn't really a matter of censoring or isolation, some americans just think that they are the best and they shouldn't have to learn anything about other cultures because they are from the US, but not all of us think that way. many of us enjoy the cultures of different countries (like i enjoy the french) and many of us are aware of the world outside of the USA, but there are people here who think otherwise and it is sad that a lot of countries judge americans based on the stupid ones.

Who is to say that they didn't cut out the Americans that gave intelligent answers and kept the stupid ones to lower opinions on Americans even further. @mike7795 I'm not familiar with american universities, however I've been told that they were among the bests. I don't know how they determine that. For some matters, studies, universities only bring a graduation, and a bit of knowledge, useful or not. And this is good you taught yourself what you need. But some other matters need a real teaching in universities. I'm currently studying the law in France and I know I couldn't become what I want to become otherwise.

C'est évident que l'on se bidonne en regardant cette vidéo (moi-même j'étais mort de rire) mais il faut être conscient que les personnes que nous avons vu dans cette vidéo ne sont qu'un petit échantillon d'un très grand nombre de personnes interviewées afin d'obtenir cet excellent documentaire sur le manque flagrant de culture. En général, il est fort probable que les Américains connaissent mieux leur histoire que cela. Au Québec, nous ne sommes pas particulièrement mieux...

@mike7795 I'm not familiar with american universities, however I've been told that they were among the bests. I don't know how they determine that. For some matters, studies, universities only bring a graduation, and a bit of knowledge, useful or not. And this is good you taught yourself what you need. But some other matters need a real teaching in universities. I'm currently studying the law in France and I know I couldn't become what I want to become otherwise.

@SuperEdyal Oui, tout comme moi. Mais comme tu dis c'est un problème de culture, et pas d'intelligence. Ils ont peut être une majorité de personnes peu ou pas cultivées, ils ont aussi les plus grands chercheurs et scientifiques du monde.
C'est un système éducatif à deux vitesses, qui en favorisent certains aux dépends d'autres, un choix politique complètement assumé.
Je désapprouve totalement mais en même temps je suis pas chez eux, j'ai rien à dire.

Some French guys have done the same in France. Same results. It's not only about dumb people, who have no culture and low I.Q., it's also the way to ask the questions (fast, no breaks, a lot of different kind of questions...).

But the "problem" there is the basic education (primary and secondary) education is low in USA. Just because Americans think the only real education starts in college. This was a political choice. You have some of the best universities but the people who can't enter them remains uneducated.
Beside, war in Iraq has been initiated by americans, helped by British. France has refused.
