  • Install a flame holder and defuser stainless steel wire works good to hold the flame like a screen, fuel or petrol must be injected between these two devices inside the engine,

  • nice work (Y) ..this is sub sonic ramjet... you can further your research by apply them in high speed RC jets

  • well done, you made a blow-torch...

  • please tell me how you made that

  • to small to be ram jet, and ram jet is really powered by a vortex inlet by wind force this only works if its built right and is already flying at high speed something like 150 mph.

remember why jet engines are built large. they have to be big to be able to pull enough force

  • Unless that turbo is blowing out air at mach 3, that things pretty inefficient. But I can see it would be extremely tough to get a mach 3 environment so no biggy. But it would probably work in a mach 3 environment if it was a bit bigger. And its got a fairly good compression ratio considering ur just using a turbo

  • Ramjets can theoretically operate at fractions of KTAS. Although, by principle, they need a supersonic outflow, they do not need to have a supersonic inflow, actually a ramjet slows incoming supersonic flow to subsonic speeds in order to keep from flaming out. There is only a lower speed limit for scram jets who's operating principle is to maintain supersonic flow through the entire engine.

  • @1969LEO1969 I'm sorry but you are mostly wrong. Ramjets work by compressing the incoming air using a shock waves in the inlet prior to combustion. This necessitates supersonic flow. That being said, you can get away with going slightly slower than Mach 1, if it is a converging inlet, as a subsonic flow will accelerate to Mach 1, resulting in a shock and the required compression for combustion. However, too slow and you get unstart, which sends your passengers through the windshield!

  • @myso2008 jet engines are built large so they can propel a machine big enough to carry a pilot and usually some other cargo, like a couple thousand pounds of bombs, or 100 passengers. Real jet turbine engines can be had for under $5000 US dollars from about 100 different companies, and can be small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
