@iamgibb0 I run a 6col. Heid. CD w/AQ in Toronto. I've been at my place for 11 years. I make $38/per hour and i'm not the highest paid guy. I started off feeding for $16.75/hour and worked hard to get to where I am. Unfortunately printing is a dying trade. If you really want to be a Litho man you must learn all you can from good printers and be better than the rest and you will survive! Trust me, there are a lot of hackers out there. Work hard and you'll make money!
i quit my apprenticeship in pritning, dumbest thing i ever did, was working on a 2 colour heidelberg sordz im pretty sure. was awesome, i wish i could do it again!
I've run all kinds of presses, and I have been running Heidelbergs for the longest time. They offer superior build quality and technology. Quite simply put they run a long time very well and Heidelbergs' service is far superior to any of the Japaneese presses.
Though heidelbergs have been the industry standard for decades, I'll put the print quality of a Roland up against a heidelberg any day. KBA's are a hot press at the moment as well.
Yep. Your right. I was always told, as an apprentice, that Heidelberg was the Rolls Royce of printing. And they were right. Komori are good....but dont last. Remember the Fuji 52???? where are they now??? but the GTO 52 still keeps going!!!! Speedmasters the same.
Hey mowerman, I got stuck on a 2/c fuji 25 inch with a fuji 52 next to it covered up with a tarp, What a joke, every time I tried to use the sheet decurler the feeder would stop sucking, couldn't use the headstops as it would screw up the register, . I hope my Toyota lasts longer than that Fuji. Life is good running a 5/c SM 74 !
YEAH but thats just it,,, anybody who has run both for years knows the better press for the PRESS PERSON ! I've got more f'in cuts, srcaps, all over my body from Komoris and old and new everything on those f'er's are as sharpe as @#$% ..Heidelbergs all makes NOT A SCRATCH and room to move SMARTER choice,,, Canada !!
its not only a question of brand... all of those presses have their pros and cons... its up to the printer what he likes most... kba and roland build some nice presses as well. but heidelberg is still the biggest manufacterer. thats the point... ;)
Most overrated machine ever to be came out of Germany. Speedmaster still has the same crap mechanical design since the 80s. KBA and Roland build superior machines, too bad most printers are just too brainwashed to comprehend it.
We got an 8 color plus coater 74-8 CP2000 Speedmaster Heidelberg and its one of the best presses that i've been on. I thought Komori's were the shit but Perfecting is the way to go and theres always that sweet option of printing straight up. Four colors plus for pms's and coating in one run dosn't get any easier then that. All automatic even the ink goes in auto ! Sweet!
Heidelberg perfecting is fab we have a 1/4 and perfect 250g at full speed! A good tip is to switch to teflon hammerd jackets instead of Super blues. Pack out the teflon jacket on the perfecting unit just enough to get the thickest sheet through - test this by sliding the thick sheet between the impession and the teflon jacket. This will hold a thicker sheet in place against the perfecting suckers. After 3 months we had dropped 2 sheets. Metal jackets run cleaner and i have perfected 350g.
best print machines are Millers, less dot gain than on others

Como trabaja la Speedmaster, a una velocidad de 12000 hojas por hora, envidia para las pequeñas imprentas.

Heidelbergs are an outstanding press, But as for being 'far superior' to the Japanese Presses, The Komori's we have blow them out of the water.

That German printer needs to lay off the German sausage for a while. He'd be bolloxed getting between the units of a Komori.
