Profits are calculated from a ratio of money paid out over money brought in- premiums. The way to make profits really big is to deny coverage (less money out) / raising premiums (more money in). See, easy. Shareholders are happy- they buy more stock. Rinse, repeat. Gauranteed: your premiums will go up about 10% a year without the gov't slappping their wrists. Endofstory.

Sorry, Netherlands (a.k.a. Holland) is not Denmark. I lived in Tilberg. Their system is fairly simple, everyone is required to purchase insurance from highly-regulated private providers. They describe it as "private health insurance with social conditions". Insurers are tightly regulated for quality, provision of basic services, and to prevent discrimination, as they are required to accept everyone in their coverage area at a flat rate, no matter what their health status.

Have you read the bill? I have & freedom of choice is being taken away. You are not allowed to choose the HC plan you want. Buying private ins, will be illegal. In 4 yrs health savings accts. are illegal. Americans will no longer be able to work with their doc on their own health care. Choices will be made by Obama's health commissioner. This is an outrage!! Also, once govt. takes over, they will have to the power to tell you what you can & cannot do since everything centers around your health.

Not only have I read a good portion of it but I have talked to 3 congressmen of both parties. You can grandfather your own plan in but if you lose it, you are allowed to buy from the govt. exchange. In 4 years my health savings account will not be allowed. If I am wrong then please explain why both dems and GOP agree? Also, I have been on govt. health care in the UK, France and Belgium - there is rationing for elderly based on a formula. Such a shame - the USA did have the best HC in the World

Also, I failed to mention the billions of $ in new taxes for businesses & private people. Ins. prem. are gong to go up quite a bit which means the entire idea behind "reform" did not happen. I agree that people should take some of the time that they have to try and read the bills that are proposed, but in this case we have ~2000 pages of tortured legal language (purposeful?) and only 72 hours to stop it. Whether or not Hannity said it the right way, the point is that all of the protests that occurred in August were ignored; they said they would take certain things out and yet there they are, still in the bill. The bill needs to be stopped.
