From what I was able to make out of the footage, that was NOT John Parker, but El Fabuloso, who would later ref games for Griffiths as well as briefly being GM of the figure-8 era's Hot Flash.
This footage was the T-Birds v. then NY Bombers. Griffiths would relocate the Bombers to the Bay Area, becoming the Golden State Bombers in the process, a move that really pissed off then-IRSL/SF Bay Bombers owner Dave Lipschultz so much so that he contemplated relocating the NE Braves back to LA or forming an LA T-Bolts team to get back at Bill Sr.!
I used to love watching the LA T-Birds!! Ronnie Rains and Sam "the Man" Washington were my favorites. We used to skate in the street and pretend we were the T-Birds! I also liked Sally Vega (I think her name was?). The women were awesome!!
I loved Skinny Minnie (Gwen Miller)She was my favorite of the T-Birds Women's team, with Randi Whitman right behind her.
I've got 3 episode with Skinny in action. I even have the all-star game in which Skinny Minnie and Lady D (Donna Young) threw Sweet Stephanie Garcia off the track. That was an awesome moment! But I felt sorry for Steph though. There's no way that wouldn't have hurt!
Yea he was good but Sam "The Man" Washington was the star of the team. I rank them Washington, Rains, and Ron Johnson (jammer) Women's team Gewn Miller was the star and Donna Young, her back up.
Ronnie Rains henchman, "Jumping " Charlie Mitchell , broke my collar bone during a training school game in 1971. Charlie threw me off the track and into the front row. I almost landed ontop of Rains who was sitting in the front row with his wife Colleen and his small dog. LOL...........Memories........
Ronnie was a very nice person to talk with and good to us rookies. Most games I skated in for the LA-T-Birds, Ronnie was skaking out of the country. He was one of the best.
who is the fat manager guy in these videos?

Ronnie was the greatest skater in the sport. And then you throw in the "psyco" he was a great entertainer.

Frankly, I like to pretend that any and all events in T-Bird history after Ronnie left never happened. The dude WAS roller derby in his era.
