This just means the fathers that left will have some sort of a relationship with their children NOT that more blacks stay int he home and raise their children.

However, I would take it one step further which is if the man or woman wants to have a baby with the other, then don`t just hop in bed with them, 1st discuss it w/the other b/c feelings may not be mutual or life circumstances may not be right for the other to have a baby at that time (financial problems, personal or family problems need to be straightened out first, an illness, etc.). Responsibility begins before conception.

My mother & father were married for 23 years and have been separated since before I was even born! My dad left to Virginia and hasn't done anything for none of his 8 kids that he has with my mom. He left her to raise us all on her own. Now he feels bad because none of his children wants to deal with him. You just conflated a whole host of issues that were irrelevant to Obama's comments. The words of obama and cosby are far more nuanced than you'd like to give them credit for. They carefully recognize the very real social factors that are out of the black father's control, but also suggest that there is a great capacity for black fathers to assume responsibility for what is in their control. I don't know why you have to imply that obama is placing all the blame on black fathers.
