I remember reading an article, phil asked kobe "do you want to go back in" and kobe replied no! =(. Humility just lost him a chance at 90+ points and MAYBE a shot at 100 if those 3's kept falling like they had.

check 96-97 season: barkley won. jordans team had more wins, jordan was avging 30ppg,5apg,6rpg at effing 50% (unreal.) and he still lost it. therefore, if CP3 won it wouldnt have been a big deal.

@st0royale First off, New Orleans lost in the semifinals to the Spurs and second DAvid West is a good player and that year Peja was on fire, he had a decent team period. Kobe deserved that MVP that year they were in first place in the tough Western conference. Kobe should have like 3-4 MVP's by now (don't forget the 03 season when he was playing great).

just that year, cp3 made his team better. look at when he went down. all of a sudden david west is no longer a good player? all of a sudden peja goes cold? doesnt take a genius to put 2 and 2 together, he made his team better.
kobe was shooting close to 45% while cp3 was nearly 48; kobes teammates were bynum, gasol, odom. you're willing to trade those three for peja, d.west, chandler??

@st0royale Hey genius so you're saying MJ didn't deserve any of his MVPs. When he retired the bulls got like 50+ wins that season, why did they not falter? A true MVP makes his teammates better not in the SHORT RUN BUT ALSO IN THE LONG RUN. A true MVP like Kobe teaches them to think for themselves and not be reliant on only him. Look at what happened to cleveland when Lebron left. The players don't know what to do because Lebron didn't provide anything/teach them anything.

@nitotech thats not what im saying at all. i just said, kobe deserves more mvps. but that year. cp3 had a better season end of story. 22ppg,11apg,4rpg,2.7spg at 48%clip for the second seed in the west with shit teammates > 28ppg,5apg,5rpg at 45% clip with pau,bynum odom
in case you didnt know, mvp is decided at the end of the season, not playoffs, becuz playoffs dont factor into mvp decision. therefore, kobe couldve been wiped out in the first round, they still cant nullify his mvp.

@st0royale No because kobe had to learn to trust his teammates that year and that's big on his part so kobe was better. First off Pau came in the middle of the season and Bynum got injured in the middle of the season. Chris Paul had good players around him in West, peja, and tyson chandler and good bench players. And you're comparing stats when Kobe averaged much much better stats 2 years ago.

@nitotech he wouldnt have won it two years ago. too close to the rape case. an mvp shouldnt have controversy surrounding him. (exception is iverons; he REALLY had shit teammates) chris paul's team sucked. youre claiming cp3's teammates are as good as the lakers minus kobe. once you realize they arent, then you see why cp3 deserves mvp that year.
