  • 0:38 is not a visual from india but pakistan.......

  • it is proven beyond doubt that Pak is biggest proliferator of nuke tech and that to rough states like N korea & Libya, i mean is carrying her brain or forget it at home.

  • it is very sorry that AlJaZeera always start with view which is against india.

  • uday bhaskar is really really smart. Just look how calm and composed he is compared to the rest.

  • look at 0.36..

  • Sami Zaidan the presenter is paid by pakistani intelligence agency ISI..

he is just poor has a poor IQ>>.

  • who did he say has the story amit bal or val. The guy who is narrating the story has an arabic acent. hummm...interesting. we never say amerrrrican we say amrican

  • @seekerbiswas At 11:08 all jazerra writes in caption - bottom screen .India started nuclear bomb in 80s which is false.

The Smiling Buddha, formally designated as Pokhran-I, was the codename of a operation of a first nuclear test explosion by India on 18 May 1974 at Pokhran.

Shame on this islamic sharia channel giving false information.

this is the credibilty of a muslim channel...

    Shame shame puppy shame.

  • wow pakistani woman is talking about NPT treaty , ask her who gave nuke tech to libya, iran etc etc, seems she forget about A.Q.Khan Episode. And what about China? how pakistan itself got nuclear tech, its not hidden to anyone.

  • In the U.S., we have a bit of a Spanish problem but we are also being swamped by millions of Indians and Pakis. Everyday, it just gets worse and worse. Also, we are enabling both India and China to overpopulate with reckless abandon. China, you are totally out of control--your feeble efforts have done nothing helpful. India, you will be overtaking China soon. What do you have, a total of 33 trees? China has 40.

  • is it our problem , that there are million of pakis in US , we have no concern with those terrorists , you are the assholes who first supported and funded terrorists and when the same hit your ass at 9/11 , you people start crying, oh my god , terrorists are a menace for world peace , where was the world peace when you people were using them against the soviets,

  • cool, you are right about the Moslem Horde, right about "Charlie Wilson's War." We forgot that no one wins in Afghanistan except the Afghans. And look out, here comes independent Iraq. The fun is just starting.

India and Pakistan--we need YOU to start the fireworks again--total thermonuclear war is what you both crave and deserve. cool, do you agree?

  • sorry about the previous post dear, i used some harsh words, now coming to the point , pakistan is already a dead country, any single attack from any country will divide the country further. FATA wants its independence, SWAT wants their , Baluchis are also struggling for freedom from pakistan. so any further war will lead pakistan to its total destruction, thats the reason why india didn't attacked pakistan after Mumbai attacks. But terrorism can't be stopped until pakistan is divided.

  • The same snake pakistan feeded for years is now hurting them the most. And again they have the heart to say that RAW, CIA and MOSSAD are carrying out these attacks , mark my words , US can never win its war on Terror , or whatever, untill they completely destroy pakistan , which is highly unlikely, the only solution remains is to divide the country into four independent states. so they can live in peace

  • Snakes are innocent, Hindus and Moslems are not but you are right, cool, a war on terror can never be won: try to picture a neighborhood enemy attacking one's house and property, at all different times of the day or night. It is not possible to counter such a withering assault.

  • well destroy the neighborhood completely. its so simple. why you are against Hindus and Buddhists, i never seen anyone from these 2 going abroad and blowing up buildings and killing people.

  • cool's point is not without merit. You Moslems are not good news. This does not mean the U.S. needs its own Hindus and Sikhs but we must consider expelling our Moslems. Wherever Islam is, moderate or extreme, trouble is right there, too.

  • LOL i am not a moslem, i have no religion. i was born human.

  • Ur religious comments show how u represent ur own religion.

Thats all i like to say.

  • What is my religion, say-chak?

  • Not necessery for me to tell the world.

Truth is not required to be propagated..it is understood

    and understood rightly.

  • Hey sy-bor:

You said I have a religion--what it is? Be consistent.

  • You know a story?

A fox coloring itself as tiger and ruling the jungle?

one day rain washed the color and he was caught.

Unfortunately internet does not rain..so thers no chance for that fox to be caught.

So I am cautious..and dont paint a fox.

be it atheist be it Chrt be it Mus be it any other..the fox can not be caught here...it can only be realized and understood.

    Almost given u a hint...

  • Fair enough, say-k. In the words of Aesop: "The Gods help them that help themselves"

Heh, heh, heh. And Bugs Bunny says: "Oh, yay, Doc, I ain't lying."

  • say-k--you know a story? Once there was a beautiful country with lots of room for people and tigers. Then, that country went bye-bye and in its place a humanoid monster sprang up. Do you know where that country is?

  • many r there...almost all the country

    but r u talking about UK/USA ?

because i cant see any other monster countries around who oppressed mankind for hundreds of years.(Hiroshima/nagasaki/british rule...list is endless)

  • Comment removed

  • such a bullshit news channel ......

  • this is PAKISTAN from 00:00 to 1:00

muslim people hating bush , this never happens in india

  • don't put bush picture 1:43 in to dog dog are very good animals in earth they obey the ower's word put his picture in frog that's good or jackal

  • In the past the usa had always supported the pakistanis;I do not think the us pak will change.

  • The commies were looking for any excuse to pullout of the central coalition government. This was just the right opportunity for them. They were hoping to sink the government, or keep the US out of India. Either way, they'd have won. The main agenda being, political gain. They didn't want the credit for the deal going to the Right Wing.

  • first this aljazera channel is stupid... he called miss mazari at 11:50... second mazari is talking out of emotion and frustration... lol.. aljazeera suck my balls

  • now india proved...they have signed the deal...

  • I will help out the pakistani woman...you see there is no balance of power in south asia.... India is the major power in S Asia and India and China are the two major Asian mainland powers. PAKISTAN AND OTHER MINNOWS DO NOT FIGURE IN THE EQUATION.

  • stupid arab news channel.

  • Stupid Arabs... ... when will you learn!

There is a difference between Iran and India.

Iran signed the NPT and is pursuing Nuclear weapons, while India never signed the treaty and tested her first atomic weapon in 1974.

  • The communists are the biggest traitors to Mankind. I am from West Bengal which used to be India's best state at one time but these bastard communists have ruined it. They have allowed illegal immigrants for votes and have kept the state poor and enjoy a great life themselves. They must be kicked out along with their supporters. The World not only India would be a better place without these communist fuckers.

  • The commies were against the Quit India Movement in 1942. More recently, they were celebrating the 50th anniversary of Tibet's "liberation" from China - Karat, Yechury and Buddhadeb leading the party. When China attacked India is 1962, Basu said "We do not know what is happening in those mountains", refusing to blame China!

Those SOBs should be shot dead, not kicked out.

  • I am from Orissa. The commies are actually exporting their idiotic "ideology" to Orissa, stirring up anti-industrialization sentiments among the masses etc. Crooks!

  • Sorry, Buddha is actually supporting industrialisation.

You are confusing between CPIM and Maoists. I don't support their violent means.

But Orissa is the first place that needs communism. I lived 4.5 years in Bhubaneswar.

Even in Lingaraj Temple you have Devdasis, daughters of poor villagers given over to the Priests for sexual expolitation in the name of religion. I am talking about the years 2000-2004.

  • Oriyas are religious fanatics, agreed, and the poor are exploited. Yet, thanks but no thanks, we can do without commnists. I just read in today's Times of India. Orissa is the number one state in total investment (worth Rs. 6 lakh crore!).

The CPI(M) was specifically against computerization of India's banks up to the mid 90s.

  • When the Brits were kicked out, Bengal was the leading state in India. Today it is probably equal or below average in most measures of quality of life.

My own state of Orissa was bottom-most until recently. Ironically after it moved to the RIGHT (when Naveen Patnaik became CM), Orissa has been doing well. Orissa is among the top 3 states in investment, and in a decade may be an industrialized state.

The most advanced state is Gujarat, which never had any truck with the CPI(M).

  • The Mullas in islamic countries are crying because there will be a strong india, in their neighbourhood. India and US are the 2 great democracies of the world and closer relations are good new. And comparing rampant proliferaters like china and pakistan is just insulting

  • Technical problem with this deal is that it is uranium dependent and we cant shift to thorium in a moments notice, later on. Hence in another 25 years this nuclear deal will be the nucleus of our growth, and U.S. will control the nucleus.Thats, if there is high inflation of food prices world over in future, we will have to export food grains to U.S. or its allies even when our people are starving or else they may revoke the deal on some pretext or other. This are my fears and i hope i am wrong.

  • That is exactly what happened during WW2. All food grains were supplied to the British Army while there were famines in India.

  • I am just very inqusitive to know, how is life in bengal and the growth and development story there? Media paints a very grim picture. Coz bengali's are one of the greatest intellectuals of India, hence this contradicton surprises me.

  • If you get a chance, read India Today's edition on Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

True, industries had stopped due to many reasons:

    1. Millitant Trade Unionism

    2. Jute supplies stopped from Bangladesh, so Jute Mills shut down.

    3. Jyoti Basu opposed Computers but Buddha vigorously supported it.

WB has very small land area, coastline and high population. Yet it is the highest producer of Rice and Fish since quite a few years. There were no farmer suicide unlike Maharashtra, Punjab or Andhra.

  • Recently, Wipro shifted a large portion of it's operations to Kolkata. MBT followed. Kolkata had a huge presence of IBM and PWC since a long time. Russian truck maker Ural is making Army Trucks in WB. Tata will soon roll out the Tata Nano.

In Mumbai, Borivali to Andheri by BEST costs Rs. 10. In Kolkata, you pay around Rs. 6. In either case, most people travel standing.

Food is cheap and the Metro functions even if there are flood on top! Trust me!

  • Also, we have 2 ports, Kolkata and Haldia, the latter posting one of the highest turnovers.

Lower ranks of the Left so have some corruption, but the higher leaders are the cleanest. Even India Today acknowledged that. We have had some insurgency by the Maoists but the Left has never supported violence in the name of communism.

We have a huge immigrant population from the neighbouring states, but others like Gujaratis and Marwaris have contributed a lot towards the economy of the state.

  • Also, I have heard lots of right wing ultra nationalists calling the Left Chinese Agents. You must visit the Andaman. See the Cellular Jail. People who took to violence against British rule were sent there. All the prisoners are recorded. You'll see that around 60% of all the prisoners were Bengalis.

The moot point is that, we don't want India to be at a threat from China. No one in the Left does. But yes, we want to follow the Chinese model by which they have achieved so much success.

  • Hello sir. do you feel the chinese model is sustainable enough? Those Indian business delegates who have visited china say that all is not fine with china. They get everything done at gun point as vacating of land, acquisition of resources, etc.We can post for higher growth if we follow that model, but then we r a democracy.

  • You are correct. Grabbing land at gun-point is not good. Again, this leads to a debate whether which one is the better evil?

Just like whether bribing of MPs in "democratic" India is justified for getting this N-Deal go through.

As I pointed out earlier, in a country where votes can be bought for money, is anything but democracy. I'd rather use the term "Plutocracy".

  • Actually, in the Indian multi-party parliamentary form of democracy, minority rights get amplified. In India parties go to great lengths to garner minority votes. It is a good democratic setup for a developed economy.

In a pseudo-democratic presidential setup like the US where the winning party gets all electoral college votes, a third party only hurts the GOP/Dems whichever it is closer to. That is how Ralph Nader robbed Gore's chances of being Prez, and earlier Ross Perot helped Clinton.

  • It's mostly Hindus and Sikhs, Moslems, too. It's got its share of Buddhists, as well. Chaos is what it is--Slum-dia should be its name.

  • yeah why not change the name of america to ameriCUNT, coz all the world's famous cunts are living there. and you are one of them, i ask again , go and check your history first then open your bloody mouth.

  • Also, I think we need some kind of strong-arm policy to bring up industry and commerce and then gradually move to democracy. No country achieved outright success through democracy. Russia developed after the October Revolution. Britain developed through colonial exploitation. America, through land grabbing from Native Americans and from Slavery.

Today they lecture us on child-labour, skillfully forgetting, that even people like Thomas Alva Edison used to work as a child.

  • please mr moitra...do not conflate Bengalis with communists. Gandhi and Patel were Gujarati, remember... so please start singing praises of Narendrabhai. I am proud of being Indian, I am proud of being Bengali; the only people I am ashamed to call fellow citizens are the CPIM people.

  • Do you sincerely believe Manmohan Singh survived this vote honestly?

Many MPs have been bribed to get their support. Can you name a single MP from the left?

Even India Today said that Left is the least corrupt of all parties.

Just because CPM doesn't take bribes and doesn't indugle in horse trading or doesn't support the rich upper classes does not make them anti-national.

A true patriot is one who thinks for the ENTIRE nation, not only the upper classes or the upper-middle classes.

  • You know what Protik da, I would much rather give up my wallet than be shot by a robber.

Yes, the Left parties are the least corrupt of all. But the question is; do they have any other ulterior motives?

For instance, can I find evidence of treachery and betrayal among Left Parties? The answer to that is a resounding YES.

The BJP and Congress might be teeming with thieves, but at least they are not working for a foreign power against India, are they?

  • The BJP is working for Upper-Caste Hindu Vote Bank.

The Congress is and has always been fighting for their own Swiss Bank Accounts at the cost of the nation and for that they will even ally with the devil and if needed, go against the interests of the country.

The left for their part have done blunders like Unionism and opposition to Computer. But no way are they less patriotic than any other party. They are till date the lest corrupt of all and working for the interests of the masses.

  • All I know is that the Left is the only force that has ever fought and will ever fight for the poor and impoverished. Think of those people in Bihar who are denied help in floods just because they are untouchables. They are left to die.

Such a country shall never become developed and will be defeated again and again. The fact is that we Indians hate our own people. And, the left will continue to help these people, as they always have.

  • The Indian communists may be sympathetic towards the poor, but their means are dead wrong. But it is not as if the constitution does not protect them. We do have a runaway reservation system, don't we? No other country has such an aggressive affirmative action policy.

It is communist China where there is more inequality than India. While China had attained basic literacy, healthcare, the GINI index is higher in China than India. How do you explain it? (GINI index=measure of economic disparity)

  • "All I know is..." is one of the classic lines with which the many communists I know (being Bengali) start their sentences. It sounds like a startlingly frank admission of ignorance, does it not?

As for poverty, don't point to Bihar, point to what 3 decades of Left rule have done to WB. Right now the Left doesn't seem to be on the side of farmers in Nandigram or Singur.

  • Why does the Left always speak disparagingly of India? You REALLY DO HATE INDIA VERY MUCH, DONT YOU? Hell, you are the funny racists who hate their own race.

Every single day, India is piling on the evidence of becoming a larger and larger power. Think of how the WHOLE WORLD just made an exception exclusively for INDIA!! So CORRECTION: COMMUNISTS HATE INDIAN PEOPLE..You should have written: "The fact is we Commies hate our own (Indian) people".

  • "Such a country this...such a country that..." same old communist chatter. What are you proposing mr moitra...that India become like North Korea or become like Cuba? Maybe that is your model of "developed country".

  • Can you in all honesty deny that the Left parties are trying to make India a protectorate of China. Say what you will about US "imperialism", but the US allows a million times more measure of free speech and thought than China does. Please do not advocate that China is a greater agent of freedom than America. With 20 million Chinese people dead in his stomach, the bloody hand of Mao and his minions is now raised towards us in the free world. No we will not give up our free speech rights... NO!

  • Why would the Left want to make India a protectorate of China when CPI(M) has been fighting the Maoists since last 6 years? This is a ridiculous statement.

It is as good as saying the Sun rises from the West.

True US alows more freedom of speech, but they are no less than the Chinese. They have only 2 parties and no other party can exist. They are slightly better than Chinese 1 party system, but all these arguments does not justify US helping Cong bribe MPs to gett their votes.

  • The left does not want to make India a "protectorate" of China. It is nonsense. Yet, the crux of the communist ideology is to make the whole world communist. India to them is just one nation among many whose self interest can be sacrificed at the altar for the worldwide communist movement.

In 1962, Jyoti Basu refused to denounce Chinese aggression on Indian territory, claiming that a socialist nation was incapable of being aggressive!

The 60's CPI(M) slogan: CHINA'S CHAIRMAN IS OUR CHAIRMAN!

  • And finally, one does not have to scream out anti-China statements to prove that he is patriotic. Only the ones who want to hide their treachery are doing this.

India lost her territory to China when India was weak. Now she is strong and will not lose territory. But we must appreciate those actions by the Chinese that have made them so successful. Nothing wrong is praising their economic success. How does that go against the interests of the nation?

  • The Chinese economic success began only after they liberalized in 1978. Their growth is entirely driven by foreign PRIVATE investment, averaging around $50 Billion per year over the last decade. Shanghai today is not exactly the next Bien Dien Phu, but a symbol of capitalism.

Look- I am not praising capitalism. But India is cash strapped, and needs a whopping amount of private (including foreign) investment. We are a developing nation, and we must practice REALPOLITIK, not ideology.

  • I am not even into this patriotism thing. The BJP is an upper-class party, and the Cong(I) sans any ideological moorings. Yet, the CPM is not the solution for India.

Foreign private investment is what we need to improve infrastructure and strengthen our manufacturing base. In order to improve the quality of life for the poor, alas, we will have to rely on trickle-down economics! Egalitarianism can wait until we are a developed economy.

  • commies remind me of pol pot genocide of cambodia, kim father and son duo starving the people of north korea , chinese cultural revolution killing millions, stalin purges, massacares and deportations of millions to die in freezing siberia, chinese imperialism in tibet, etc, etc. Even after all these the commies have the hypocracy to blame the west. commies are brain dead zombies acting as puppets of erstwhile soviets and now pseudo communist capitalist china. commies are india's enemy No.1

  • No no it makes sense to listen to this news debate as in the Nuclear Deal does give India I suppose "More strength to flex its muscles" ..and I feel as it got ratified today in the Indian parliament ..it should make India a power to reckon with globally and regionally. And the best part is that Pakistan will get marginalised.

  • carrot to china and stick to india, that is the policy of prakash karat and co. commies are the biggest enemies of india. commies in india should learn a lesson from the nationalist commies of china. chinese commies conquer tibet and continue to justify it. shame on indian commies who back stab their own country on china's instructions.

  • Go for the deal i say. India will gain a lot from it. Sure there is some risk but it's worth it. And the jealousy of Pakistan is just natural.Poor buggers.LOL

  • that paki whore should goo and get some dick what the hell is she doing there

  • You can clearly see the fear in her eyes. LOL, India scares the hell out of Pakiz.

  • Well said, India is well off as an excluded N power, than as an included N power. Surely, India doesn't have much to gain from this deal!

  • your comments are backed with pragmatic and technical thinking, rather than wishful and emotional thinking. I honestly appreciate that, a rare trait in indians.

  • As a matter of fact, US asked India to send troops to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban. Good that India refused. First, they called Osama a freedom fighter because he was fighting the Soviets; now they call him a terrorist, because he blew up the WTC. US always messes up and looks for new partners to supports it's wrong doings. India has nothing to gain by allying with a country that goes on invading other countries (Iraq, Serbia) without the approval of the UN.

  • Hey u fuckin commie ...entering this deal gives India a global exposure and it can have relations with all of the NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Group) it is not bound to have relations only with the US...US is only the facilitator of the deal get it? ..India can get technology and infrastructure from any country it wishes to...So stop your bullshit about US's attitude and all ..and dont 4get when indians were starving it was the Americans who provided Indians the grains! in the 1960s

  • The US created NSG to punish India. Now they want to stifle India into a Non-Nuclear Status. If they like India so much, why don't they treat India like they treat China?

Just like the British collaborated with the Nawabs and Rajas to rule the masses, elitist morons like you are celebrating this deal. Lots of money flowed from USA to buy MPs to support this deal. As long as we have traitors like you, we will have to anticipate the re-colonisation of India.

  • U said "Y don't they treat India like they treat China?" U must be seriously foolish to not read and understand the things between the lines The US wants India to grow and develop so as to counter the growth of China and this deal is a part of that strategy And if this were an elitist opinion then y the hell would most of the political parties except for the BSP and ur very dear LEFT would support this deal even the characterless BJP supports it their only grudge was they were not able to ink it

  • My political position regardless, I supported the 1998 N Tests by BJP that the Left opposed. But now, horse-trading was done to win the vote and the money came from US.

We knew Dr. Singh was an economist-turned-politician. Now we know he is an economist-turned-corrupt-politician. Left never said no to N power. They opposed it based on Hyde Act and 123 Agreement. BJP is characterless? LOL - Congress licked USSRs ass in the past, now it is licking USAs ass. At least BJP and Left have ideals.

  • Your political position also looks like the Characterless BJP and LEFT who with no similarity in their ideologies still joined hands to simply topple to govt.& out of this the BJP emerges to be more characterless one becuz at least the Left were adamant abt their anti-US stand and talking abt ideals what ideals does the BJP follow? be it '88,'92 or the advani-jinah incident ..if these are their ideals then it surely will take india into a gutter where moths like u reside!

  • The Left and BJP joined hands? They both opposed the the deal does not mean they joined hands.

It is like saying since USA and USSR fought against the Germans in WW2, they joined hands, which they clearly did not.

It is because of parasites like you that India became a British colony. You people are well fed, so let the imperialists exploit the poor. Even with all the outsourcing, we still have farmer suicides. It is people like you who let our enemies suck our blood - traitors.

  • It is a problem living with people like u and thats y there are road blocks in path of this country's development YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE EXTERMINATED BECAUSE U LIVE IN A CONSTANT STATE OF EUPHORIA ABOUT COLONIZATION AND SHIT GET OUT OF IT STILL PPL LIKE U CANNOT DO ANY HARM TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS NATION AS IT WAS PROVEN YESTERDAY! FORTUNATELY THERE ARE'NT MANY PPL LIKE U IN THIS COUNTRY AND THATS Y THIS COUNTRY HAS A FUTURE! YOU ARE THE REAL ENEMY OF THIS COUNTRY U ECHO THE VOICE OF PAKISTAN!

  • A lot of our upper class "patriots" simply are looking out for their own good. Farmers are committing suicide, agriculture is not growing as much as it should, and disparity is widening. Yet look at the flip side-India is one of the fastest growing economies, literacy rates are rising higher than before liberalization began, poverty is declining quite fast.

The communists have never done anything right, and they are no panacea for India's woes.

  • you are quite right. our people have to understand dynamics of international politics before the cast their view.Every indian is rejoicing as if each one is going to get 25 crores 2moro.

  • Exactly. No one denies that we need more power for the growing econoomy, but we need to throw caution in the winds and give time for debate regarding what price we are/will be paying to get access to Uranium.

  • If i may ask, are you from calcutta?

  • Yes Sir, I am from Calcutta, but I have lived in Bihar (2 yrs), Orissa (4.5 yrs), Kerala (2 mths) and Maharashtra (2.5 yrs) and visited almost all of India. I have seen lives of common men and met people of different cultures. Right now I am in North Carolina, USA.

  • The US wants India to grow? Fine. Let them recognise India as a N power and let them remove NSG restrictions on Uranium supplies to India, since they are the ones who created NSG.

Will the US ever do that? You know the answer as much as I do.

Also, N power will not satisfy all our needs. We cannot fit N reactors in cars and bikes. We need oil. What will India gain by antagonising oil rich Iran, the only Muslim country who supported India during UN Kashmir Human Rights voting?

  • and wat u term as asslicking is something more commonly known among the knowledgeable ppl as GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP!

  • I agree that we should remain friends with Iran and that the US would ideally like India to be under a leash. However, this deal is in India's best interest.

India is energy starved and needs as much power as it can get, including nuclear power. We need uranium. Period.

However, the deal is not simply about uranium, but also legitimization of India's nuclear weapons. The NPT would be replaced with the GNEP some day. India needs to get in as a supplier nation with reprocessing rights.

  • Please see what BBC, one of the most respected and non-communist news media says about this Trust Vote by our PM:

    "India media condemns vote 'taint'"

    "Making a hash of democracy"

    "Pyrrhic victory"

Agree or not, Congress has won the trust vote and lost the trust of the people of India.

Nothing can be more blatant proof that democracy has been sabotaged by the power of Amercian money from the capitalist and profiteering companies who want to sell N-tech to India.

  • The money which was brought in the parliament by the BJP MPs was from advani's toilet!!

  • Yeah, no better logic can come out of your cowdung-filled head. Go celebrate with your shameless Congress, maybe you will get a share of the 25 crore that each MP got from Congress.

  • Sure ..U eat ur rice and fish and be happy! ..u fecal head!

  • Sure, you must have been Advani's toilet cleaner that you discovered money in there - you shitheat!

  • The money was discovered by those MPs when they came to clean advani's toilet..oh just forgot after Advani finished humping u in the ass with a Strap-on..hahahahaha

  • I dont care about the bribing that went on to win the trust vote. I just want India to have enough electric power for the future and enough nuclear weapons to keep its enemies at bait. This deal will see India come on the world stage as an important player and help push its claim to a Permanent seat in the UNSC. The Left is best left behind. Manmohan Singh has put his entire image and legacy on the line to win this vote. He is a visionary leader and India must trust him.

  • If India becomes a permanent member of UNSC, I will be the happiest man.

However, I will NEVER support this bribing of MPs to get votes in the Parliament. Whoever tarnishes the sanctity of our parliament with American Dollars is a clear cut traitor who should be tried for treason and expelled from the country.

You have your right to disagree with me regarding the deal, but you have no right to support bribing of MPs to get votes. Just ask your conscience.

  • Its not about conscience, its about India's image in the world. Manmohan Singh and Bush have come up with very good strategies to convince the world of this deal, and if the deal had got scuppered it would have been a major embarrassment for India in the world stage. We should stop obsessing about antagonizing Iran and losing out on its oil contracts. This is about long term energy security. All stops had to be pulled out to counter the parochial attitude of the Left.

  • I agree this would have been an embarrassment but now just see what BBC says about the trust vote. Tell me if that is not embarrassing. If the deal failed, Dr. Singh would have been embarrassed, but now, Indian democracy has been embarrassed.

  • I would say its was the lesser of the two evils. Atleast now we shall have enough energy to function as a democracy. As long as we have unscrupulous politicians who are casteist, regionalist, communalist and convicted murderers, such situations will keep occurring. Atleast in this case let us be thankful that there is a tangible greater good on the horizon for the country.

  • I largely agree with what you said.

I only hope we maintain our autonomy and do not become like UK, which follows USA wherever it goes like a bleating lamb without having a voice or opinion of it's own.

  • All stops had to be pulled out to counter the parochial attitude of the Left. - so you are saying even bribing is justified to stop the Left? Well then I think there is no sense of justice in calling ourselves democratic. Probably Left is the only party left with any moral right to rule India.

The fact that Congress said that they will enact a law to counter the effects of Hyde Act proves that this deal was biased.

  • China and Russia have woken up to a globalised world and have realised that sequestering themselves in outdated ideologies will not work for their countries. The Left parties in India are living in a state of self denial by assuming that they are the ideological successors of Marx, Stalin and Mao. I have no respect to their obstructionist attitude and outmoded policies. If they believe that Manmohan is offering India's security to the US on a platter, they have to get their head examined.

  • Even I do not agree with all of Lefts policies like militant unionism or past opposition to computers. But again, let me point out that since Dr. Singh started liberalisation, the economy has improved but per capita food consumption has decreased, outsouricng has made some people rich while farmers have commited suicide (except in Left ruled states). Sorry to say, US is a crumbling power, and it is stupid to align with a crumbling power.

  • The really good thing about the nuclear deal is, even if the US congress rejects it but the IAEA and NSG approve it, then India can deal with EVERY other nuclear power. India can easily source entire reactors, not just the fuel, from France or Russia who are already eager to tap into the Indian energy market. It doesnt matter if the US is crumbling; there are no economic stings attached with this deal.

  • I am seriously hoping for US Congress rejection so that they cannot abruptly stop supplies of infrastructure like they suddenly stopped fuel supply to Tarapur in the past (1980s).

Just imagine if India started building a US designed plant and they suddenly stopped supplies of plant equipment, we would be in great loss. And we all know the US has done such mischief in the past.

  • If the US does such a thing, it will be the biggest loser. Even if India conducts nuclear tests and the US decides to scrap the deal and stop all nuclear trade with India, there will always be Russia to go to. With this deal Russia and France can ship ready-to-use reactors to India. the international community is awestruck as to how India managed to get away with so much despite being an non-signatory of the NPT. I have faith in our democracy to tackle any such adverse situations in the future.

  • I agree to what you said. I know, we all love our country and we have different approach to see our country become a superpower. It's just that I want India to be free of unemployment, malnutrition, illiteracy and wary of taking risks especially with the USA, since they are known to have practised anti-India policies in the past.

I just can't tolerate people who support this bribing of MPs and yet claim that commies are Chinese agents. What hypocrisy.

  • u.s policies were guided by the cold war and there were other issues involved. however politics is guided by realism and the u.s and india have far too much in commmon to neglect the prospects that could arise from a grand economic and strategic alliance

  • And the reality, in my opinion, is that the US is a crumbling power, and India should not get into any strategic alliance with US. Let there be no misunderstanding, we need Nuclear Power. My opposition is not to Nuclear Power but to the strategic alliance with the US.

  • Regarding Russia, they followed IMF guidelines which only led to the complete collapse of the economy. Only when Putin brought back Soviet style economic controls, the country stood up.

Dr. Singh is an ex-IMF man, and although I respect him as a person, I have no trust in his policies. I know what IMF thinks sometimes leads to disaster. Dr. Singh has to think outside the IMF framework, which I doubt he can.

  • It is the same Americans (Nixon) who told Indira Gandhi that USA will stop grain suppies to India is India attacked Pakistan - (1971-72) and they were the (pardon me) "fucking" commies from USSR who saved India from a definite American aggression. Learn history yourself idiot and stop being a moron. We all know you are an elitist lackey of the US who does not know the real condition and needs of India.

  • No, they in fact wanted India to send troops to Iraq, not Afghanistan. In fact the US preferred a low-key Indian role in Afghanistan as that would have antagonized Musharraf.

US is undoubtedly an unscrupulous global hegemon, but India has a lot to gain by aligning itself with it, such as space technology, a permanent UNSC seat, inclusion in G-8, containment of China, etc.

As Disraeli once said, in politics there are no permanent allies, no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

  • The so called pro-deal young are ignorant of history and US attitude towards it's allies. They are jumping to conclusion by virtue of their adrenaline, not by virtue of their brain. Of course, corporate houses in India are supporting this deal because all they want is money through business and least bothered about India independence. Didn't the Infosys chief Narayana Murthy ask the RBI to make the Rupee weak when it gained against the US dollar? Bunch of selfish capitalists!

  • India already has 200 nukes to bomb the shit out, as far as Europe and Australia. We don't need new supplies to produce weapons !! Aljazeera is a pro middle east, arab, gulf pecker heads !! hey, who gives a shit about your opinion !!

  • She is clueless!!!!!

    Go read something....

  • pakistani is jealous

  • I dont understand this garbage term 'double standards'. What idiots! Of course there are double standards! China, Pakistan and Iran are evil dictatorships, while India and Israel are democracies. WHy should there be similar standards between those two groups? I am a big fan of discimination: there SHOULD always be discrimination in favor of dictatorships.

  • Sorry I meant there should always be discrimination AGAINST dictatorships and in favor of democracies.

RAISE A TOAST, let's all drink to DOUBLE STANDARDS!

  • Oh, man, US relationship is bad now.

  • Dumb fools... India doesn't recognize NPT treaty.. If you do not recognize it, it doesn't exist.. If it doesn't exist, you do not sign it in air. Only 5 countries officially never signed the treaty... India, Pakistan (india's fellowship), Israel, South Africa, and Brazil.. Among 5, South Africa, and Brazil signed it later on.. India will never sign the treaty, unless, and until it be made the exceptional member of NPT like 5 other countries namely USA, China, France, UK and Russia.

  • Absolutely right. NPT is 'DISCRIMINATORY'. Why in the hell should India sign it?

Do the deal with us or go away. We are not dependent on anyone. We choose our own way.

  • GR8 piece...

    Thanks,
