  • but we are not rats. so sick of us being compared to vermin

  • He says "I take them myself". Is that supposed to make me want them! Lol. I was thinking yeah! Until he told me he is taking them. Now I want to avoid them like the plague! Lol

  • @GregWorzel

I'd agree with you if he said that he is 50 yrs old and taking them since obviously looks older than 50.........I can tell you I'm 51 and Look younger and stronger than any 41 yr old man, but I wouldn't attribute it to just those 2 supplements since I take a bunch more supplements than alpha lipoic and acetyl-l-carnitine. My favorites are 10 fish pills daily, 2 fork full of minced garlic, 6 cayenne pepper pills, 1gram Niacin, saw palmetto, gingko, 8+ glasses of water.

  • @madmanatsea

Obviously I take more supplements than those listed there. I also take Lysine, n-acetylcysteine, turemric, magnesium, B-100, folate, etc., and more. Advice go to wikipedia and search n-acetylcysteine or go to webmd to learn about n-acetylcysteine..........You know someone who has liver failure due to tylenol poisoning or any other reason why the liver is failing? Get them on n-acetylcysteine to SAVE the liver and their life. webmd has the NAC protocol to follow!

  • I love my alcar but ala gives me headaches so I just CoQ10 as an anti-oxident. Good quality cod liver or fish oil is still the ultimate preventative medicine IMO, Omega-3's date back in our diets and genes tens of thousands of years and something we totally neglect in todays diets, especially in the West.

  • RESVERATROL - From what I've read, Resveratrol breaks down quickly when exposed to air. Thus any supplement (capsule) which allows R to be exposed to the environment may have contained the advertised amount @ manufacture, but it is doubtful it has any potency by the time you consume it.

  • @scogo3 what you say is very true. Univera has now patented a process that protects the resveritrol in a gel cap and the potency is guaranteed for a year. Anything else you buy is only guaranteed for the time of purchase. that's not saying a lot!

  • Check consumerlabs for ala supplements. A large proportion have been found to be rancid or have less than stated in them.

  • Great info. I have been taking alpha lipoic acid capsules for about 4 years for glaucoma. My opthamologist tells me that I'm doing better "than I should be."

  • Great Info. Along with alpha lipoic acid, Resveratrol in red wine and the skin of grapes has also been studied for its anti-aging properties. I personally take both supplements daily along with 14 other natural whole food ingredients. The great thing is that it all comes in one Chewable!

    ChewsYourHealth (dot) blogspot (dot) com

  • @NoirO7 I highly doubt your chewable is any good. Chewables are usually high in sugar or sugar substitutes and contain only small amounts of nutrients.

  • @NoirO7 see the posting for scogo3 above. Most any resveritrol you buy is only guaranteed potency for the time of purchase. It breaks down right away. Univera has a patented process that protects the resveritrol in a gel cap and the full potency is guaranteed for a year.

  • i am taking Vitager, it;s really effective and safe. all ingredients are all natural so i dont worry about side effects.

  • ok...u want a cookie too?

  • I'm taking 200 mg of stabilized R-Lipoic Acid (the "Na-RALA" form) plus 600 mg of Alpha-Lipoic Acid with added Biotin in

    addition to other potent nutrients.

  • ok...u want a cookie:?

  • Chews-4-Health contains Goji, Mangosteen, Acai, Noni,Pomegranate, Blueberry, Cranberry, Raspberry,Kelp, Nori, Dulse and Bladder Wrack,

B12, Folic Acid, Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Resveratrol

  • so f'n what

  • Why alpha-lipoic acid and not R-lipoic acid the natural form which is more biologically active than the S (alpha) form?

  • Very good question, and I too would like to know the answer.

  • R-ala IS lipoic acid in vivo. The S part just floats around without doing anything in particular. R-ala is the "natural" version in the strict sense. But its very unstable and poorly bioavailable unless in NaRALA form, in case you didn't already know...
