  • I Have To Admit That Was Pretty Good.. But I Agree Somewhat With The Other People That Commented.. It Was Unclear Towards The Beggining. But Not Really Bad.. Other Than That Congrats.. I Sometimes Go To Empty My Spit And Cant Get The Slide Back In Fast Enough... HaHa Its Terrible.. :D

  • @beatlesfanatic221 If You Cant Tell The Difference From A or Bb Then You Shouldnt Be Playing... At All

  • @agranger1993 hey! i'm from texas! and i don't suck ;_;

  • its not a good sound.. the jumping of notes is unclear..

  • By the way, you should sit how you want to... Probably half the people who commented on your posture are nowhere near you performance level, it they were they probably wouldn't have commented in the first place.

  • Very good sound, and a very good performance, I especially liked the volume on the forte section. Watch the tuning on the stopped notes at the end, that was the only error i noticed besides the few cracked notes.

  • In terms of intonation this is fantastic! Very even tone across the whole register also! I would just be a little more relaxed with it in terms of how the music flows. If this was imbued with alot more musical tension it would be insanely good! Very brave to put this on youtube and to play so well:)

  • my friend goes to seminole high school

  • nice sound, but its not a music! play with some thought and by heart!

  • I must say that this is incorrect. I'm almost an all-state horn player in Texas, and I ALWAYS play with my horn off the leg. Partly because I'm a big guy, and I can't fill my lungs with the horn on the leg, but also because it does direct the sound. There's a difference between horns up and off the leg. When you play off the leg, you keep it at the same angle as if on the leg, just up in the air. Horns up goes out to the audience.

  • @hitman8djr yep you right about that

  • No... the weight of the horn must be on the hand holding the bell!!! Not on the leg...

Standing up would be another good idea...

  • @manolly okay okay whatever you say

    people in texas suck

    just sayin' ;b

  • I wouldn't know, there are 5000 miles between me and texas... but I seriously doubt that all people in texas suck. ;)

  • No they do....

  • @manolly The Weight Of The Horn Must Not Be On The Hand.. Because The Fact That You Cup Your Hand @ The Bottom Of The Bell Not At The Top Of The Bell.. So No Need To Use Your Exclamations So Freely Because You Are Wrong.. Maybe You Should Go Back To The Begginer Level And Learn The Proper Techniques.

  • @swansovec Thank you for you compliment...

Maybe where you come from you are right... here in germany there is NOT ONE professor who yould agree with you. Should they all be wrong?!? I don't think so. So stop being so arrogant!

  • @swansovec Never heard that before... why in the world would put it at the bottom? You put it on the side and support using the thumb and side of index.

  • @manolly Why? I play the French Horn and it is great to have it on the knee.

  • @jadeng852 By putting the bell on your leg you prevent the bell from vibrating properly. By doing that you are killing certain frequencies that give the sound warmth and brilliance.

  • oh and by the way...dude you sound AMAZING!!!!!! -laura valdivia

  • hey what solo is this?? i play the french horn, this is my #rd year and this solo sounds amazing i have a solo comming up soon and i really need ideas. please comment on this. thanks -laura valdivia

  • i play friench horn too. im in 7th grade and been playing it for 2 years. havent had any solos yet but ill get there soon! btw, u are awsome!!!! hope to b as good as u soon!

  • it changes the tone and pitch dramatically.

  • Why do they put there hand in the instrument

  • Idk ... Cause There's Nowhere Else To Put It ... ? LOL

  • that's just what you're supposed to do. it helps support it and protrude the sound.

  • @chscheer93 the word is project... i don't think it's protrude... I thought that meant sticking out, like when you've broken a bone, the bone protrudes from the skin.

    :)

  • they stick theyre hand in the bell to change pith the deep u put ur hand the lower the pitch gets PS i play french horn at school =]

  • tuning, thats one of the main things french horn players use to tune. we can move our hand to adjust the tuning.

  • man ... I Need To Learn How To Play French Horn Good Lawl

  • good tone, and it'll only get better as time goes on. I find that "correct posture" is a joke for solo playing: play how you play best. If you feel more secure slightly back in your seat, go for it. Although, sitting up straight does help a bunch, and if you can't because your leg is glued to your leg, unglue it :). Good luck if you decide to continue on

  • everyone is telling you that you should sit up and sit at the edge of you seat...man if you can play that well and you arent even in concert postion...danng! i wonder what you would sound like if you did. im a french horn player and i have been playing for 6 years now and man i havent ever heard anyone play that well...well except for casandra and carissa.....but other than them...you were great!! loved it! i hope that you keep going and pursue playing it you are a beautiful player. :D

  • This guy a noob hes not in the correct posture. Suppose to get on the edge of your seat and stand straight

  • Oh really - he's suppose to sit on the edge of his chair and STAND straight, hmm? Why don't we learn some basic English before we decide to fix things, aye?

  • LMAO omg ok man you got me you got me hahaha i ment sit up in his chair straight and sit almost at the edge of his chair but hes not bad on his french horn hes better then me XD but fix his posture

French Horns are the best! :)

  • sit up!!

    great job though! :)

    French horns rule!!!

  • Watch your counting at 1:50 and 2:10 and 2:14, you have so much going for you in sound and intonation, you owe it to yourself to count accurately. Easy fix.....count!! Great playing Chris! Your entrances in the upper register are really graceful and free. Nice low stuff, too!! Good luck!
