Hickok45-I purchased that G27 and I remember you saying how difficult it was to get that last round in, I finally got one in, and the mag was really difficult to go in and snap in securely I had to actually use two hands to press it in. I then looked at the magazine and noticed the plastic ridge where it locks in to the mag release with an indentation, first of all why would Glock sell a gun stating it's a ten round mag and have you not be able to get the last round in?
sorry for the newbie question... but.. I must know... is this baby glock like a point and shoot?? or can you actually utilize the sights and be real accurate?? I got a pocket gun .380 ruger and I am thinking my Ruger is a point and shoot..
I've seen every G27 vid on YouTube and read most of its reviews and am convinced on getting one. I've never shot one but I have handled them before, they are extraordinarily small! I must shoot one before I make a purchase. I also prefer the OD frame, it's more attractive in my opinion. Hickock45 says "they're ugly" but I think they are beautiful with all due respect. I marvel at why he doesn't have the Glock 39 .45 gap
Nice video, I recently purchased a G27 for ccw. The G27 has a pretty powerful kick to it, but it is a very accurate and reliable gun. I highly recommend it.
I've always wondered this, I almost always hear traffic not too far from your house when your shooting. Is it a remote highway or something? I would think people would complain especially during those rapid fire vids. Keep it up!
The benefit of having a "snappy" gun is that you drop the intended target, so a 27, even with its short barrel, is a great defensive pistol. Good close-up by the way!
Why Not? Just like a revolver it has no manual safety. Law enforecement and military carried revolvers and now many carry Glocks because they are safe and simple to operate. If you can't safely carry a revolver or a Glock, by all means, don't.
The only gripe about the glock is that you have to pull the trigger before breaking it down, but if someone can't follow directions and unload a gun before cleaning, thats not the guns fault. Thats operator error.
You simply cannot compare a glock to a revolver. The danger of a glock is not the operators trigger finger. Rather its the fact something can easily get caught in the trigger well with NO saftey to prevent it from firing. A glock is fine for shooting targets at the range, but its downright dangerous if you're crawling or pushing your way through dense brush or similar conditions. There's a reason why military units use only hammer-fired external safety pistols.
My brother (LEO) just picked up a 3rd-Gen G27 as a back-up piece for his 3rd-Gen G22. I pray he never has to use it, or for that matter the G22, but I am comfortable knowing that he has two rock-steady pieces of hardware to back him up.
Very impressive. wondered if you ever considered a aluminum or stainless receiver for one of your glocks? why would anyone need alum or ss. but they look cool.thanks again. keep up the informative and entertaining videos. Mike
The G27 is an incredible CCW piece of kit. I'd still think most guys would prefer to equip this with a Pearce grip extension. It's like night follows day having just that one modification over stock mags.
The G27 is an incredible CCW piece of kit. I'd still most guys would prefer to equip this with a Pearce grip extension. It's like night follows day having just that one modification over stock mags.
Great video, but i have one question: the recoil from the glock 27 looks like it compares to the recoil from the 3 inch .44 magnum in your other closeup video, does it compare at all?
I'll be getting a concealed-carry permit sometime in the near future. Would you prefer a sub-compact glock or a sub-compact hk? I know that hk is a lot more expensive, but my dad says that they're better pistols overall.
If possible, I would like to save money. What gun manufacturer and gun model would you recommend to me?
@leantom18 i know im not hicock, but hks are much less reliable than glocks when under bad conditions, there was this guy who put over 21,000 rounds through his glock 21 and threw it out of a plane, buried it in powder, and didnt have any malfunctions, he put an hk in mud and it had sooo many ftfs.
while that may be true those are not practical or realistic carry conditions. When will you ever fall out of an airplane and live, or be buried completely in mud?....it's not really something anyone would consider in a carrry gun. However, I would chose a glock simply because they are great little guns. Very reliable, more accurate than you would be in a cc situations and not too hard on the wallet. I carry a Gen 3 G23. Was gonna get the RTF model, but heard they scratch you up.
Ok thinking about g27 for concealed carry. I read the forums on the 40 kaboom and it causes me to pause. I would love to know hickok45's thoughts. I think I would trust his opinion above all others. I can't stop watching his videos. Dramatic improvements at the range thanks to him.
G27 is my primary ccw gun I trust it with my life ! All glocks are great but the 27 is my favorite great vid . On a side note I might try those grips they look like they would make for a better hold on the gun.
With all the shooting must be doing.. I never heard anything about the kind of ammo you use. I guess you might load your own ammo .. but I bought lawman 40s&w for my glock 27.. I havent shot them yet. I thought I would use them for self defense.. but I hear its like for range shooting.. whats the difference if any.. what kind of ammo do you like when you buy.. do you like winchester? Sorry if I seem like i don't know much, im fairly new to guns :-)
@shawnleezam7 Yes it is. The chamber end of the barrel drops down to allow for a better feed angle for the bullet. Most newer pistols do this to prevent misfeeds. Looks goofy but is completely normal.
@theunneter dude, um... this guy is probably retired and he is doin' whatever the f**k he wants. Leave 'em alone, no one cares about the fact that your life blows.
I can tell this is one of your favorite pistols. Your enthusiasm and detailed videos have convinced me to get one - not to mention your incredible marksmanship! I am a 1911 fan and collector but have recently been interested in Glocks - specifically one for conceal carry. I have an 9mm springfield emp (mini 1911) for CCW but the 27 may be my new one. Thanks!
Mine arrives Tues after a slight delay, also ordered a 9MM Wolf conversion barrel and a G26mag - now for 130 bucks or so I have 2 baby glocks.......HolyMoly they make allot of stuff for these guns......Cant wait !
Sorry Hickok, but I don't agree with you when you say Glocks are ugly. I like their no-nonsense styling. To me they have a look that means business. Thanks to Gaston Glock for building the most reliable handgun on the planet!
Hickok45, I have a G19, and was thinking of getting a G27 or G30, but from what I gather the G30 is almost as big as a compact. Is that true, and what would you suggest, G27 or G30? I would like to use it as a defense/CC/range gun.
@onalandline , The Glock 30 is actually bigger than a Compact in some ways. It's a good bit thicker and heavier. You need to handle all of them before deciding.
i've got me a Glock 17 and im wanting a baby glock for shooting, and plinkin with, and im wondering if you have a preference of the 27 or 26, also, i dont have a .40 yet so im considering that in my buying ideas?
@fike301 , Not sure either. BAck when I used HOgue grips religiously on all my Glocks, I think I actually had to cut them a bit and tailor them to the Baby Glocks. Just for kicks I put sandpaper tape on a Glock I didn't shoot much (G30), and I began to fall in love with it. The Hogue grips made the guns bigger. They work well, but I much prefer the sandpaper type grips now.
hey Hickok. I finally bought a 27 today. after watching your videos over the past year i couldnt resist. I love it! i was wanting to buy a plug for the bottom of the grip. i was just wondering what plug you have in this video? Keep the vids coming. I check for more hickok videos everyday thanks.
@jlau08 , I think the Jentra is the one I usually end up with. I order one for a Glock 30, I think, once from somebody, and it had this stupid protrusion on it. I think I tossed it in the trash. Duh, as if I'd want something sticking out down there. The flush ones are the only ones I care about.
Glocks ugly? Na... look at any XD; now that's ugly. A really pretty gun would be... model 29 4 inch blued from the 70s... or maybe an old colt single action 45lc.
Picked up the 27 yesterday and put 100 rounds through it, no problems. I noticed that the guide rod has a small gap in between it and the front of the slide just under the muzzle of the gun. Is that normal or should I not be able to see light in between them?
@onalandline Would drive me nuts!! Lol, when I first saw that thought maybe something was wrong, but normal!! The gap isn't that bad, but what you say would worry me, until I shot it. Hear the XD's are great guns! Thanks!
Thanks hickok45, I was interested in the placing of the tape. I am interested in you grip with both hands. I'm pulling to the left and low. Not sure if Grip or trigger finger but I just keep practicing. Tape might help in side to side movement.
Iv'e been carrying a 27 for about three years in my Fobus holster. It's a nice gun but I had a hard time holding on to it when I fired it (40 cal) until I bought a magazine extension which allowed me to get another finger on the grip. That made a huge difference for me and the gun is still just as conceable.
Its always been known as the Baby Glock to me as well.. I was wondering Mr. Hickok.. You said the "lower 40" in this video... Are you from North Carolina? Thats where i'm from and we refer to the "lower 40" as Interstate 40 which runs by close to where I live in Statesville, NC... Just wondering.
It is not a "baby glock" the Glock 26 is the "Baby Glock" the Glock 27 is call the "Back Up Glock" look at the Glock website you see what I'm taking about.
Thanks to your videos, i just got my G27 last week. Love it. Its my new CC weapon! (much more comfortable than my 17) Thanks for all your work on the You Tube videos!!
I'll be putting an XD or two through their paces this spring. I don't have a Ransom Rest, so I won't be able to do any accuracy comparisons. I will get some impressions, though, I suppose.
Hey Hickok45, my name is Phillip I am 19 and just starting my collection I want a buy a glock when I turn 21 so I can carry it with a CCW. I have been doing a lot of research and really think I would love a 27 so you think it would be a good pistol to start my collection with and to carry on a day to day basis?
i have my permit and i carry my glock 19 primarily...although i have ALOT of experience with almost EVERY glock...the glock 26,27 and 33 are GREAT and SO versitile....u can carry on the strong side of ur hip...pocket...or ankle....i trust my glock 100% and have never had a single malfunction EVER...i would say the 26 may be better depending on what type of recoil ur used to...but i would recomend shooting a few diff kinds of glocks to see whats better for u...carry what ur comfortable w/
god Glocks have the best rail sighting system of any firearm ... it resembles a Walkther or Luger sight rail .. its so perfectly straight ... nothing purtrudes or gets in the way ... very awesome
One reason I like Glocks is the consistent trigger pull. I don't really consider it "double action." I don't really like true "double action" only pistols.
bought a 27 two weeks ago and i,m very happy with it! we have been through 5 states and 400 rounds i would bet my life on it flush clips and all.thanks for the entertainment information and inspiration
Excellent close up. You could have said a bit about the gun's specs (#rounds in the mag, .40 cal, pointed out the guns safety's while you were that close). But otherwise excellent.
Your videos and some others helped me decide on the Glock 27. Bought it a couple weeks ago. Haven't fired it yet though. I went for the smaller Glock in the event I want to get my CCW. But it's big enough to use efficiently too. A best of both worlds kind of thing. I wanted to get a P2000SK, as my carry weapon was P2000 and I was already trained and comfortable with that system. But for $300 more, no way, and the extra grip for the pinky finger wasn't even comfortable.
The only things I don't like so far are the magazine and slide releases. I can't release the magazine without turning the weapon (makes range safeties angry). The slide release has no meat and I can't release the slide with it. These seem to be common issues with all Glocks and therefore are popular mods. For a backup weapon these issues are mostly forgivable I suppose. If I use up my service weapon and need mag exchange for a backup weapon, I'm already in deep crap!

I use a Hogue grip on my G19.....not sure if Hogue makes one that will fit the G27, but works well and are only a few bucks.
fike301 1 year ago
@fike301 , Not sure either. BAck when I used HOgue grips religiously on all my Glocks, I think I actually had to cut them a bit and tailor them to the Baby Glocks. Just for kicks I put sandpaper tape on a Glock I didn't shoot much (G30), and I began to fall in love with it. The Hogue grips made the guns bigger. They work well, but I much prefer the sandpaper type grips now.
hickok45 1 year ago
@fike301............ if you buy a hogue for a glock it is meant to be cut to fit these smaller ones

@jlau08 , I think the Jentra is the one I usually end up with. I order one for a Glock 30, I think, once from somebody, and it had this stupid protrusion on it. I think I tossed it in the trash. Duh, as if I'd want something sticking out down there. The flush ones are the only ones I care about.
hickok45 1 year ago
There are also RAT grips that are polymer based, and are melted to mold to the shooters hand.

Is that normal or should I not be able to see light in between them?
tim12161974 1 year ago

@tim12161974, That's pretty normal.

@tim12161974 The XDs from Springfield protrude out even more.
onalandline 1 year ago
@onalandline Would drive me nuts!! Lol, when I first saw that thought maybe something was wrong, but normal!! The gap isn't that bad, but what you say would worry me, until I shot it. Hear the XD's are great guns! Thanks!
tim12161974 1 year ago
Thanks hickok45, I was interested in the placing of the tape. I am interested in you grip with both hands. I'm pulling to the left and low. Not sure if Grip or trigger finger but I just keep practicing. Tape might help in side to side movement.

finally picked up the 27 last week because of your videos. slide release is VERY stiff . what defense ammo do you prefer for the .40 cal?
triggerjunkie08 1 year ago
@triggerjunkie08 , Whatever the FBI says is good is okay with me. The new Winchester PDX or Gold Dot should be fine.

@SgtMcCullin , polymer covered metal.
hickok45 1 year ago

@gilgsn ,
I don't want to take chances with aftermarket parts. The stock guide rod works just fine for me.

what kind of glock you recomend for a first glock buyer?

Glock 17 9x19mm

@joedaniel000
Depends on your philosophy of use. If you want a conceal carry weapon I would go with a smaller glock.

hickok45 what kind of glock you recomend for a first glock buyer?
joedaniel000 1 year ago
Glocks are definitely UGLY, as Hickock says, BUT they are LIFESAVERS!!!!!!!
XD's are PRETTIER, I feel they are a bit more accurate (I have BOTH BRANDS:), and have different color frame/slide options......
If you want TRUE BEAUTY, LOOK TO 1911's: ie: KIMBER, COLT, SMITH, JD, WC, etc......
gfitzz28 1 year ago
I'll be putting an XD or two through their paces this spring. I don't have a Ransom Rest, so I won't be able to do any accuracy comparisons. I will get some impressions, though, I suppose.

Yes, that's our male golden retriever, Bud, but we lost him last summer. He was a great dog.

Hey Hickok45, my name is Phillip I am 19 and just starting my collection I want a buy a glock when I turn 21 so I can carry it with a CCW. I have been doing a lot of research and really think I would love a 27 so you think it would be a good pistol to start my collection with and to carry on a day to day basis?

i have my permit and i carry my glock 19 primarily...although i have ALOT of experience with almost EVERY glock...the glock 26,27 and 33 are GREAT and SO versitile....u can carry on the strong side of ur hip...pocket...or ankle....i trust my glock 100% and have never had a single malfunction EVER...i would say the 26 may be better depending on what type of recoil ur used to...but i would recomend shooting a few diff kinds of glocks to see whats better for u...carry what ur comfortable w/

god Glocks have the best rail sighting system of any firearm ... it resembles a Walkther or Luger sight rail .. its so perfectly straight ... nothing purtrudes or gets in the way ... very awesome

whast your favorite round? whats your favorite glock and does it bother you that glocks are double action only?
dumbluck0629 1 year ago
Check out my Glock Top MOdels video.
One reason I like Glocks is the consistent trigger pull. I don't really consider it "double action." I don't really like true "double action" only pistols.

yea thanks for the response, i posted that comment before i subscribed and watched most of your vids including glock top models video.

Excellent close up. You could have said a bit about the gun's specs (#rounds in the mag, .40 cal, pointed out the guns safety's while you were that close). But otherwise excellent.
MrBankRuns 1 year ago
Your videos and some others helped me decide on the Glock 27. Bought it a couple weeks ago. Haven't fired it yet though. I went for the smaller Glock in the event I want to get my CCW. But it's big enough to use efficiently too. A best of both worlds kind of thing. I wanted to get a P2000SK, as my carry weapon was P2000 and I was already trained and comfortable with that system. But for $300 more, no way, and the extra grip for the pinky finger wasn't even comfortable.
voteforpigeon 1 year ago
The only things I don't like so far are the magazine and slide releases. I can't release the magazine without turning the weapon (makes range safeties angry). The slide release has no meat and I can't release the slide with it. These seem to be common issues with all Glocks and therefore are popular mods. For a backup weapon these issues are mostly forgivable I suppose. If I use up my service weapon and need mag exchange for a backup weapon, I'm already in deep crap!
voteforpigeon 1 year ago
"Best of both worlds" is exactly right. That's what I like about it.
