  • this makes me wish i knew how to speak cantonese more

  • I'm agree with Slovei.....Cantonese it's more difficult that Mandarin. I heard the english, french and also spanish versions cause i can speak the last language as well and Cantones has the best lyrics and after comes spanish

  • @Judy5955

  • @klsuperman What about if i just want to get thid song

  • @Judy5955

you can leave down your e-mail to my in box

  • hi micaelmag

i really like this cantonese version best of all, and its a great pity that i can't see the

lyrics clearly on the screen. is it possible for you to re-do this with the larger visible font ? am i asking too much? because i like the video too....thank you and God bless,

  • does anyone know where i can download this ??? thanks

  • love it!!!who is that hong kong singer?

  • Comment removed

  • What a beautiful language Cantonese is!!!

  • Anyone knows who the two singers are?

  • the person who sing first is KIT Chan and the other is 陳嘉露 :-P

  • woah did u sing this?? o.o

  • !! they even have it in cantonese! very nice!

  • "san nang loeng zoi san bin, wing hang bat bin" This phrase is always very catchy and hairstanding when I listen to it.

  • Is there a good place I could learn to pronounce the line, "san nang loeng zoi san bin, wing hang bat bin (yu nei soeng seon)"? I'm trying to learn the multilingual version of this song.

  • Oh, really? I also had to learn to sing it.. I did when I was at school... 5 years ago, I think..

But c'mon... This part is not so difficult.. I think you can learn it okay... The most difficult ones (for me) were Polish and Icelandic.. Anyways.. Good luck!

  • I know, but I know that Cantonese is sort of a complex language in terms of pronunciation (maybe not so much in singing?) so I want to get it right...

  • It's still important when singing, but not so much as it is in speaking, because a different intonation (there's seven of them, if I remember correctly) can mean a different word. Just keep listening to the song and you'll start to get it!

  • I can spell it out phonetically for you. The transliteration is very hard to read if you don't know how to. :D

sun nung lerng (a very light "r" sound) z/joi (a cross between the two) sun been (long e sound) wing hung but been (long e again) yu nei serng seon

It's very hard to romanize the last word, because the sound doesn't exist in English. Just listen to the song and you'll get it!

  • @StarfireandSakura It might be more accurate as "Sum lung leung joy sun been, wing hung but been (yure lei sueng seun)" for a directly english transcription. The sueng and seun are slightly differently.. it's really hard to explain D:

  • @HelloProjectAllStars "Sen nengleung joi senbin, wingheng bet bin (yu nei seungseun)" sorry I tried to correct your mispellings a bit. I also spelled the words with 2 syllables together...since, well, they're single words.

  • i think it's the pentatonic scale that makes this song a little chinese

  • Wow, Cantonese version not too bad, it makes the song more powerful feeling. Although the other versions are powerful in itself, just the voice itself can make the difference.

  • Cantonese is so pretty. ;__;

  • thank you thank you for the upload! I've been waiting for this for a long time.

  • The singer is peng ling. What a great voice she got!

  • No, the singer is not Cass Peng, they are 陳潔儀 & 陳嘉露

  • Thanks for pointing it out. Now i realize there's actually 2 person singing. lol.

I enjoy the cantonese version very much even though i don't understand the language, it sounded so beautifully.

  • I'm touching by this song and the lyric. (I'm a Catholic in HK)

  • this version is amazing.rly =)

  • who's the singer?

  • 只要相信便看見

    (When You Believe

  • nice :)

the voice of the singer makes a lot of difference IMO, regardless of the language used.

also, the Cantonese became a distinct sub-ethnic group during the Qin dynasty (around 2000 yrs ago.) plus Cantonese and Mandarin are mostly mutually unintelligible.

  • UGHH I LOVE THIS<3

  • This version fits quite nicely. Sometimes the language change from the original results in too many syllables or a more awkward rhythm, but this one was really well done. I'm impressed. I love the music from this movie ^_^

  • But all of this, God still love us. :D

  • @Matefore1

that is so true, but my language is independent just like its ppl. It may be true that we are descended from china , but u are mistaken... there is no main lang... each language is independent and beautiful. I for one am extremely proud of my language and where i come from (HONG KONG)! I suggest u respect each language and btw chinese is not a language- i believe you are referring to mandarin

brush up on your languages before coming here, and insinuating my lang., honey! I <3 HK!!

  • very good

  • ok first of all it doesn't matter whether cantonese or mandarin sounds better... everyone has a different opinion and preference. Also mandarin and cantonese lyrics is different because they need to find the words that fit correctly and matches the musical notes... just like how American English is different from British English... I prefer cantonese b/c I spoke it since i was little so im used to cantonese... I am also trying to learn mandarin too..

  • Well, as far I know though, the differences between Mandarin and Cantonese are much greater than the differences in American English and British English (which is primarily a vocabulary and accent difference, but it mutually intelligible). I think there's still a debate over whether Cantonese and Mandarin can really be dialects of each other because they are so far apart. Some people consider them different languages entirely. I suppose it depends on your opinion of what the Chinese Language is.

  • Someone say that they don't like the Cantonese version, the reason is very simple, both of them are the nationalist, they think that the Cantonese speakers just one of the part in Chinese society. They jealous about Cantonese have such independent position.

  • In actually, Cantonese is the ancient Chinese and have a long long history, so the sound of Cantonese is much abundant than Mandarin.

  • Comment removed

  • I think cantonese just flows better than mandarin...and i speak both... but

just wondering, if u originally canto speaker does it mean it more likely you understand mandarin more than a person that originally is a mandarin speaker to know what canto people are saying in Cantonese?

  • YES. I'm not exactly sure why, but it probably has to do with the fact that Cantonese has more tones than Mandarin does.

  • @lavendee2 They have it in Mandarin too

  • @akpokemon Yes I know...I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say/accomplish by saying that. o.o

  • @lavendee2 Yeah, I really have no idea. I must have been tired. Ha ha. I think I read your post wrong, and I thought you had said something like they only translated this song into Cantonese 'cause Manderin didn't have enough tones--or what I was thinking, "pitches"--in the language to fully sing this song. Which makes no sense because "pitch" is not the same thing as "tones" in linguistics, so basically, I was tired and didn't have a clear understanding of what I was saying; sorry! Ha ha

  • Thank you God.You so love us!

  • 有一個英文版本勁好聽, 係Mariah Carey & Whitney houston唱 o既 "When you believe"!

  • Cantonese is my mother tongue, but I also speak English, Mandarin, and some French; Cantonese is the MOST complex and difficult lyrics to write, as there are 9 different intonations compared to only 4 in Mandarin. You cannot just compare Cantonese lyrics to Mandarin, which is much more flexible and forgiving.

  • Cantonese is the MOST complex and difficult lyrics to write, as there are 9 different intonations compared to only 4 in Mandarin. It's not fair to compare Cantonese lyrics to Mandarin based upon faithfulness to original meaning, as Mandarin is much more flexible and forgiving.

  • timothyngim you just a frog under the well

  • Woi, tats just my personal opinion, ok!!!!

  • i love it! i'm part cantonese, and now that i'm older, i'm beginning to appreciate my culture a lil bit more. i'm watching all these cantonese versions of these songs from all these cartoons like this one and some disney movies. its awesome thanks!

    Is this Cantonese Chinese ?

    Sounds not...

  • yes, cantonese...較傳神^^

  • the mandarin and cantonese versions have different lyrics. Though they are pronouned differently. they are written the same way right?

  • not exactly...verb and noun order, you know...

    eg你今天話題特別多(mandarin)

    eg你今日特別多野講(cantonese)

  • who sang this song anyway

  • i wish there were lyrics so i can sing this song!

  • But there are lyrics.. Jus click in "More Info" in the grey box in the left side of the video. There are chinese lyrics and their transliteration..

  • Erm...what's the song title in cantonese? and who sang it?

  • Joey Yung (Rong Zu Er) sing this?

  • doesnt sound like her

  • does anyone have the lyrics (canto) for this??

  • tis is <3

  • I'm Chinese. Judging from the translation, I do think the Cantonese version is better. The Mandarin version, when compared with the original English version, sounds like if you believe in YOURSELF and walk on, you'll see miracles; yet the original message is that the miracle is from GOD. The translated meaning is so different.

The Japanese and Korean ones are way better. (I speak all the 5 languages mentioned so you gotta trust me, haha!)

  • can anyone pelase tell me where i can get this song pleasee, i also love this song like the rest of you lol please and thanks

  • by the way i love this song; no matter what language, i just love it! princ of egypt was good too! to be honest the discussion whether cantonese or mandarin is better is pretty stupid, they're both as good!

  • im SORRY, im chinese and cantonese IS NOT stupid FYI! >=( but by the way, i also like this song in no matter wat language.

  • i don't think he's calling the language stupid , but the actual arguement of which is better.

  • yh what i meant was the argument was stupid not cantonese, i would never say that cos im chinese as well but yh if i had to choose which one was better out of cantonese and mandarin i wouldn't be able to choose because they are both as good!

  • I agree,I am chinese too

  • im chinese too!! XD

  • Cool! too bad my PC can't write chinese,oh well!

  • does anyone know where i can get the karaoke or instrumental version of this in movie not whitney houston and mariah carey version? i know there is instrumental versin of this in movie version but there english in the background; is there one where there isn't any english and just instrument version?

  • Being a Christian myself, I cannot express how much I feel touched by these beautifully written lyrics, and the singer also wonderfully delivers the song in such a breathtaking way...! 5/5

  • Ahh... I love how the Cantonese sounds. The language itself is so melodic, even when speaking (although I will admit the yelling can get harsh). Mandarin sounds more... professional to me, with only 4 tones it seems more level. Like it's more formal.

The Cantonese sounds so pretty. I love the voice acrtesses' voices.

  • i rather have a Cantonese guy on my side during an argument lol

  • But why?

  • you hear how they talk? its really powerful and usually loud.

  • actually I'm Cantonese, seriously

  • Hey, people! Calm down, Everyone.. That's supposed to be a place for comments, not for fight, right?

Everyone here can write down a comment saying what you think about the video, the language, the song, the voices.. And we have to accept in a good way the oppinions of everyone.. We are all different in our thoughts.

So, let's enjoy the video and forget these littles gibberishes, right?!

    Thanks for Everything.

  • holy crap so many ppl are hating on my post, lol. i love cantonese, i'm just saying its not the most flattering language you hear, imo.

  • lol there was some language that wasnt canto

  • You mean Hebrew?

  • was that what its called I forgot

  • i personally like Cantonese more than Mandarin. it just has so much power into it.

  • Muito baum o Video!

    show!

    Parabéns!

  • people that hate cantonise version. I love this even the mandarin one but the people that hates this version, no offense but go to hell! because if you like the mandarin version other than the cantonise then i suggest you watch your mouth or be as good as everyone else to respect other peoples languages.

  • I think Cantonese people have deeper voices. Mandarin sounds for feminine. I'm American-Chiu Chow. Who are the singers to this song?

  • hi micael and all of the visitors

i were very sorry for my fault that i hadn't replied all of your mails..

i have got some problems in my pc so that i couldn't visit youtube for a few months!!

Fortunately i fixed it last week..

i will reply your mails and send all the songs and transliterations soon...

    Sorry for making inconvenient..

P.S. I hope all of you can read this passage- -"My English is really really bad@@

  • geez. all you canto haters are so racist. there ARE canto people reading your comments you know. = =" and i AM one of them. i don't really care about all those language insults, but i'm just speaking on behalf of those who do care.

  • Hi..

Er.. I know you're Canadian, but your English in this comment was so confused that I understand nothing of what you wrote.. I understood the words, but not the meaning of them..

  • excuse me? you mean the slang? or what? oO?

  • Yes.. Too much slangs.. I know almost nothing about English slang.. Got it? [:D]

  • He said: Geez, all you Cantonese haters are so racist. You know that Cantonese people are reading the comments you post right? I am one of them, I don't really care but I'm just warning you to keep it to yourself on behalf of those who will get offended.

  • This sounds really great, a bit more serious, but not as beautiful as the mandarin version.

  • you know what!!! if you like the mandarin version sooo much and hate cantonese version then why are you even listening to it??...if you don't like it then don't listen to it...it's simple.

  • the mandarin version is good...but the cantonese version is good too!

  • cantonese actually sounds much better than mandarin. mandarin version was good too.

  • Someone should post the Mandarin versions, now that they've gotten taken down.

  • True, me too, lol.

  • hey don't call me a retard. and you, "my friend", are wrong. Cantonese can refer to a group of people too. dont believe me? theres a whole freaking article on wikipedia about cantonese PEOPLE!! do your research before you think you're right. so YES, i am canto and proud of it.

  • do you know how easy it is to edit crap on wikipedia?

  • Oh, trap it hater. lol.

  • NOTIHNG && i mean NOTIHNG beats insults in cantonese. mandarin sounds awful speaking wise. too many "sssss" sounds. what if you have a lisp? hmm. so to manadrin only sounds good singing wise, but they are songs that sound "ugly" in manadrin.

  • don't forget that there are songs that sound "ugly" in English as well XD

  • could you give it me as an mp3??? i love this song. Thanks so much for posting! selenium 0 0 1 3 at yahoo dot com.

  • Oh my gosh, I've been looking for this for a long time. The Cantonese voices sound so beautiful, I prefer it to Mandarin version, but I can only understand Mandarin.

  • I personally think the mandarin version is better, but this is pretty.

  • the cantonese version sounds much better than de chinese version...cos the cantonese solo is more choral.

  • More choral? By definition, a solo cannot be choral at all.

  • who is the singer? would love to have the mp3 format. :)

  • in the first verse, I would say:

    "仍是勇闖直[驅] 不雖確認或允許"

    would be more accurate ;-]

and i would like to have all the prince of egypt mp3 as well

  • oh, dumb head :p. my email address is

    mokonamon at gmail dot com

  • ha~ sorry typo, i was typing too fast...

    仍是勇闖直[驅] 不需確認或允許

  • omg..i have made a mistake..

    前臨高山流水 或明知崎嶇不畏懼

    仍是勇闖直去 不需確認或允許

    the "去" change to "取"

and the sound of that change from "heoi" to "ceoi"

  • lol...extremely hard to write it now..i hv to find my friends to help me...would u like to wait for 3/4 days?

  • In chinese?

    okay.. wait

  • i hv sent a mail to you in youtube, plz receive it

  • i think the English version is the best..

    even I am a cantonese

  • Oh... Are you Cantonese? Couldn't you write this lyrics for us, please?!!!
