Nobody stands up like this anymore because of George Herbert Walker Bush. Since at least 1963, he has controlled the entire western world through the terror and assassination network that is the CIA. The true purpose of the CIA is nothing more than Anglo-Germanic supremacy all over the world, and the destruction of anyone -- regardless of race -- who would ever interfere with that, through "race mixing" policies such as communism.
And since 1963, when GHW Bush and his father Prescott masterminded the Dallas assassination of John F. Kennedy as revenge for Kennedy's having recently fired their good family friend, Allen Dulles, from being the head of the CIA, too many prominent people who have tried to truly stand up and challenge the corruption in America and all around the world, have been silenced or assassinated -- "mysteriously".
I don't think a "democracy" is anything more than two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner, however I find it refreshing to see a politician willing to challenge the status quo, and to fight the unnecessary use of military action.
Can we get some protest going people. lets get out there and protest this shit
i am in Illinois anyone else up for it... They wont stop this war unless majority of us show up and make them... So stop watching videos and lets do something about it.
@username0727 I was at the protest in 2003 in NYC where there were more than 100,000 of us protesting. Worldwide that day were millions protesting. I didn't see any tangible effect from that protest. It made me feel like it was a waste of time. I don't think the majority of Americans will protest for change until they, personally, are effected. I just think things have to get really bad for the majority of us to get off our butts. We just don't want to be or can't be bothered.
Just like Ron Paul, he clearly saw an act that was unconstititonal. It is interesting that the only member of the House that spoke out against Vietnam was a fundamentalist christian by the name of Eugene Siler from Kentucky.
By 1964 the criminals got away with the ventilation of JFK's head, and our people showed then they were brain dead by not hearing Senator Morse and see the regime media for the scum the were and are.
His point on faith in democracy really struck me. I never looked at foreign policy from that perspective. What an intelligent and critical Senator he was.

Wow I didn't realize only two senators voted against the Gulf of Tolkin resolution. Listen to that idiot reporter on face the nation you would expect some nonsense undemocratic rhetoric like this out of Nazi Germany. Now I know why i don't bother watching MSM media. Worthless.
I listened to this guy -- "The Tiger of the Senate" -- debate the Vietnam War live, to a big crowd in Portland, about 1964.
This is what Oregon politicians used to be like, before the Wydens, Kulongoskis, and DeFazio career politicians took over. Independent, intelligent, and ethical. And here's more proof.
Sen. Morse I think was only saying that he wanted to explain the foreign policy to the people. The media clown didn't think the people would understand it.. It should have been explained to the people.
Sen. Morse seems to forget that we don't live in a democracy; we live in a representative republic. In a representative republic the elected officials make foreign policy not the people. The people's prerogative is to choose who makes foreign policy, not the policy itself. Wanna claim that Vietnam was an unmitigated disaster, I agree. But the people aren't responsible for making foreign policy.
He was my dad's Const. Law professor at Oregon. In Aug. of '62 we stopped in DC to see him. I was 12 yrs old and unimpressed w/the slow motion droning of a bored Senate chamber. Suddenly, a Senator strode up to the mike and started an impassioned oration. Everyone was electrified. Hollywood couldn't have done it better. He was warning about meddling in VietNam. When he finished and left the chamber stunned. My dad said, "That's Wayne Morse". Later he bought me a chocolate sundae!
World Peace: If you defend war, then you are wrong. This isn't an opinion, it's a fact. Peace isn't a political concept...it's a moral concept. Those who search for peace, through peaceful means, WILL find it. Those who search for peace, through acts of war, WILL only find war. LASTING peace can not be achieved through war. The brief period between the end of one war and beginning of another war is not peace. When the fear of war is vanquished, then and only then will there be PEACE.
He reminds me a little of Ron Paul :) Morse was brave; he didn't hop on the bandwagon... but it's sad that thinking or doing what is right is seen as something extraordinary. Why is it that we allow ourselves to fall for the same propaganda time & time again? Innocence can't be used as an excuse again - right?
Anacosti NAS. The base commander knew I was from Oregon & went Sen Morse flew in, Cmd. Lewis? asked me to meet Sen. Morse & welcome him back to Washington. I was thrilled to talk with him again.

Sen. Wayne Morse was known to the powerful as "Wayne the Pain" because he caused them discomfort through his adherence to the TRUTH. I met the man when I was a young (teenage) antiwar protester and he is a lifelong hero of mine. A firm Constitutionalist and advocate of civil liberties and rights, the one who best embodies Sen. Morse's ideals today is Ron Paul.
What an orator.. Real Kahunas this man had.. The current pretenders are pussies hiding behind mercenaries and dictators and the police while grinning and lying and thieving to glory.. Have America wasted a good politician there or what ? Now the US Democrats have to pick between Obama and Clinton.. How far have the standards fallen ? Have you got any more of this Great man ?
I worked for Wayne Morse when he was Dean of the Oregon Law School. He was an intelligent, honest and honorable man. I wish we had senators like him today, when we need them so badly.
I wish Ron Paul's speaking ability was comparible to Wayne Morse. Paul's message is strong, but could be carried further and faster if you could just put a little "umph" in it.
Sen. Wayne Morse sounds a lot like Presidential Canditate Dennis Kucinich . . . let the people decide war, not the president, which is the way it would have been if President Bush had not taken US into his own hands.
A well informed population could simply vote on it. I think going to war is a damn good reason to call a vote. Unfortunatly this would mean *real* democracy, which is not a desireable situation for the people in charge, as they would not be in charge if this happened. Hence people today are neither well informed nor get any say in foreign policy.
And what makes you think people in the government are intelligent? And why do you separate "the people" and "the government"? They should be one and the same no? (*Should be*).
To say that people in general should not be trusted to use their intellect provided the proper information, and be subjugated to some sort of superior class is a heavily anti-democratic, rather "eugenic" thing to say.
look. the governemnt IS dishonest and a leech. but we can expect them to act like a dishonest leech. then using our limited inluence (which should be increased) we can get them not to act like a leech 4 a little while. the people are sheep. they follow whoever looks like he knows what he is doing. if you have a people run country you'll just have a bunch of strongmen politicians. Also corporations would gain huge influence. (not a good thing)p.s. are you familiar with athenian democracy?
I got news for you, corporations have huge influence *today*, right now. And better participation in democracy and a better educated populace acts to fight this, not encourage it. I don't see how you can draw that conclusion. I also don't understand your stance that people should be kept stupid and subjugated.
Wayne Morse understood exactly what democracy was.
u r assumeing that the populace can easily become better educated and informed. (informed maybe, but I would ask who is doing the informing becasue whoever does basically controls public opinion) really, corporations have influence today^? but in your propsed society, they have a much greater influence. do you want your country run by corporations or governemnts? (as if the gov. isn't bought off by the corporations)
--u r assumeing that the populace can easily become better educated and informed.--
Why wouldnt i assume that well-informed people make good decisions? Do you just assume that everyone is stupider than you or do you include yourself in "the people"? Morse called for disclosure of info to the public, this includes removing misinformation and propaganda. He is very correct in his statements.
persons can be very intelligent. people though usually aren't.
"Why wouldnt i assume that well-informed people make good decisions" see my thing about corporate influence.
p.s. I agree with what morse said, I'm trying to understand how "the people" separate from the gov. (which is supposed to be the people) would dictate foreign policy. all you've said is educated informed people would vote on it. I don't think that would effectively dictate foreign policy.
--but in your propsed society, they have a much greater influence--
First off, i didnt propose a society. Im commenting on this video, Wayne Morse and your comment that people cannot be trusted with democracy and foreign policy. Second if you think corporate interests do not play a part in US foreign policy, you're living in a cave. Third, when you say corp influence would increase with a stronger democracy, id love to know what you base that on.
the idea of calling avote on war and other such matters would be a very different society. sorry for accusing u of proposing it. in this stronger democracy each person would have more influence (which is good) however I'm assuming its the mainstream media doing the informing. this would cause the same thing that goes on now with presidential election wear either the canidate with more money or media support would win. the same thing would happen with foreign policy. this is not a good thing.
what pissed you off so much about asking if you knew about athenian democracy? I just find it a very interesting way of doing things. it wasn't a shot at you or anything.
Actually, in Athens, only males who were citizens were allowed to vote for a body called the Council of 200..sort of like the US congress. Women and slaves, which accounted for about 90+% were completely disenfranchised.
thank you for posting this video. wayne morse is truly an inspiration and it really bothers me how just about 99% of our politicians dont have this sort of passion for defending the constitution and choose to stand for special interests
Excellent post! We the People abide! The Power Elite are a name for those who hold tenuous power over a tolerant and peace-loving People. en in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them...
We the people have lost the government, senate, congress, media and of course, the administration to which George Bush controls. This is our country and the only way to protect it is to take it back. We must do this together.
It's easy to see why the Establishment has kept Wayne Morse unfamous. And it's been said that the anti-war movement was a thing of the younger generation of long-haired hippie Jesus freaks.
If the president can start a war: the logical conclusion is that he or she can exercise dictatorial power over anyone who might oppose him? I sounds like they're trying to say that is how thing are and must be. In my lifetime this meant upon turning 18 i was to go to war or be locked up as a felon without ever having a vote. I suppose this is normal.

TainaAtheist 4 years ago
that sounds roses and lolipops, but seriously how do "the people" formulate foreign policy?
urbanclimber777 4 years ago
A well informed population could simply vote on it. I think going to war is a damn good reason to call a vote. Unfortunatly this would mean *real* democracy, which is not a desireable situation for the people in charge, as they would not be in charge if this happened. Hence people today are neither well informed nor get any say in foreign policy.
zenboy3000 4 years ago
people aren't smart enough to vote intelligently even if they're well informed. who would rather decide to go to war, the gov. or viacom?
urbanclimber777 4 years ago

(not a good thing)p.s. are you familiar with athenian democracy?
urbanclimber777 4 years ago
yes kid, I'm familiar with Athenian democracy.
I got news for you, corporations have huge influence *today*, right now. And better participation in democracy and a better educated populace acts to fight this, not encourage it. I don't see how you can draw that conclusion. I also don't understand your stance that people should be kept stupid and subjugated.
Wayne Morse understood exactly what democracy was.
zenboy3000 4 years ago
u r assumeing that the populace can easily become better educated and informed. (informed maybe, but I would ask who is doing the informing becasue whoever does basically controls public opinion) really, corporations have influence today^? but in your propsed society, they have a much greater influence. do you want your country run by corporations or governemnts? (as if the gov. isn't bought off by the corporations)
urbanclimber777 4 years ago
--u r assumeing that the populace can easily become better educated and informed.--
Why wouldnt i assume that well-informed people make good decisions? Do you just assume that everyone is stupider than you or do you include yourself in "the people"? Morse called for disclosure of info to the public, this includes removing misinformation and propaganda. He is very correct in his statements.
zenboy3000 4 years ago
persons can be very intelligent. people though usually aren't.
I don't think that would effectively dictate foreign policy.
urbanclimber777 4 years ago
--but in your propsed society, they have a much greater influence--
First off, i didnt propose a society. Im commenting on this video, Wayne Morse and your comment that people cannot be trusted with democracy and foreign policy. Second if you think corporate interests do not play a part in US foreign policy, you're living in a cave. Third, when you say corp influence would increase with a stronger democracy, id love to know what you base that on.
zenboy3000 4 years ago
the idea of calling avote on war and other such matters would be a very different society. sorry for accusing u of proposing it. in this stronger democracy each person would have more influence (which is good) however I'm assuming its the mainstream media doing the informing. this would cause the same thing that goes on now with presidential election wear either the canidate with more money or media support would win. the same thing would happen with foreign policy. this is not a good thing.

---do you want your country run by corporations or governemnts? (as if the gov. isn't bought off by the corporations)---
Thats a rhetorical fallacy called a "false dilemma". Please study some Aristotle along with your ancient Athenian political systems.
zenboy3000 4 years ago
what pissed you off so much about asking if you knew about athenian democracy? I just find it a very interesting way of doing things. it wasn't a shot at you or anything.
urbanclimber777 4 years ago
Actually, in Athens, only males who were citizens were allowed to vote for a body called the Council of 200..sort of like the US congress. Women and slaves, which accounted for about 90+% were completely disenfranchised.
partymariner 4 years ago
ya. i jsut kinda like the idea (direct democracy not rule by 10% of the people) of it even if its practical.

We the people have lost the government, senate, congress, media and of course, the administration to which George Bush controls. This is our country and the only way to protect it is to take it back. We must do this together.

I couldn't agree more! We need more people like Wayne Morse, who aren't afraid to speak the truth.
