  • is the throttle on the left like the syma s107g goes back into the middle, i can control them helis best

  • is it 30 plus shipping? or in total?

  • why not buy it?

  • @kevinlovecars An amazing heli, but no parts supply. Read the comments for details. When buying a heli, parts are an important consideration. I just ordered a Double Horse 9100. It is larger but built for outdoor flight. I also have several Syma S107 and they are equal to, or even slightly more stable than the 9098. I did this video as a fan, but had to change the title to DO NOT BUY when I found the parts not available.

  • @MikeReedKS there are multiple different newer model replacement parts on amazon specified for the 9098

  • @kevinlovecars I have removed the DO NOT BUY from the title. Nice to see we can now get parts for this great little heli.

  • @MikeReedKS LOL sorry i found this on google and on google it still says do not buy

  • the double horse 9051 isnt much expensiver than that one and its much biger

  • Double Horse 9059 can someone help me with that one

  • @MrSpideradam What do you need?

  • I have one of these it is excellent :)

  • @billybob08299 Yes they are! For the price you can't beat them... till they break. None the less an excellent model.

  • hey. i cant really help you out with the dh 9098 because some electronical issues (long story). I have gotten a new heli this one is 4ch. Its really nice and is about $40. ill pm you the link.

  • @TheLilaznboyy No, your good. Hope you enjoy it!

  • can do FPV on this? :)

  • @50kT Nowhere near the lift capacity for FPV (First Person View). Just the weight of a 9V battery would be too much. You might get off the ground with an all-in-one flash camera, if it was really light weight, but I doubt it. You see FPV more often as you hit 450s and larger. These micros just barley support the few grams of their own weight. If you’ve seen the little camera pill you swallow, I could see something of this size being a built in feature of future heli. It’d be very cool.

  • what was wrong with your heli? I have this and it seems good put the inner shaft (9098-11) keeps breaking. they need to make it aluminum or something

  • @k1ll3rz0mb13z You say "Keeps Breaking"... does that mean you found parts to repair it? When I tried the 9098-11 and 9098-05 that were shipped to me didn't fit together. That is why I went from telling folks TO BUY to telling folks DO NOT BUY. If they have the parts thing solved, this is a great heli. I like it better than the S-107 even.

  • @MikeReedKS yeah xheli has the parts and i also found a website called enjoyhobbies that has it. Apparently, they have a new 9098-11 with reinforced parts on it so i will try it.

  • @k1ll3rz0mb13z Please keep me informed. I'd love to remove the DO NOT BUY from the title. I really think this may be the best of class heli if there are parts that work.

  • @MikeReedKS I will pm you the links. It seems that youtube doesn't allow websites to be posted on comments.

  • @k1ll3rz0mb13z Thank you for the PM. I was always able to get the reinforced 9098-11 part, but you can't get the original part and the 9098-5 that it fits into don't fit the reinforced part, so no way to repair. I got the reinforced part both from China and XHeli but both failed to allow the repair. None the less, thanks for the info. Let me know if you get a part that actually works, or if you cna find a 9098-5 that is also updated to fit the large 9098-11 part.

  • @MikeReedKS I probably wont order one for a while because I only fly these during the winter, I am getting a larger, outdoor heli for my birthday, and during spring/ summer I will be outside and cannot fly it out there. I might get the part just depending on how much more snow I get. I will keep you informed.

  • I HAVE THIS AND IT WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS ... DIDNT CRASH MUCH BUT SUDDENLY WENT CRAZY !!!

.. there will be times where i would turn it on ..(both the controller and and heli) and when i use the throttle to take off .. the helicopter would go FULL POWER and you cant stop it .. just full power!!..

thank god i was holding the bottom part or else it would have hit the ceiling and go everywhere ...

the only way to stop the full power take off is to click the off button on the heli itself ...

  • @animecritic If you got this at XHeli, call them, they are great at taking care of customers. I am confident that they will take great care of you as well. This is clearly a defect. I checked with the supplier and if I buy a full truck load, I can get these for $12.60 each, so hey, this much tech at that low a price and once in awhile there is a lemon... still amazing!

  • @MikeReedKS i got it at a local hobby shop .. ill try to ask them first .. then ill call the company .. yeaa .. its was sooo fun when it was working the first couple of days ... even the old man is so psyched about it... but yea .. it started having moodswings .. this copter of mine -___-

thank you for the quick reply!

  • @animecritic Were you flying it near a flat screen televison? My 55 inch drives this little helicopter nuts!

  • @WiccanOrbweaver It's a DLP not a flatscreen but it doesn't seem to cause any challenges at all. An LCD or LED screen might emit frequencies in the range of the transmitter but this is the first I've heard of it. What type TV is it?

  • @MikeReedKS A Phillps 55" and a Phillips 42". Any time one of my IR helis gets in front of the screen, it falls from the sky like a rock.

  • @MikeReedKS A Phillps 55" and a Phillips 42". Any time one of my IR helis gets in front of the screen, it falls from the sky like a rock. LCD

  • @WiccanOrbweaver Very interesting indeed.

  • getting the orange 9098 its supposed to come today YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAOO

  • @failblog00 You are going to LOVE IT! Havn't checked, but hopefully they have the parts problem resolved by now, once yours breaks, let me know if you can get the parts please.

  • I have to object here, This kit is great for a beginner flyer. I just bought it and now i cruse around the dorm with it. excellent steering and control.

However the only issues i had with it were as soon as it came out of the box the charging connector fell off. (The company did little sodering and gluing) I simply took it apart and rebuilt it (20 min max) and the other was the counter balance (or flybar) snapped off. Spare parts are currently available, GET THEM!!! Exelent toy i must say.

  • @soderboy It is excellent, and most spare parts are available, that it what got me to buy it in the first place. But they had a manufactures defect, the post that went from the 9098-5 to the 9098-11 was too thin and will sheer off in normal use, so they made it thicker, but now it won't fit and I haven’t been able to get versions of the -5 and -11 that fit together. It may be fixed by now, I hope it is, if anyone can confirm... please do.

  • @MikeReedKS I made mine thicker but they did not improve theirs yet. The helicopter basically fell apart as soon as i pulled it out of the box. I was able to take it apart and rebuild it in 30 min. half the parts are now homemade. It flies great, and is now more durable. If you are a handyman this toy is excellent experience.

  • @soderboy Woot dude, you rock! No stopping you! Then I'm sure you love the 9098, it has, hands down, the best flight characteristics around in the size and price range for this type of heli. That is why after buying 2 I bought 4 more and even contacted the manufacturer to buy a full truck load, was thinking eBay over Christmas, till these challenges arose and I had to step back from this model. Sans the lack of parts, it is an amazing toy.

  • you put do not buy but then you bought it. :D

  • @RedlineRmble123 No, the other way around. I bought 8 of these, used two and then sent all 8 back when I learned that parts were not available. They are amazing helicopters for beginners, but without parts, and with a known manufacturers defect, they won't last long, even if you never crash. XHeli saw that there was a real manufacturer error and took them all back. XHeli ROCKS! And no, I have nothing to do with XHeli except as a happy customer!

  • @MikeReedKS Your right, I lost both of my connector buckles a few weeks ago. Well actually I lost it on the day i got it. I'd hope xheli restock on spare parts for this heli or else I'm screwed

  • @RedlineRmble123 There was always only one, I know there are spots for two, but only one is used. I did find another source for those on Alibaba. Search for them there. They take a long time to arrive becuase most suppliers are from Hong Kong, but better slow than never. They are very low cost.

  • @TheKaraCollection Sorry, the last person to use my PC was my daughter, so my browser was signed into her Jewlery account. Oops.. all TheKaraCollecton answers are really from me :-) Sorry again.

  • I've had my 9098 for about six months now. It flew great at first but now it doesn't have enough power to get off the ground. Think I need a new battery or motor?

  • @ouronin Very hard to say, as checp as they are, your best bet is to jut by another one and use the original one for spare parts going forward, or as I now recommend, get the S107.

  • i just got for christmas and same as below but when i went to bed i put on ground then woke up and the tail fin was broken nooooooooooooooo but i fixed with time a few minutes ago yessssssssssssss

  • @xXisaiahisawesomeXx Break and fix. It's the circle of life for helis, that is why having spare parts available is so important. You can get every part but two and those two represent the most likely part to break. The 9098-5 and 9098-11 that they are selling do not fit together, so while it looks like they are available, they are not. Actually they fixed the weak part of the 9098-11 but in doing so they made it no longer fit the 9098-05.

  • got this for XMAS - brilliant out of the box. Lasted 5 minutes before it made contact with a light shade and the top bar broke. Had copters before and they take so much punishment. Real shame.

  • @drdavidmcintosh i just got it for christmas and ive crashed like 20 times and the wings or whatever there called only have little damage

  • @mancilla903 Yes, very sturdy, in fact the rotors can take quite a bit of damage before you will even notice any change in flight characteristics.

  • @drdavidmcintosh I haven’t had a flybar break yet, but I have had several friends that did. You can get replacement flybars at low cost, so while broken parts suck, they are part of the heli hobby. As long as you can get spare parts, it’s not a bad thing.

  • MikeReedKS was spot-on. I got this heli (red) for Thanks giving and I would say I am an expert in indoor flying. The piece that connects the main shaft to the upper blade grip set broke while I was landing smoothly! Very frustrating...I was really enjoying the Gyro and the control it provides. Where this main shaft available??

  • @minnalsrinivas PLEASE!!! If anyone finds this part, let us know! It is all that stands between worthless and superior.

  • @minnalsrinivas It really is the best heli out there... if it only had spare parts! I am enjoying my S-107 and several others, but none are as stable and controllable as the 9098. Once they get the spare parts sorted out, this will be THE heli to own, just can't recommend it right now.

  • @MikeReedKS I see the new versions of the parts in enjoyhobbies (D9098-11 & D9098-03), but they call it as "new mode". Will these fit the toy? Because I do not want to waste another $6.80, with $24 already being wasted :) Did anyone try out these "new mode" parts??

  • so whats the diffrence between this and syma 107? ive heard 105 is better because its more challanging

  • @scott1506 The term "better" is subjective, it all depends on what you want. You might want to watch my "You Need a Gyro" video to see why the S-107 which is a 3CH with Gyro heli differs from 3CH helis without a gyro. Then decide which type is "better" for you.

  • I've flown several micro heli's and I must say.

    #1 THE MOST STABLE

#2 The weakest Top Flybar (balance bar/whatever) ever created by man!

(Buy 5 balance bars before they sell out!)

Its really sad... While other Heli's have a tougher rubber like flybar that doesn't snap, they also dont fly anywhere near as stable as the DoubleHorse 9098. I wish I could take the blades off a cheap $9 heli but use the gyro found in this one.. I CANT WIN!

  • @JoeVSvolcano If you could just get the main shaft 9098-11 part that matched the original, I'd be all over the 9098. They are amazing. But a heli you can't repair won't be a heli you enjoy for very long. I'll still try the next version, and hope they fix the small defects. It really is an amazing heli.

  • sum how i went from lookin at people smoking bongs to watching this video

  • DO NOT BUY THIS HELICOPTER!!! --- I WAS WRONG!

  • @MikeReedKS lol and why exactly ?

  • @Garcya85 You can't get parts and it has a manufactures defect that assures that it will break even if you don't crash it. The main shaft has thin plastic posts that attach to the lower blade set that shear at the point where they connect to the shaft. The manufactures saw this and made the posts thicker, but in doing so made the inventory of parts no longer fit and they have yet to release a set of parts that you can use to correct the design flaw.

  • budy I both broke our flybars on the 9098... Weird... I have a $15 Chinese generic and that this wont die...

  • @JoeVSvolcano There is a manufactures defect in this product. DO NOT BUY IT. I am sorry to have represented it, but the flaw didn't turn up for me quickly. The 9098-11 part, the Main Shaft has a tiny plastic pin that shears at the point where it attaches to the main shaft, even if you never crash! The manufacturer changed the part and made the plastic thicker, but that part won't fit the helicopter, so now what? What exact model did you get, I want to try it! :-)

  • @JoeVSvolcano The S107 looks like the next model I'll try. So far it has pretty good reviews. Wish the controller looked nicer and it didn't have a spring on the thottle.

  • @MikeReedKS I think the spring throttle is the key actually. The cheaper heli's I've flown that never break also have spring loaded throttle. I think the continued throttle while the heli crashes is what makes the balance bars snap so easy.

  • that thing is so stable!

  • @xeeweexRC Yes, it is what makes it such a perfect toy for non-pilots. I have another video called "You Need a Gyro" that shows this heli along with others, showing how the gyro makes all the difference.

  • looks great for night flyin =)

  • @bondohana1 The LED in front is so bright it almost hurts when it hits you straight on! It really is a great little heli!!!

  • Replace the hull with a mini wireless webcam and you are a spy!

  • @RevelationUltimatum I have a very small wireless spy cam that I use but it only works on my larger helicopters. It requires a 9v battery, so this little bird just isn’t up to the task. There are however some pretty small recording models with built in batteries, so it might be possible. Not sure. This thing is pretty small and light, so not sure there is much extra lift to work with.

  • My first multi-camera shoot. My daughter flies the heli, my wife shoots her hands on the controller and I shoot the heli in flight. I used Pinnacle Studio 14, to mix it all. What do you think? I think showing the controller gives a much better feel for controllability. So many videos show flight but you have no idea how much is pilot intention and how much is pure luck. If you like the controller in the corner let me know and I’ll do more.

  • LOL at the douchey voice!

    Nice heli for $30, though.

  • @jr9950 Listen to my other "non-heli" videos, like “Exploding Water” and “Kodak Zi8 with Magnetic Macro Lens” to hear my typical speaking voice, but hey I worked hard on that douche voice :-) But I was shooting for smarmy, not douche... guess I need to keep working on it :-) Woot! I did wonder if anyone was going to say anything... I thought it was funny and made the video more interesting... long as it doesn't make you regurgitate your lunch that is! :-D Thanks much for the comment!!!
