  • Wow. My school is performing in Disney, and we're singing this. We're just starting to learn it. I hope we sound this amazing.

  • @TheMe1799 I'm sure you and your school will do beautifully! <3

  • love this song! did it at my school, and i like this tempo!

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Yay! We are doing this for state contest on saturday. We are an all womens choir though.

  • Excellent performance! Congratulations, even if it comes a bit late! Very impressive musicianship for any choir, never mind that this is a high school choir!

  • my choir has to sing this for a competition c:

  • Nice!

  • I remember singing this with the Fisk university Jubilee singers..... good job... I forgot who arranged this....

  • this is good (:

  • very much enjoy this one. even from the angle we see the director she is clear and precise very easy to follow with her direction. you all did a wonderful job!

  • my choir is doing this song as well as an all girls choir, we are doing it at about this pace too. i hope we can sound this good!!

  • I like the faster pace very much! I wish my chorus was performing it faster than it's written as : /

  • I really like how you all performed this. My choir performed this and we did a much slower tempo but I like the way your Director made this sound! Very well done!

  • dynamics are wonderful

  • dude the whole burning thing i love it dont cahng A THING!!!!!!!kk have fun

  • This is the best version of this song on all of you-tube. Kudos.

  • I like the dresses!

  • My only suggestions for improvement is that you drop the G's in burning and make it burnin'. It gives it a more authentic, spiritual feeling. Having crisper, harder consonants will add a to the overall genuine "feel" of the piece. The "k" in keep, the "c" in Christian journey, the "s" in soon, etc.

As far a talent, you all are great!

  • I think you guys did a fantastic job. I sang this song last year in summer choir at my church and absolutely loved it. Great job.

  • All due respect to you and your talented choir, I worked on this piece at a clinic in 2005 with the arranger, Dr. André Thomas, and he took it much, much slower. A more languid tempo allows for the ATB crescendos and decrescendos during the soprano solo to be more pronounced, and gives the descending bass rubato ("weary children") a chance to shine. Other than that, this was a great performance of the song.

  • Incredible. We did this piece back in high school madrigals and i always loved it. Your Dynamics and Diction were excellent and this tempo was perfect for it.

  • The Tempo was Perfect, however, it should have been conducted in 2 to capture the feeling of slowness to not show that the conductor is working too much

    Otherwise, PERFECT TEMPO!!!

  • I was looking for the Jorma Kaukonen song "Keep your lamps trimmed" and found this. WOW really good stuff actually. Very Impressed :D Much love

  • thank you for posting this video.. i have to learn this song all my myself to get into the very tip top choir at my high school and i had no idea where to start.. but now i know how it is suppose to sound.. thank you! they are great by the way!

  • anybody has got a lirycs with this song? i would like to get it pls sombody!!!!!

  • it like singing over and over

my school the 1 part sing like u guys and other sang like this

keep ur keep ur lamp keep ur lamp trimmed and burn keep ur lamp trimmed and burning

  • I love this song! Our 8th grade class is singing this FOR ANDRE THOMAS the composer. I can't wait! We're going to sing this song to him.

  • this is very excellent!! my conductor decided to do it much slower to emphasize the "weight" and "struggle" in the song. but i really enjoyed this too!! but your dynamics were much like ours. awesome job!

  • Is this Ruston High School ?

  • No, this is PHN High School.

  • This is what my high school choir last year did; exactly as you guys did. Beautiful job!

  • that was beautiful

  • I love the crescendos, this is a pretty good choir, my choir is singing this too

  • my high school is talented

  • Gorgeous! I think I spelled that wrong...

  • beautiful dresses. i like how you did this song. i like it with the bass. the choir thats doing this at my school is all girls.

  • im singing this bonse aba, shiru, and duct tape for my 8th chior... This is really good!!!

  • I personally love this version of the song and i think the group did a great job! Beautiful! = )

  • our chamber choir sung this my senior year.

  • my freshman choir did this last year. our conductor chose to make the vowels longer and less choppy even though it wasn't written like that. other that that we did the exact same thing as you. we got rave reviews. my high school is very musically talented.

  • me and my 8th grade choir are singing this right now.. but we are so not this good. haha for the fact were only 13 and none of the guys try.

  • love the dynamics :) beautiful choir :) my school's doing it quite a bit slower, but your conductor's interpretation is beautiful.

  • I think the dynamics in this piece are wonderful and that you guys preformed it beautifully, although my personal taste is that it is slowed down a bit, it is still great! nice job

  • Wow your conductor reminds me so much of mine. Even her hand movements are the same lol

  • One of my favorite songs. I love it. We sing it about the same pace except a little slower at the keep your lamps trimmed and burning part. But this was really good!

  • the guys sound sooo cool!!!

  • wow this is really good my church choir is singing this and i love this song

  • I WILL remove any hateful comments about our Conductor. She is a wonderful person, and was the only reason why myself, and many others enjoyed High School. She's done so much for us.

  • i love this piece

  • I think singing it at that pace really kills the spirit of the song.

  • Same tempo my choir sang it at, I like it a lott.

  • wow we sang tht this year in chior and we sang it alot slower..but its kool to here it fast.!

  • I like this song my only problem with it is that it is way to easy to get lost all there are is a bunch of repeats.

  • where are the altos?

  • we are singin this right now

  • /watch?v=n0-4Ts_mMes&NR=1

  • we r doing dis for our spring conert, slightly faster and with a rele loud piano.. but great job

  • their dynamics are great!!

the get in "children dont get weary" sounds too american though.

  • Comment removed

  • we do ours with the piano. and we do "tis you that are the music" and "non Nobis Domine"

  • We are doing this song in choior exceppt for we say soon this journey will be over....lol

  • hey me too

  • Yea thats what we say too.

and we don't do them all togeather.

  • we are doing this song for our spring concert...

  • at my school in my honor choir we did this song but we did it differently and there was only soprano and alto there was no bass or tenor so i had to sing alto (im a tenor) and we also sang Cantate Hodie OH and the christian journey soon be over we didnt do that part.... GREAT VIDEO THOUGH!! lol sry i talk alot! The ending was FANTASTIC the Crecsendo and then Decrecsendo! AWESOME!!!

  • Actually, it's kinda slow. Good though :)

  • this was soooo beautifully perfect i mean the pronounciation was amazing! and the crecendo and thhe decrecendo at the end was omg gave me chills!!

  • This is good :) Btw Below me: just a friendly correction it's Crescendo and Decrescendo :)

  • I was in the Soprano 2 part. That's why I was asking. We didn't have guys singing with us, it was just us by ourselves.

We did this song sort of faster.

  • ...i dont think that this song is too fast at all. It seems to strike a good balance between the urgency of the song with the desire to always sing a capella music slowly.

i'd do it at this tempo.

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Is there Soprano 2? I don't hear them.

  • No there isn't a soprano 2 part

  • i sang this song and choir. I loved singing it =D

  • good but way too fast

  • OMG I loved the dynamics!! But its such a beautiful song. I think its a bit too fast. :/ But I do like it a lot. :D

  • You guys are really good.

  • I song when I went to school with my choir

  • this was fricken awesome =]

im in an audition choir too..

    not half as good..

it just sounds like the whole choir is vocally fighting the other parts the whole time..

i have always been so in to music, i love it.

i swear if my choir was half this good..

    *sigh*

  • i am singing this for a concert soon i love it

  • WOOT!

  • The tempo seems way to fast but i love the dynamics

  • The ending sent chills up and down my spine. Very nicely done.

  • I sang this song in a choir once... AMAZING.

  • Wonderful dynamics. Very well done.

  • Hells Yes!!!
