Oppps, oh well no biggie I guess. Not sure about the Nightmare on Elm Street rip off idea. Requim From The Darkness also does the same kinda thing, and to a lesser extent Vampire Princess Miyu. I thought the animation was pretty decent for it, but thats just me. Yes Brina was good here but, she need better roles.

@DeantaySharlon well I was bored by it. And that Nightmare On Elm St. claim was presumptuous. And actually now that I think about it Brina kind of hammed it up like it was her way of saying, "Sorry if you're bored but I hope I can make you laugh." but I'm probably the only one who sees that.

@IloveOtherPplsMsry I was bored with it to don't worry. I don't really see it like that with Brina, but....Maybe I missing it. I do feel she's to stop doing Voice like Ai. I mean Claymore, Summer Wars, Spice and Wolf, hell even in Romeo x Juliet she has been really good. And while she was good as Ai, she was holding back a lot of what she can do. Anyway it was good to see your Review and do a bit of comparing. Kinda interesting to see what we agree and disagree on. Take it easy mate.

@DeantaySharlon I don't think it's Brina's fault, I think the blame lies more with the directors they're not giving her enough material where she can really show off. but as lackluster as Ai was, trust me, Ai has nothing on Ciel from Black Butler, that is hands down Brina's worst role.

@IloveOtherPplsMsry Oh yes it wasn't Brinas fault lol. But still Ai is a role that isn''t for her because she does have to hold back what she can do. Still she did Ai quite well I think. Though not the role for her as for Black Butler I'll take your word for it, It looks like a really bad series. I should give it ago before I pass judgement but the truth is "I don't f**king want to" I'm more careful these days with what I get lol.

@DeantaySharlon well actually while I didn't hate Black Butler I'm not gonna be going through it a second time. Not a terrible series, but from what a couple friends (who do like it) have told me, I think you need to have a very specific mindset to enjoy it.

I mean Todd's in Hellgirl, Hetalia, xxxHolic, Baccano!, Claymore, FMA Brotherhood, Oraun, D-Gray man. and half the time he's either miscatst or under utilized no wat I mean?

Concerning, the opening themes, I think they're more suited for mysteries. However, these songs fit the show because Hell Girl is more subtle for trying to be a horror anime, than "blood and gore in your face". Look at Elfen Lied, the op song was opera to reflect the depressing nature of the show.

I felt this show was more supposed to be like an anime form of "Tales from the Crypt" rather then scary. Even if it was classified that way, NGE is considered a mecha anime & we all know the show has much more to it. I admit it does repeat itself a lot but I enjoyed the nightmare scenarios Ai used & not everything was meant to be "worst fears" it was just to make them suffer. Notice how the good people she sent to Hell, didn't get nightmare scenarios.

Personally, i can see where your coming from but I disagree with most of what you say. The show wasn't really meant to be "scary" and "terrifying" as you should know, not every horror movie is actually "scary" and also, I half agree with the Freddy bit.

Freddy loved what he did because he was a bastard, Ai was forced to do this as punishment for her sins. This made her "dead" inside and hollow, the character is supposed to be lifeless and in truth,

I could not get to the end of this review at all... This was just a horribly opinionated review. Honest;y, you really did this anime a disjustice. You did not give it enough credit. It was a wonderful anime, it played on many negative emotions, but I guess unless you can appreciate all the thought that went into this anime, you wouldn't like it. It is a mind-rape anime but it was not done in a day. The creator put much effort and thought into this to appeal to a higher level of intelligence.

I had the same problem with the opening of Samurai 7. It's suppose to be this big epic samurai action anime yet they play this pop song for their opening and I also had a problem the opening song for Gungrave not because I hated the song but because it just didn't fit. It's a shoot'em up anime with gangs and monsters yet the song they play is kinda smooth and calm.

you know when I first picked up this anime and heard the title I was under the impression that it would be some demon possessed girl tearing people limb from limb. Its to bad it sucked though I watched it on IFC for a while but I dropped it after about 7 episodes because I knew exactly what was going to fucking happen.
