  • Isn't reversed music meant to be creepy, haunting and disturbing? Why is this so beautiful?! D:

  • I've done a trance mashup mix of this tune. Please have a listen and rate it, I'd love some more feedback. its called feel for an ending, the dj harn mashup mix. Youll find it on here.

  • Wow, the normal version gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it; this nearly brought tears to my eyes. Amazing.

  • It sounds fantastic!

  • they should call this "A Beginning (Descent)"!

  • god imagine what eno himself thought when he played this backwards for the first time and heard what we usually think of when we hear "An Ending" :-) probably just as amazed and impressed as we are now although he is a modest person to be honest lol

  • Wow! Great work, actually sounds like it could have been part of the final Apollo cut :)

  • Sounds really magical and beautiful too, but it is not as good as the original one.

  • Nice.....but cant beat the original

  • @pennillion Of course it can`t beat the original...what where you thinking when you wrote this?

  • @StFinxs i was thinking its nice, but it cant beat the original......what on earth do you think i was thinking

  • @pennillion You`ve got the right answer to my stupid question...so sorry :)

  • @StFinxs don't be sorry mate....everything is cool :) backwards or forwards, i think we all agree its an excellent piece of music :)

  • @pennillion: This doesn't appear to be a competition.

  • @1Geronimodeleon What are you on about....WHAT competition.

Will people stop reading things into what i first said

I like it but not as much as the original....thats it....full stop....no big deal.

  • @pennillion: Guess it was the word "beat" that implied competition...

Liking something more is legitimate, whether it's the original or the interpretation/arrangement.

I like both, though I "cut my teeth" on the original.

  • This will always be a peerless piece of music for me. I have loved it since I first heard it in 1983 and all this time never had any idea it was reversed. This version sounds great too.

  • Well, I must be the dumbest of all because I did not know this was a reversed track and I have been listening to and enjoying it for many many years. The reversed version is so much better.

Oh and for anyone wanting this "unreversed" version, get an mp3 or rip your CD track to WAV and reverse it with SoundForge. Do not bother downloading youtube audio...

  • This is what the song is actually suposse to soundlike.

  • @Benlikesgirls: not to put words in Eno's mouth, but consistent with his practice I'd say he'd acknowledge numerous possibilities for this tune, and others.

  • when it first started it sounded like a slow version of world in union

  • What?! This sounds like such a pretentious thing to say because you wouldve thought itd be pretty much just as good backwards being an ambient song and it does indeed sound nice, however it somehow manages to be a mush of nice sounds instead of a really great song.

  • great minds think alike, i did not think to reverse this beautiful piece of music though. i have however reversed ub40 kingston town and that sounds nice even thought there is lyrics.

    GOOD JOB DARTHLUDA *****

  • oh my God this is absolutely beautiful music

  • simply sensational.

  • Amazing. Thank you

  • Equally as beautiful. Thanks for this

  • I wish I could get an MP3 of this song reversed like this...it is as beautiful as the original

  • Just google "extract sound from youtube" and you'll find several websites that allows you to rip the sound from any youtube video and save it as an mp3 file.

If that doesn't work, just download audacity (studio program), import the original song and reverse it and save it.

  • This made me shiver.. It's just as beautiful as the common version.....

  • This is amazing DarthLuda. Mindblowing. Thank you,

  • If you listen with both the reversed and the normal song at the same time, the synergy of the ascending and descending chords is sublime.

  • Sounds like a whole new song. Thank You.

    5/5

  • This has been my favourite song for nearly 6 years now and only after I watched this did it finally dawn on me that it was reversed. The whole thing makes more sense musically this way, and you can even hear the chord changes that blend seamlessly when reversed.

    Many thanks.

  • Thanks for this

  • Thanks for this post and insight. I knew that he would often reverse things but was not aware of this one. I will throw mine into Audasity and treat myself to this revelation.

  • Cheers DarthLuda. Its wierd hearin it that way round but just as relaxing.

  • i hear the devil strange backwards

  • Excellent! Thank you.

  • Of course that only works on the mixed down file :oP

  • I recommend anyone recording their jams on softsynths such as Fruityloops Poizone or Sytrus play their sessions backwards, always very rewarding.

  • Would love an mp3 of this???

  • That is just cool! thanks for posting.

  • Didn't know it was created by reversing, but it's interesting how it turned even better that way. Altho, I gotta say, this version is pretty damn near as dreamy.
