This one is actually caught the right way. I think this should be the only way to catch tuna. Not using fishing nets, only using a rod, right hook methods, weight of fish. Its just right.

This is sportfishing. Japan has an enormous market for fish of many types. If Japan mostly did their fishing in this manner then there would be no overfishing. Unfortunately they use large fishing vessels utilizing various methods to pull out large amounts of fish for profit. I was excited for Hiroki Matsukata. He did not go out to just collect a stupid amount of fish. He also did not wasted the meat. It was surely all eaten. There was no by catch either and that's good!

This one is actually caught the right way. I think this should be the only way to catch tuna. Not using fishing nets, only using a rod, right hook methods, weight of fish. Its just right.
The wrong thing would have been to catch small specimen with fish nets, or transferring them to a farming facility and farming it bigger.. So this is a good example of HOW to fish tuna.

Im sorry but there are not plenty of these in the Ocean. If you go to the Japan fish marke where all the best Tuna for for sale you don't see many this size anymore, its a thing of the past. Problem is Tuna take 3 years to reach sexual maturity and were wiping them out faster then they can reproduce.

This is sportfishing. Japan has an enormous market for fish of many types. If Japan mostly did their fishing in this manner then there would be no overfishing. Unfortunately they use large fishing vessels utilizing various methods to pull out large amounts of fish for profit. I was excited for Hiroki Matsukata. He did not go out to just collect a stupid amount of fish. He also did not wasted the meat. It was surely all eaten. There was no by catch either and that's good!

@odysseyorlando No bycatch? Humorous! Here on the east coast of the USA, fishermen are required to harvest bycatch in order to sell a numerous amount of sellable species. In FL, fishermen are required by law to use a net which produces a bycatch rate of 98% according to scientists designated by the FWC whom tested the net. Here in NC laws implemented often increase bycatch exponentially. We are also forbiden to use hook and line to harvest our catch as well. Im tired of hearing about bycatch!!!!

@bionicsjw hahaha no, the 3 types of tuna have been bred succesfully in sea farms, the sea farm industries breed over 80% of the tuna that we see in stores and restaurants, fishing is decreasing like to 15% and sea farms take over the world ;)

@bionicsjw Yes, tuna is overfished. 50% of all fish are close to the point where they cant contribute to the ecosystem anymore. This is something most people who are in the fishery business arent understanding. Theres only 20% of the fish for us. The rest is neccessary to keep the ecosystem stable. We're taking out 80%. The tragic is, that were killing 8,5 kilos of sealife with each kilo were selling. Mankind is working on its own disappearance.
