  • i have the fake one damn

  • ha I'm surprised all the chip labels aren't sanded off.

  • This things is evil. Modeled after a Japanese mega drive 2. Evil thats just evil.

What an insult. Now the shitty clones almost look dead on the real thing.

  • Try messing around with all the switches.

  • I have this console but my Megadrive 2 don't have the SEGA logo

  • this piece of shit also made its way to Pakistan.

  • You should try to get it working then make a mini case and have a mini megadrive

  • I am Russian and i play this shit!

  • might need to replace the power jack on the back

  • This is what every kid here had in the 90's. It even came in weird colours like yellow and purple. This brings back so many memories, i am so high on nostalgia atm lol

  • I want one :P

  • made in china with love and lead.

  • I had this clone equipped with almost 100 games in it, i remember that it was like the PAL genesis

  • Powers on, but black screen. sounds like its not reading the cartridge. How my old SNES was when putting a dirty cartridge in it. would power on but be black. so maybe something wrong with the chip that deals with cartridge decoding. I say that because after 2 owners im sure one of you cleaned the cartridge contacts with alcohol. :P but thats just my guess seeing how it powers on.

  • I will buy one :D

  • i found out it you reflow it man by the same as Xboxs rrod man it could be the GPU i think i got one it worked but packed in but i found out it was a power chip was faulty

    Merry xmas

  • if i was you i would try to replace the ribbon cables. just take them off an run some normal wire nothing special but keep the same gage if you can

  • That looks like one of those multi console clones but with only the genesis side.

  • The day it came out I got it

  • Interesting clone, it's a shame you weren't able to get it to work.

  • I got one of these. Without fake expansion bay. Friend gave it away. Needed to replace cheap switches, and it works now, it had random resets earlier (bad reset button). Mine looks even cheaper inside, and doesn't have fake serial numbers and so on. But controlers are broken- directionals dont have all directions anymore. And video output is not sending any signal for some reason, only bad rf video. Yours may be not getting correct power on board, or bad caps on it. Check voltage reg output.

  • Id say take out all the old circuitry and put in a mega drive. It looks like the case still has the same mounting holes. Then maybe see about wiring in some kind of multicart like the Everdrive Flash Cart, or a streamlined sega cd just for a fun little project ;D

Then maybe if you can fix the generic circuits you can install them in one of your game gears! ;]

  • looks like its working just like i would expect something from China to be working

  • Cool Video.. The clone actually looks pretty cool.

  • High Grade Multipurpose Use, I think all objects fall under that description if you intend to hit people with them. ^_^ From what others are saying it was common in Russia, I'd say it would be better to have a knockoff Mega Drive than not have one at all. Nice bit of history you got there, I hope you can get it running some day. :)

  • @TheBladeJunker In Soviet Russia, High Grade Multipurpose Use clone console plays YOU!

Sorry, I couldn't resist, heheh XD

  • @RetroGameTech Pfff...Sega Mega Drive is still popular in Russia. When I was 5 (10 years ago) my parents gifted to me "Sega Simba", Mega Drive in PSX like shell, it worked good and even had region switcher! :D

  • It failed the smell test!

  • id love to see what those switches do

  • Why China.... Why? -_-

  • Cool!, it's got the SM801 ASIC...You can try by the replacing the on board rams, but the may be more expensive than the unit itself ;) ...

  • I had that, the same one it's a famiclone, NES-on-a-chip. You can still buy them new here in china shops (in Serbia). They are common here....

  • the "high grade multipurpose use" is referring to the "high definition graphics" on the genesis.

  • i think this might have been licensed by sega in another country.

  • yeah, vovan 145 is right, there were quite a lot of these units in the post soviet contries in mid 90's. but i don't think it's a bad thing that not many could actually own the original megadrive. after all, the only adventage of the original over the fake is that it has slot for connecting it to mega cd. but, from other hand, even some fake ones(early revisions) had that slot, plus they don't have region lock, usually, so you can play games from any region.

  • Very cool mate, there's loads and loads of those clone systems about, there's a guy on here who collects them (can't remember his name though). Real shame you can't get it running but still a cool item to own :)

  • In my country you can buy that consol brand new for about 10 pounds. :)

  • Quite interesting really how little there was parts inside it.

  • hope you get it working man! I got a Famicom clone a few weeks back, and luckily it worked. Its amazing the effort they went to to print all the Sega logos as well as embossing the Sega logo on the underside......

  • retro, did you know you were buying a fake console? who manufactures the fake systems?

  • Check the capacitors but also check the voltage regulator on the left side of the circuit board.

  • In Russia all people played in that fake:(

  • The drawing of the sega megadrive on the bootleg power supply made made laugh uncontrollably.

  • I wonder if those fake megadrives suffer from that annoying jail bar affect you get on the video out using rgb.....

  • You know what, we used to own a Modified Nintendo Famicon that was from the Saudi Arabia. It has 108 games on it and they all work in great condition. Too bad it's not working anymore.

  • i REALLY want to know what the switches do! a friend of mine has the civilisation game but i dont think its the actual cartridge, maybe a rom. let me check for you. keep up the cool videos!

  • @digitalblasphemy1100 presumably, it's region switches. tho, usually, there're on the bottom of console, not inside of it.

  • That's really an impressive looking clone. Genesis/MegaDrive on a chip?

  • Every time you flicked that switch Martin, a man in China had his lights go off and on. I reckon you send it back to China. Better yet, go over there and shake it in the face of President Hu Jintao. Then we can all await your next videoh... sorry Martin..oh God I got that wrong. Oh well, we won't forget you Martin: Capitalist, Pig, Dog, Nerd, Spy! (I'd write but really, the censorship would have you receiving a letter with: ---Martin----Lake) Byeee

  • Take out the boards and look for burned spots.. brownish areas and if u have a multitester you could try and track down the bad paths

  • That signal crystal looks like it's almost out. You mite try to solder it back down better.

  • I wonder if the smell is any indication of the toxicity level of the plastic! Egad!

  • Really enjoyed the vid

  • Try changing out the capacitors.

  • is that a black hd dvd drive?

  • i like when u make videos like this. c what chinas latest scam is to get some money

  • When I was a kid, I had one game, Columns II, that said "Mega Drive" on the front, which confused the hell out of me because it was clearly a Sega Genesis game. It also had the game's description blurb written on the back of it in like 6 different languages.

  • @ZrazorRozenstrauch European versions of the games (& system) are called Mega drive & they often have multiple language text on because E.U uses the same carts (PAL)

  • @paulspydar Yeah, I know that now, but it confused the hell out of me when I was 8.

  • wow thats crazy! lol!

i love how you have the black version of all the consoles.. your set you looks so neat! : )

  • Is this the one with "100" games inside, which turn out to be just three?

  • 1st and great video
