hierodula looks so much like sphodromantis . how are they differientated ? anyone can help? i have 8 wild caught giant asian mantis juvenile( i am from singapore)
When we lived in OC CA we had a Praying Mantis that use to hang just outside our door, on the wall. I got to where I could pet it and it would just sit there and when I would come home, the PM was there and would pet it. It sure like eating all those stupid bugs that would come by.
It got to a point where it would rotate its head when I was there and turn its head when I would pet it. We called ours NORMAN.
Mantis says: munch munch hes feeding me and giving me a shelther what a dork now i only have to kill him when hes a sleep and theres total world abomination whuhwhuwhhahaha.
need to add "slow motion" sound effects on the second showing of the manis grabbing the locust, even though there was no sound on the first one, just to make it "slow mo".
yeah you thought that was cool i had a praying mantis and he got this cricket and he grabbed him so fast then the cricket got free so he was pist and then he grabbed him again and ripped his head off it was crazy we named him gory.
Nice video i've got a sphodromantis lineola currently at L4. I'm feeding it small locusts at the moment. I can't wait until it's fully grown; then i can feed it some bigger insects.
the praymantis had rhasta with him to bind the locust.. so he could use his swifting speed from sange and yasha with a buraiza to instantly kill the locust...
and i thought i was addicted to dota. i guess my addiction is that of a one-cigarrate-a-year compared to ur wake-n-bake. sny is not THAT good. i prefer 3 eagles. slap those on a bone fletcher = gg.
duh the mantis is the fastest animal alive today, plus they get a bonus, live prey, they eat anything, mouse, bird, spider, anything to get into their grasp mayby even a scorpuin
Aw Crap!! Is That How I Came Across!?!? L.O.L Naw, I'm Not Pissed At All, I Just Wanted To See The Matis Pounce On That Locust And Bite The Hell Out Of It, That All. It's All Good Though.
Ah Crap. Is That How I Came Across!?? Naw, I Ain't Pissed At All. I Just Wanted To See That Mantis Pounce On That Locust And Bite The Hell Out Of It, That's All. But Naw, I Ain't Pissed, It's All Good.
Say Man, What The Hell Was That!!?? What's With The Tweezers?!?? That Mantis Didn't Need Any Help!! You Should Have Let Them Just Put Up Their Dukes And Box It Out!!! Don't Get Me Wrong, It Was Still Pimp To Watch, Just Don't Help Out The Mantis. The Mantis Is A Predator, He Can Hunt For His Own Food, Cool??
I once saw a mantis in my back yard feeding on a cricket. These crikets (and grasshoopers, locusts ect.) Still keep kicking even when there whole head is gone.
nature is so unforgiving, cruel, and beautiful at the same time. i am in as much awe as i am filled with sadness for the onde being eaten. hopefully i get to be the mantis in some next life and not the grasshoper. but i've seen the mantis get owned too, thas just how the food chain works. such is life on this god blessed and god forsaken planet...
lol he looked like he was starving when he startedeating that thing. I fed a mantis a grass hoper before, he ate it from the eye when it was still living lol
Ah! Gentle reader, do not be mislead by him. Bugs can, in fact feel pain. Bugs do, in fact, possess a nervous system what allows them to keep track of their environment, including their general physical well being; invertebrate simply means they lack a spinal column.
But, that being said, who cares? Locusts have been a threat to human well-being on a large scale for centuries. That Mantis is protecting US!
Yikes!!! That's just wrong!!! If you're gonna eat me, at least kill me first. She just ate the poor victim at her leisure with no concern for his/her pain and protest. Just wrong!!!
have you ever had locust escapes? Why doesn't your mantis fly away? My crickets always escape 'cos they can flatten their bodies can locusts do the same?
wow...one thing though that wasnt a locust and i know that because i have them bugs in my basement they are spider crickets but hey that was freakin awesome
I wonder how many people would become vegetarians if they had to kill their own meat.. it's nature..! and that's from someone who was a vegi for 15 years..!
who's 'we' freakshow? if you think destroying our environment can be written off as our 'struggle for survival', you are very very ignorant. Tree huggers are crying b/c people are smart enough to create sustainable economies, but are too easily led by people profiting from immediate and unsustainable growth. Fishermen know if they fish too much, their kids will need to find a different job. Nature and science are immune to our morality and only react to our actions.
