I don't think it was common knowledge or publicly known that she was a male to female transgender. I mean, I'm sure all the soccer moms would have had one of their usual overreactions to their kids getting the slightest bit of exposure to something "out of the ordinary".

@knightforce01 Maddie was a male to female transgender and her birth name was Adam Blaustein (she used to go by the name Addie Blaustein) - her brother is Jeremy Blaustein. Hope that helps.

But jesus, I never knew she died until a few days ago. She was a brilliant voice actress like.

I'm so dumb. I'd only just found out today from my friend that Maddie died. I thought she'd just quit the Meowth role or something. I'm so sad... She's definitely a big part of the reason that I fell in love with Poke'mon as a child. A belated R.I.P., Ms. Blaustein.

Jeez, when I heard of her passing, I couldn't come to grips with it too well. Ever since Pokemon came around, Meowth's voice was what caught my attention. Maddie, well done.

In my opinion, I'd say Jimmy Zoppi (Meowth's current voice), is a fitting actor to fill in for her.

Yesterday, Another cartoon voice actor died. According to Google Groups, It tiled "GoodBye Scrooge McDuck." I was shocked to hear that Alan Young passed away. Scrooge McDuck was from Disney's Ducktales.

wow...she was an amazing voice over/actor. Coincidentally, yesterday, i was cleaning out my attic and i had found a comic book that she had personally signed for me. I will always keep this comic book in tribute of Maddie. Rest in Peace Maddie <3

I'm crying so much right now, I only just found out that she's dead and I'm devastated. She was everything I want to be... voice actress, comic book artist... and like you said, she was a huge part of my childhood too... she was so incredibly multi-talented. Unbelievable! Meowth was always one of my favorite characters on Pokemon. I can't believe this happened. As sad as it is, all of us who were hoping that the original voice cast of Pokemon would some day return will be even MORE sad! Meowth's voice didn't just change, it left this world. *sniff*

Rest in Peace Maddie. You'll be very missed.

Well, this isn't the original Meowth. This is the 4kids one. After 4Kids lost dubbing for Pokemon, a new person was used to play Meowth. But I am still sad that she died, especially that I love Pokemon.

I always consider Maddie as the original Meowth. The person who voiced Meowth in the beginning sounded stupid. Maddie brought life to Meowth's character.

maddie was just awesome and I'm trully hurt over her passing. she was an excellent voice actress,writer,editor,comedian and so many things. her Death Wish mini series she wrote for milestone was one of the rare gems in an era of style over substance. I'm so happy to see from the comments that she meant alot of all of as she did to me as well. she left us way too early.
