  • What is that little red dot at the end of the 'Like' bar?

  • Absolutely beautiful. I just sigh when I hear this. What power music has!

  • very good

  • this is wonderful. thank you for this video!

  • :O

  • I love that music. Better than the hippidy-hopp music. Good job.

  • Sublime performance.

  • i watched man on wire to this so i think of the sky

for snow i think of walking in the air by howard blake

  • Bravissimo. Just like it was meant to be. You are the best. Thanks a million.

  • I haev always liked this piece but did not know the name or composer and yesterday. I was at Target I heard a sliver of this piece. I dropped what I was doing rushed to the display case to see what CD it came off of. I took a picture of the list with my phone and google and listed to every piece til I found the name of it. Gymnopedie No 1 Satie.

  • wish me luck, going to record this for my GCSE performance :(

  • I'm only playing the piano since ~8 Months and I tried this piece...but I really didn't know how to stretch my fingers that far it seemed needed to...now I see that you need to work with the pedal >< And my Keyboard don't have one...

But I leanred much :D Thanks for that and your beautiful playing.

  • flawless,...You owned it.

  • Mother 3 anyone?

  • I love this. Thank you so much for making the video and sharing it with all of us.

  • staring at the absence of light

    in my lonely sorrow

wait for the rain of day to settle

and hold my gaze in comfort

    in my dark room

    i stare at the window

    and trace the streaks

which race down the thoughts in my mind

  • lovely. full of feeling. one of the best. unusual to see and hear this played on a keyboard rather than a piano. well done.

  • instant like for non shitty recording like too many other covers.

  • This is one of the best versions of Gymnopedie No. 1 on YouTube!

  • people who dislike this have no soul

  • Ahh wonderful :)

  • extremely well played, just how I want to hear it - outstanding

  • Wonderful ^_^

  • Good performance. I had a question. Did you use the pedal to sustain the sound between the first bass note and the following chord in the left hand? Because from the score sheet, it appears the chords are to be played by the right hand but that is not possible if you're going to play the melody with the right hand. Thanks

  • my favourite of the gymnopedies

  • There are lots of Gymnopédies No.1 in YT :-)

I prefer your interpretation, even though it's played with an electric piano.

This piece is not so easy to perform as it might seem. There are people who play it too fast, too slowly and, most of all, they don't take enough care of the dynamics.

    Bravo!

  • I just have to tell you again how much I love your interpretation of this piece. Some pianists play this song too fast, but your timing is absolutely perfect. I especially enjoy how you add depth to portions of the piece. The extra resonance is breathtaking!

  • You guys must be pretty darn good. Can't say why you don't care for this but it is really a good version except for the page turn. Has good timing and slight moto when needed. Just a funny sounding piano not bad playing. I like it.

  • No one cares.

  • I love your version the best (:

  • this song was blessed by god

  • thisis the kind of music that reminds me of being at my grannies and gramp's old place during the christmas holidays when i was a kid. just sitting by one of those huge windows with a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream on top, looking out at the snow covered world, and pondering on whether to go out and play in the snow or not. it's weird, i know, but that's the feeling i always get when hearing this piece :3

  • It's called nostalgia, and it feels good. ;)

  • @Raiyne123 In Portuguese, saudade. But what I really fell when I listen this music... This music makes me crie.

  • i like it

  • Satie's music is exceptional. And you did a great job. It is played so good I feel him and not just some guy trying to play his music. Wonderful performance!

  • Amazing job!

  • This is odd but i heard this piece while i was watching a clip about brain surgery and new methods for it, and this was the background music. Thank you so much for sharing this on youtube and very well played. Thanks :)

    5/5 stars

  • Was about to jump in bed and fall asleep too... Just as I remembered I have to sleep in a back brace. D:

  • Your interpretation of this melody is simply superb! I could listen to this piece for hours, thank you for sharing your talent Ciao!

  • Thank you very much :)

  • slow down a bit man. but you played excellently! thanks for posting

  • Mucho Lento! I can enjoy the overtones and harmonics of this piece.

    Overtones, the pheromones in music.

    Jack.......gracias

  • can i have the music score pleaseeeeeeeeeee.... thks!

  • You can find it online if you search in google. It's not hard to find.

  • 最高v

    いい曲です(・∀・)

  • @pepeyjack: it's also in the documentary Man on Wire, about the wirewalker Philippe Petit.

  • i love this song

  • Is that a Yamaha P-90? Which sound are you using?

  • Yes that is indeed what it is!

  • @hitthosekeysjack

Yamaha makes such good pianos. I just bought a DGX-640 and this is the first song I wanted to learn to play. It's been 15 years since I took piano lessons as a kid. Was confused as to how much of this song was supposed to be played with the left hand, the video was very helpful!

  • @hitthosekeysjack Sweet, I also own one. SUCH a sick piano! I love the Grand Piano 1 variation, on 'hard' touch. :)

  • Better than words.

  • 1 word : excellent

  • very good in my opinion!bravo.

  • Very beautiful, congratulations.

  • Bravissimo ^^

  • that is a terrific electric piano, never heard it sound so "real"

  • life is too short and I'm always wishing something that i don't have.

This is one of those....9 out of 10.

Es ist für mich perfekt gespielt - kompliment!

  • Nice piece of music played really well, reminds me of special people who are close but no longer live on this earth who have gone to a better place.

  • beautifully done.

  • some notes are missing no?

  • You are right. There are a few missing.

  • well, this is the tempo I usually play it at

  • this is too beautiful, slow or too fast, any how, its to precious to even say a bad comment

  • a bit too slow, imo, but really beautiful played

    I love it

  • i agree aliepally. i always get teary-eyed at the beginning of this also. it is such a lovely piece of music and one that i never tire of hearing. kudos to the performer! thank you.

  • You play this beautifully. To me, this is one of the most depressing pieces of music ever composed but also incredibly moving and beautiful. I usually cry when I hear it. Makes me think of people long gone. Thank you. x

  • very good

  • Wonderfull...

  • very well done.

in my taste it's just a little bit slow, but everyone likes it different.

    mfG

  • brilliant.

    spectacular song, beautifully done.

    thank you!

  • I'm an old r&b drummer......this guy likes the keys of D and G doesn't he.

I've always seen this piece scored in Bflat & Eflat

He has quite a feathery touch for a man but he still masters this piece quite well

  • this is Heath LEDGER's favourite music...He said this music was so wonderful that he could die (I saw it in some video from youtube)

  • wow , i love this melodie so much, its like,a dream !!!!!!!!!!!I whant to play that but im not sure i can,im playing piano but i don't think i can do it....

  • Can Someone Make a "How To Play" Video? Someone Suggested Me To A Video, But I Didn't Help Much... I Need A Video That Walks You Through The Verse and The Song. I Know I Ask A lot, But I Bet That Others Would Appreciate If Anyone Who Could Contribute Their Time To Make That Video

  • whoaa you did awesome :)

    loved it!

i'm learning this song for piano camp, so I wanted to hear how it all sounded together.

    thanks for posting.

  • compared to alot of other versions the timing on this is excellent!

  • I've always wondered what this was titled :D

    you play beautifully.

  • There was a voicing (I'm not sure if that's what you piano players call it) that didn't sound right to me, about at 1:15 >.>

But man was this beautiful, absolutely gorgeous! :D

  • He played an A minor instead of an F major in the second part of the second section.

  • Hmm...I guess, so, I cnan't recognize what he's playing by looking at it or tell by ear just yet, but thanks for clearing that up for me! It was bugging me for a while xD

  • It's no problem, and with a piece like this, a mistake rings out so painfully. People say this is an easy piece to learn, and theya bre right. But the execution of the piece.. God ALmighty is it hard...

  • can someone kindly pose the sheet plzz....thanks a lot

  • just perfect musical trip .

  • same here

  • same piano as me! :P really good!

  • I could listen to this all day...so relaxing *sighs* I wish I could play this well.

  • I agree. I downloaded the sheet music and have been trying to play it on my Casio keyboard (76 keys), but, my left hand is having a problem with the jumps. *sigh* Nice to listen to though, and watch and learn

  • can you please tell me where you downloaded them from? want them super bad!

  • i hav a professional recording of this song, and there the start is even faster, so i think you played it beautifully, and i wudn't change a thing!

  • Hahaha... I think I played too fast after watching your video . I wish I have the patient to play at this tempo and beautifully.

  • The start is really fast, Make it painfully slow and re-post :)

Can't say its bad because you played this beautiful piece so well, My Favorite piano piece :)

  • It's a wonderfull song it sounds like jazz:) I can play this on guitar:P

  • *sigh* I could listen to this all day...

  • the start is to faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast! slow down ! it says slow and painful, this is not slow and painful. but well played

  • people will always find something to complain about. even if they throw in the obligatory compliment at the end.

    also too** fixed

  • I'm just helping out! Its well played don't get me wrong, but im just saying that its to fast thatsall! ddon't get all touchy about it!

  • And I'm sure you could play it sooo much better...

  • buona l'interpretazione, ma il tempo non è sempre esatto.Secondo me devi far sentire di più il basso.

  • I Love It

  • This song is sooo beautiful!

I love it! but it is also important where u heard it the first time, cuz that makes a big difference when u listen to it again...

I heard it in a game called kingdom hearts 2 :D

  • in case no one has responded to your comment yet, this actually is not in Kingdom Hearts. The song at the opening screen is called Dearly Beloved, by Yoko Shimomura. It has a very similar sound but it's not the same song. ;-)

  • beautiful

  • This music reminds me something i cant rememer..

  • Janet Jackson's "Someone To Call My Lover."

  • And before anyone flames me, she did use it. Jimmy Jam sped it up and looped it into the chorus. Listen to the song and you can't miss it.

  • I don't get it :S

  • reminds me a bit of 'Old Friends' by Simon and Garfunkel

  • i think this is the best melody written. it makes you contemplate about things

  • Several years ago my little boy died aged 5 this tune will always remind me of him. God Bless.

  • RIP

  • I sorry to hear about your son. This is a beautiful song.

  • it's utter magic.

  • you played this the way it was written. Like a caress. Gentle, soft and loving. Thank you it brings tears to my eyes.

  • exelent

  • nice peace-well played

  • i really like the piano version! for my orchestra concert this is one of the piceces we have to preform

  • I like Gymnopedie No. 3 (Debussy - Gymnopedie No. 1) orchestrated. Have you heard that one?

  • umm i think i have heard it like once. but if mem right i liked the version better

  • This is a nice music to sleep to. I mean this in a good way. It's nice and soft and i think it puts me in a specific mood where I feel too languid to do much.

yeah, i'm getting sleepy right now. I've been thinking of this piece throughout the day.

  • I love Satie and you play this perfectly. Thank you :)

  • beautiful !! it's my next piece !:D

  • Beautifully played!

  • this is really nice, thanks for sharing. however I agree, you're playing it a little sluggish ^_^

  • Nice playing! Somehow my sheet somehow starts me with both of my hands, not with one hand going back and forth to and fro D, G and the chords.

  • ulsbolde89 - you could play it either way. It's your interpretation, so you could play it upside down even like Joo does. ;)

  • My Dinner With Andre theme song!

  • I love your video and the song, excellent!

  • needs to pick up the temp a little bit

  • I used to play this song on a guitar. Pretty nice and pretty hard. If you find any one playing it on guit plz post it, it sounds so good. Ty. Mike

  • It looks so simple to play but i have such such difficulties with it

  • Wonderful performance!

  • i like this peice....sounds better with flute and piano tho

  • awesome...such a nice song

  • can someone make a "How To Play" Video for this song... im a visual learner.. lol but yeah... i always wanted to play this song after i herd it on in movie called "Windstuck" love to play this so.. bad

  • watch?v=WSxDjW9bLCQ

    try this one

  • es la unica cancion que me hace sentir lo fragil q puedo llegar a ser

  • god i love that song

  • So...funny...so...grave...so ugly...so King

  • Erik Satie is an incredible composer. The emotion he puts into his peices is like none other. You have done a wonderful job of capturing that emotion he intended. Congradulations, this sounds beautiful.
