The thing is that Liam started singing TOO EARLY. Whatever starts with the chord-circle being played twice AND THEN Liam is supposed to sing, so Noel goes like "No, you're wrong" and Liam goes like "well, but I'm singing it anyway" and then asks the public if it sounded right or not, after all. hahahah Silly things, but... that's what makes Noel who he is, a perfectionist and most likely the best songwriter of the last 30 years.

I've listened to the recorded version over, and Liam wasn't actually wrong! but if you watch closely, right after the 1st time he sings 'I'm freeee eeee to be whatever I! then you notice he looks straight to Noel, probably because he's conscious of it and it makes him stutter just a fraction as he comes back in but Noel should have just let it go 'cos he wasn't out of time.

And you're right, Liam looks straight to Noel for confirmation, and I agree Noel should have just let it go. But Noel is a perfectionist, and that's probably what makes him such a great songwriter. He thinks about little things like that.

@OctavioSWTOR MY THEORY - When Liam sings "I'm free to say whatever I" he doesn't sound out the word whatever for a as long as in the recorded version. I think Noel has noticed this in other live performances and told Liam think about how he sings it, but unintentionally does it anyway and then Noel just gives him a little headshrug which leads to Liam getting pissed off and Noel have to sing instead. Listen to the recorded version you can hear the difference in how he sings the word "Whatever".

So Liam watched him and then he told him: "Well, but I'm singing anyway" like saying "Well but I'm singing, what's the problem if it's in a bad way?"
