The factory engine is built to make an acceptable amount of power while still being reliable. An aftermarket built engine is done for the sale of power alone, not to last 250,000+ miles. There will never be a 4,000,000 mile modified Japanese engine, but there are stock American engines with that many and more.

Make 400hp from a 1.6L engine, from a 5.0L engine and from a 7.2L engine, and the biggest engine will run the longest, while the smallest engine will self-destruct within a couple years. You will be lucky to go 11s and do that with a civic, but a mustang can. Most any V8 car can. Friend of mine slowed his camaro down because of a wreck in a previous car to 9.20s, street legal. No civic going to do that. Hell, I know a street legal F150 that will do 8.80s.

no hate just wondering why people put so much into there civics & other 4 cyl when u could put the same into a v8 & get 3 times the power for instance 10 psi turbo charger for a good set up its around 2-3k & you will gain about 75 to 100 hp & in total will be around 200 hp if u put a 10 psi super charger that cost around the same on something like a magnum 400 v8 you would make around 650hp ive worked in a specialty shop 4 a couple yrs & always had a project car so that is my level of expertise
@ColtonKuhn1 It's a preference thing. whether it be money ,motor/ exhaust sound, comfort, etc. Also its a beautiful feeling when for example; you have a 4 banger (regardless of make) built and tuned it and can walk on v6's and v8's or even keep up with some bikes. its a challenge. 3x's the power is a lil overboard I think. If you take a stock Acura GSR motor 170hp (crank) put a good turbo setup w/ a gt3071 or 76 your easily 320whp or more.... thats not touching pistons or rods yet

That will keep it over 3100lbs. But the fact that I can do something those Honda's can't, that's make 800+whp on 91 octane pump gas, emissions legal, plus make nearly as much torque as hp, and be totally reliable will make up for the weight.

The factory engine is built to make an acceptable amount of power while still being reliable. An aftermarket built engine is done for the sale of power alone, not to last 250,000+ miles. There will never be a 4,000,000 mile modified Japanese engine, but there are stock American engines with that many and more.

Make 400hp from a 1.6L engine, from a 5.0L engine and from a 7.2L engine, and the biggest engine will run the longest, while the smallest engine will self-destruct within a couple years. A bigger engine will not be working as hard to make the same power. My mustang will still be around long after all the Honda's in this video have been turned into Rockstar Energy or Pepsi cans. Not sure the metal is good enough to be a beer can.

That's poor engineering and designing cars to be unrepairable so that you'll just throw it away to buy a new one. Seriously, a $10 sensor goes out in a Honda, and you have to spend $400 to replace the whole distributor. A PERFORMANCE distributor for a US car is about $150. Hondas barely work, that's why.

You will be lucky to go 11s and do that with a civic, but a mustang can. Most any V8 car can. Friend of mine slowed his camaro down because of a wreck in a previous car to 9.20s, street legal. No civic going to do that. Hell, I know a street legal F150 that will do 8.80s.

A 3000lb mustang, with 1000hp, will run 8.30s. These Hondas, which are 1000lbs lighter, run 9.50s. Fail car has failed.

Obviously the Hondas will eventually output 2000 hp. What happens in the combustion chamber has no upper limit. It all depends on the mechanism delivering the power to the wheels. Apollo missions didn't have VTEC, but if everyone had a Saturn rocket to modify in their driveway/garage, urban life would become more hostile. Ear-muff sales would double overnight.

no hate just wondering why people put so much into there civics & other 4 cyl when u could put the same into a v8 & get 3 times the power for instance 10 psi turbo charger for a good set up its around 2-3k & you will gain about 75 to 100 hp & in total will be around 200 hp if u put a 10 psi super charger that cost around the same on something like a magnum 400 v8 you would make around 650hp ive worked in a specialty shop 4 a couple yrs & always had a project car so that is my level of expertise

@ColtonKuhn1 It's a preference thing. whether it be money ,motor/ exhaust sound, comfort, etc. Also its a beautiful feeling when for example; you have a 4 banger (regardless of make) built and tuned it and can walk on v6's and v8's or even keep up with some bikes. its a challenge. 3x's the power is a lil overboard I think. If you take a stock Acura GSR motor 170hp (crank) put a good turbo setup w/ a gt3071 or 76 your easily 320whp or more.... thats not touching pistons or rods yet

@Siguy999 yeah i guess basically everything in the automotive world is personal preference. and 3x is very easily achieved like for instance have u every seen a 2000hp civic stock engine or any 2000hp 4 cylinder engine? i havent and ive been in the automotive industry for quite a while now. on the other hand it is quite easy to achieve 2000hp if u have somthing like a ford 7.5l v8 or a magnum 400 with just 10 psi the magnum was making 734whp imagine if the turbo had the same psi these hondas do.
