  • it´s very funny when so small voice sing Eboli!!!!! Ha, ha, ha...

  • Eboli seems almost as vacillating and angst ridden as Carlos. The tragedies stem from keeping secrets. Is the song about a woman flipping skirts to get back into favor? Is it about a love hate marriage in which both parties masquerade to get what they want? Is it about keeping unmentionables secret (symbolized by the veil) that that could only get everyone (literally) burned? It's certainly strangling everyone.

  • @VolkgartenBySquirrel I agree-it really works better in French.

  • I much prefer this song in French. The Italian translation had to rewrite the vocal line a bit to fit the heavier new words. Too bad the opera is so rarely recorded and performed in the original, even by houses that perform everything else in the original language.

    Kozena could never sing Eboli, obviously, but she's fine in this piece. It does seem oddly placed in this opera, like it's written for a completely different voice than the Amneris-like voice required for the rest of the part.

  • I've just seen this in Italian. Amazing that I can go and see it in French also. It's a magnificent piece

  • Superbe !!!

  • Superb!

  • "Au Palais des Fils" :) "The Palace of the Sons"

  • It's "fees", which means fairies.

  • does it say who the tebaldo is?

  • Marina Lodygensky :).

  • ce qui m'intéresse, c'est la musicalité divine de Magdalena Kozena et la conviction intelligente de son interprétation;

    certaines "petites" incorrections augmentent l'intérêt cf. "tristes apprêtes, pâles flAbeaux"
